Liam’s POV

I gripped the steering wheel tighter, my knuckles turning white. I was trying to concentrate on the road, but it wasn’t working. Not when she was sitting right beside me, looking like she wished she were anywhere else. Her scent was soft—warm vanilla and something floral—and it was driving both me and my wolf insane. She smelled like home, like peace. And right now, all I felt was tension.

Katrina sat there stiffly, her body turned toward the window. Her arms were crossed tightly over her chest, and she hadn't looked at me once since we got in the car. Her silence was like a heavy cloud, filling the car, choking me slowly. I felt frustrated. Confused. And angry.

She looked so beautiful, even now, with her jaw clenched and her lips pressed into a thin line. The sunlight coming through the window caught in her hair, making it shine. She didn’t even know what she did to me. She had no idea how hard it was to keep calm when she was close but completely out of reach.

Katrina’s POVMy heart skipped. He was dressed in all black like usual, tall and strong and cold-looking. His eyes locked on mine, and for a second, I forgot about the blood, the pain, the embarrassment. He started walking toward us. His steps were quick and full of purpose. Ariana immediately lowered her head respectfully and said, “Alpha.”I did the same, though not as gracefully. My head was still a little fuzzy.“What happened to your face?” he asked, stopping right in front of me. His voice was calm, but there was something dangerous underneath it.“It’s nothing,” I mumbled, not meeting his eyes. “Just a game accident.”His eyes narrowed slightly. “A game accident?” he repeated like he didn’t believe me.Then he looked at Ariana. “Can you excuse us?”Ariana looked hesitant, glancing between us. “Are you sure?” she asked me quietly.I nodded. “I’m fine.”She gave me a look that said you better be, then left us alone in the hallway. Now it was just me and him.Alpha Liam looked at m

  • Marked By Fate: The Alpha Who Loved Me   Chapter 35

Katrina’s POVThe ball Angie had thrown was still rolling near the bleachers, like a quiet reminder that she had almost nailed me. My heart was pounding like crazy, and even though I hadn’t been hit, it still felt like I had. My legs felt shaky, and my palms were sweaty, but I stayed where I was, trying to breathe and calm down.Ariana turned to me, eyes sharp. “You okay?”I nodded again, but it wasn’t a real nod. It was one of those “I don’t want to talk about it” nods. She didn’t push. She just moved a little closer, almost like she was standing guard. That made me feel a little better. I didn’t say it out loud, but I was glad she was here. I didn’t think I could survive this class without her.Coach Daniels blew the whistle again. “Let’s keep it moving, girls! No hiding in the back!”Of course she was looking at me when she said that. I forced my legs to move forward, just a bit, enough to not look like I was trying to disappear. The gym lights were too bright, making the shiny floo

  • Marked By Fate: The Alpha Who Loved Me   Chapter 34

Katrina’s POVWalking into school with Blake was a relief, even if just for a moment. I could almost pretend everything was okay, as though the weight of the morning hadn't followed me here. Blake always knew how to make me laugh. He had that easy-going nature that was infectious, and today, he didn’t disappoint. As we made our way to our first class, he told me some ridiculous story and it made me laugh more than I probably should have. He had this way of making everything seem lighter, and I appreciated it, especially today. The rest of the day passed in a blur. Classes felt like a blur of meaningless words and numbers. I tried to focus, but my mind kept drifting back to the morning, to Alpha Liam. To his strange silence, the way he avoided my gaze, and the way he held himself. It was like he was a stranger—cold, distant, and so painfully hard to read.By the time the bell rang for PE, I felt a knot in my stomach, like I was going to be sick. The last thing I wanted was to deal with

Liam’s POVMy chest tightened at the thought. Leah had been my first mate. Sweet. Gentle. Innocent. She had never asked for the danger that came with being the Luna of an Alpha. But she got caught in the middle anyway. One mistake. One attack. One scream I didn’t reach in time. She was gone in seconds. And I hadn’t forgiven myself since. Now Katrina was here. My second chance. My second mate. When I first realized the Moon Goddess had chosen her for me, I was shocked. I hadn’t expected another mate. Not after Leah. I thought that part of my life was over. That I wasn’t going to get a second chance. But then Katrina came into my life—quiet, stubborn, strong… and beautiful in a way that made my chest tighten every time I looked at her.She didn’t see it, though. She didn’t think she was special. She didn’t understand how my wolf stirred the moment she walked into the room. How just being near her made my skin itch with the need to be closer. How I wanted to mark her, claim her, make her

  • Marked By Fate: The Alpha Who Loved Me   Chapter 31

Kat’s POVThe morning sun hadn’t fully risen yet, but the light that spilled into my room was enough to wake me. My eyes fluttered open slowly, and for a few seconds, I just lay there, staring at the ceiling, letting the silence wrap around me like a blanket. I hadn’t slept much the night before. My thoughts had been too loud. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Angie stepping out of Alpha Liam’s room. I saw the way he smiled at me like I didn’t matter, like I wasn’t the girl the Moon Goddess had chosen for him.I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and forced myself to sit up. The room felt colder than usual, or maybe it was just me. Either way, I didn’t feel ready for the day. I wanted to curl back under the blankets and disappear, but I knew I couldn’t do that. I had school. I had to face people. I had to pretend everything was fine.Dragging myself out of bed, I walked to the bathroom and turned on the shower. I let the water run over me, hoping it would wash away the heaviness I felt. I
