Lunessa's POV

I see, I responded through the mindlink.

‘I won’t be having breakfast with you today,’ Azrik’s voice came gently. ‘Forgive me. I’m already out handling a few matters. Did you like the dresses they brought in? If you don’t, I’ll have them send another batch right away.’

I glanced across the room at the racks of gowns.

‘It’s more than enough,’ I replied with a small smile. ‘What time am I meeting the council members?’

‘Whenever you’re ready,’ he said. ‘I’ll be waiting.’

I chuckled. ‘Okay.’

‘Take care… my Luna,’ he added, and the mindlink fell silent.

I lay back against the soft pillows, still smiling as I stared at the ceiling. He was thoughtful, and yet, somehow still powerful in every word he spoke.

After a while, I finally got out of bed and stepped into the shower. When I emerged, Mira was already waiting in the sitting area, standing beside a tray of perfectly arranged breakfast.

After the last bite, we began the process of dressing. The gowns were extraordinary. Th

Lunessa’s POVAfter the celebration died down, we finally had time to just be us again.Azrik said he wanted us to bond more, not as rulers, not as parents, but as two people who had found each other again after years of separation. So we carved out time for simple, intentional dates. One evening, he surprised me and the girls by arranging a painting date in the magic garden, which had bloomed fully since our arrival. The air was laced with the scent of lavender and sakura, the sky a soft lilac hue melting into twilight. We sat on the cool grass with the girls, a blank canvas before us and paint everywhere. It wasn’t structured or formal. It was chaotic, fun, perfect. We laughed, teased, and smeared paint on each other until our clothes were dotted with color and our hands were stained with joy. When it came time to stamp our hands on the canvas, Azrik pressed his first, a bold, black palm on the pale green board. I followed with mine, pink and light on his. Shaelith added hers over

  • Marked By Midnight    Chapter 121: Where Black Meets Pink

Lunessa’s POVWe made love all night, like two souls reunited after a lifetime apart. And in a way, we had been. Five years of silence and longing. And last night, we took it all back, roughly, gently, wildly, sweetly. Every version of us that had ever existed met in that room. And I loved every breathless second of it.I didn’t even realize we’d fallen asleep on the floor, tangled in half-twisted sheets beside the bed, until the morning light warmed my face. My body ached deliciously.Yawning, I sat up groggily, blinking at the mess we’d made, pillows on the floor, the mirror fogged, sheets all over. I couldn’t help but laughAzrik stirred beside me with a grumble. “Someone close the damn curtains.”I giggled and shifted to stand, but his arm looped around my waist and dragged me back into his chest.“I thought you wanted more sleep,” I teased, squirming playfully. Then I froze. “Wait… is that a boner?”He groaned, nuzzling my shoulder. “Mmm. Morning ritual.”“Oh, I’m so done for,” I

  • Marked By Midnight    Chapter 120: Moans And Possession

Azrik’s POVI desire her, every curve, every breath, every damn sound she makes when she’s losing herself under my touch. But she doesn’t get to have me easily, not after five years. The twins' birthday was around the corner. This celebration wouldn’t just be grand, it would mark their place in Velgrath. Their bloodline. Our legacy. I threw myself into planning, event architects, tailors, diplomats. Everything had to be flawless. For two weeks, I let that obsession keep me disciplined.Even when Lunessa tried to tempt me, soft moans in my ear, silk slipping off her shoulders, I made her ache, made her want, then walked away. She had to feel it. Every ounce of need I carried, every second of hunger she left behind.Tonight, Draven had taken the girls shopping, claiming they were having a sleepover at his estate. A rare win, Lunessa finally had the palace to herself. After dinner, I slipped out for a meeting with one of my allies. It ran long. I didn’t rush back. But when I stepped into

  • Marked By Midnight    Chapter 119: Starved For You

Lunessa's POVWe didn’t do much that day. After the staff finished cleaning, we returned to my chambers, and Seraphira was absolutely smitten. The pink and purple tones, soft pastels splashed across silk curtains and plush cushions lit her up with joy. She twirled until she got dizzy and collapsed in giggles on the velvet rug. It made my heart swell.Azrik, in true dramatic fashion, had already ordered his chambers to be expanded. It was excessive. And it was very him. That evening, Mira gathered all the palace staff to formally introduce them to Shaelith and Seraphira. The girls, naturally, stole the show. I noticed Azrik has replaced most of the staff, some of them were brought by Cassara. By dinner, the girls were barely able to keep their eyes open, worn out from racing down endless halls and charming every guard and maid in sight. When they finally drifted off to sleep, Azrik and I settled into the sitting room. I looked at him. Really looked at him. How had I gone so long wit

Azrik’s POVLunessa walked out of the dining room. I loved that about her, quiet strength, graceful defiance.I turned to Kaelina, unimpressed. “Did you really have to disrespect yourself like that?”She scoffed. “What? I was just trying to be nice to the girls.”“You’re lucky Shaelith didn’t roast you alive.”“Roast?” she echoed, confused.“Literally,” I said, holding her gaze. Her pupils widened, she knew I wasn’t bluffing. She looked away and popped a grape into her mouth, suddenly too quiet.“So what now?” she asked after a moment. “Now that your precious Luna is back? The one you were obsessed with?”“I still am,” I replied flatly. “I miss her even when she’s sitting right in front of me.”Kaelina inhaled slowly, holding back whatever emotion trembled in her throat.“You have to leave,” I said. “Not just for her sake, but for your safety.”Her eyes darted back to me. “That’s it? We had something, Azrik. Or did that mean nothing to you? You used me, treated me like a placeholder,

  • Marked By Midnight    Chapter 117: Where We Belong

Lunessa’s POVThe children were in awe.Guards stood in crisp formation as our car pulled up to the courtyard beside the fountain, bowing deeply in perfect synchrony. They opened the door for us to step out.“Wow… this is Daddy’s house?” Shaelith whispered, wide-eyed.Ever since the journey began, I’d noticed the way she looked at Azrik had changed, more admiration, more curiosity. She was slowly seeing him through a different lens.“It’s so big!” Seraphira added.“Wait until morning,” I smiled softly. “You’ll see it better in daylight.”Though the palace grounds were lit brilliantly by streetlamps and spotlights, nothing compared to the grandeur the sun would reveal. We went straight to Azrik’s chambers. Shaelith practically skipped beside me, her eyes lighting up as she stepped into the deep black interior. Without wasting much time, we freshened up. Despite the late hour, Draven personally brought us food. Apparently, he’d informed the chef well ahead of our arrival.Draven gave
