Katrina's POV

My eyes widened and I quickly reached out to shush her, glancing around to make sure no one else had heard.

She smirked like a cat that caught a mouse. “So it’s true.”

I looked down at my plate, poking at a slice of mushroom with my fork. I didn’t say anything, but I didn’t have to. My silence said enough.

Ariana reached across the table and gently touched my hand. “Hey,” she said softly. “There’s nothing wrong with having a crush. Really. He’s hot.”

I looked up slowly. “Then why do you sound worried?”

She gave me a sad little smile. “Because… I don’t want you to get hurt.”

I frowned. “What do you mean?”

She sighed and leaned back a little in her chair. “Alpha Liam... he lost his mate years ago. It broke him. Everyone in the pack knows. She died in some kind of rogue attack, and ever since then, he’s been different. Distant. Like he shut off a part of himself.”

I stayed quiet. I already knew. Liam had told me. I remembered the pain in his eyes when he said it. The way he

Katrina’s POVI thought about all the times I’d felt weak, all the times people like Angie had made me feel like I wasn’t enough. I wasn’t going to let them be right.Twenty. Twenty-one…I bit down on my lower lip, tasting blood. My eyes burned from the effort, but I kept pushing.Twenty-nine. Thirty. When I reached the last pushup, I almost collapsed. I stayed on the ground for a second, my arms shaking under me, before I finally pushed up to my knees.“Up,” Commander Reid barked again.I pushed myself up slowly, my arms shaking like jelly. My muscles were burning, my chest was heaving, and I was covered in sweat. But I stood tall, even though I felt like falling right back down.Commander Reid gave me a sharp nod. “Partner combat next. Pair up.”I didn’t even get a chance to choose. A girl with short black hair and sharp eyes stepped forward. She looked older, maybe nineteen or twenty, and way stronge

  • Marked By Fate: The Alpha Who Loved Me   Chapter 59

Katrina’s POVMonday came faster than I expected. My alarm buzzed too early, and I groaned as I forced myself out of bed. My whole body still felt heavy from the thoughts that had been swirling in my head all weekend—about the missing book, the silver flame, and what it could all mean. But I pushed those thoughts aside as Liam pulled up in front of the school in his car like he always did. He gave me a small smile and told me to have a good day. I thanked him and got out, feeling that little flutter in my chest I always felt when he looked at me. Today was the start of something new. My first day of warrior training. My heart warmed. The school day crawled. I tried to concentrate during class, but my thoughts kept drifting. I kept glancing at the clock, counting down the hours. I wasn’t just nervous—I was anxious. Excited. Afraid. I didn’t know what to expect. Would I be good enough? Would people laugh at me? What if I embarrassed myself? After the final bell rang, I grabbed my backpa

Katrina’s POV“Cindy,” I breathed, lowering my flashlight. “You scared me.”My heart was still beating fast from the scare. I lowered my flashlight fully and took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down.Cindy stood there by the door, her expression still soft and a little surprised. She took another step into the library, her shoes making a soft tap on the wooden floor.“I didn’t mean to scare you,” she said again, her voice gentle.“It’s okay,” I replied, trying to sound casual even though my chest still felt tight. “I just… wasn’t expecting anyone.”She gave me a small smile and tucked a loose curl behind her ear. “I usually come in here when I can’t sleep. Reading helps me relax, you know?”I nodded, even though my mind was still spinning from the missing book. “Yeah… I get that.”Cindy walked over to one of the chairs in the corner and sat down, her eyes flicking to the shelves around us. “There’s something calming about being in here at night. Like the books are whispering sto

Katrina’s POVDinner had passed like a dream I wasn’t fully part of. I remembered sitting at the long wooden table in the dining hall, pushing mashed potatoes around my plate while people chatted and laughed around me but my thoughts weren’t there. They were in the library. With that book. That strange, old book with the silver moon on the front—the one I had found by accident, hidden behind a false shelf. Just thinking about it made my fingers tingle, like they remembered how the leather felt against my skin. Like they were begging to hold it again. After dinner, I had gone up to my room and changed into something more comfortable—an old oversized t-shirt and soft cotton shorts. I climbed into bed and pulled the covers over me, pretending I was going to sleep. But sleep didn’t come. My mind was wide awake.I kept glancing at the phone Liam had given me. It was sleek and cool, resting on my pillow like a small reminder of him. He had spent hours with me today, telling me about his fam

Katrina’s POVI nodded slowly. “Yeah,” I whispered, barely able to speak. He loosened his grip on my wrists, but didn’t move away. My hands slipped down to rest on the bed, but I didn’t push him off. I didn’t want to.The air between us felt thick—heavy with something unspoken.I swallowed hard and looked up at him. “You’re not playing fair,” I said softly. He tilted his head, his smile growing. “How so?”“You’re distracting,” I whispered, biting my lip without meaning to.His eyes darkened even more, and for a second, I thought he might kiss me again. My breath caught in my throat. But instead, he leaned in close—so close I could feel the warmth of his breath against my ear.“Your turn,” he whispered, his voice low and deep. It sent shivers down my spine. Then he rolled off me slowly

  • Marked By Fate: The Alpha Who Loved Me   Chapter 55

Katrina’s POVIt was soft at first. Just a gentle brush of our lips, like we were both unsure if it was really happening. His lips were warm, careful, like he was afraid he might scare me off if he moved too fast. My heart was beating so loud I could barely hear anything else. My breath hitched as our mouths met again, and this time it lasted a little longer. A little deeper. My eyes fluttered shut as the world around us faded. Then something changed.Liam kissed me back, really kissed me—like he’d been holding back for so long and couldn’t anymore. His hands, which had been resting lightly on my waist, suddenly tightened, pulling me closer to him. Our bodies pressed together like magnets finally allowed to touch. He let out a low sound deep in his throat, and it made my knees weak. His lips moved against mine with a hunger I hadn’t expected. He kissed me like he needed me. Like he’d been dying to taste me. I felt his fingers slide up my back, warm and a little shaky, until one hand c
