INICIAR SESIÓNChapter 16Aurora’s POVI knew it was a shit move to cry over your ex, but I did. In fact, I cried all night and then some hours in the morning too. But which ex was I crying about? It definitely wasn't Sylvester and his narcissistic disorder, it was Kaelen. How could I even call him an ex when all he did was share one night with me, a night I shamelessly begged him, might I add. My life was a total mess. My swollen eyelids felt like they had been glued shut with industrial adhesive. When I finally managed to drag myself awake the next morning, my head was throbbing from the wine, my throat was dry from crying, and every single muscle in my body felt completely bruised. But I knew I couldn't stay in bed and wallow in self pity, I had a job to do.I kicked off the blankets, showered in record time, and threw on a simple pair of dark jeans and a cozy, oversized knit sweater. It was comfortable, hid my curves and more importantly, the long sleeves completely covered my wrist and hi
Chapter 15Aurora’s POVRight after I heard that roar from the front steps leading to the garden, before I could even blink, Sylvester’s grip on my arm was violently broken. It was Kaelen. His eyes were completely wild and he looked like a predator waiting to kill. I stepped back, stunned as I saw him grab Sylvester, almost lifting him off the floor. “You dare touch her?!" He growled, his fangs elongating and his claws growing longer. He had Sylvester by the collar of his expensive suit, slamming him against the stone pillar. Kaelen’s fist was pulled back, his veins bulging prominently on his forearm, and I could hear his wolf snarling right at the surface."Kaelen, no! Stop!" I screamed in panic. If he beat a high-ranking member of the pack at a gala, it would start a war. This wasn't even his own territory. “Please," I begged, stepping closer, “this will only cause trouble, please." Reluctantly, Kaelen shoved him away and then turned to me. Sylvester dropped on the floor, ga
Chapter 14Aurora’s POVMy entire body turned to solid ice and my heart must have stopped beating for a minute. Sylvester Andrew. My ex fiance and the man who threw my love right in my face and fucked my bridesmaid on our wedding day. He was standing by the entrance with a flute of champagne, chatting away with aoms bald old wolf. Everything around my faded away and all I could see was Sylvester Andrew. Instinctively, my fingers tightened on Kaelen's arms so hard that I might have ripped his tux apart if I continued. I could feel my claws growing out and my wolf almost at the surface. "Aurora?" Kaelen’s voice rumbled close to my ear, pulling me closer as he felt me go rigid. "What is it? You're shaking."I forced my eyes away from the entrance, still unable to breath. "Nothing," I lied though I sounded out of breath. I prayed the wine would make him not push it. “It's nothing. Just...the wine. I think it's finally catching up to me."Kaelen didn't look very convinced and I cou
Chapter 13Aurora’s POVIf Kaelen’s jaw dropped any lower, it was going to dent the hotel’s cheap tiled floor.Because for a glorious, thrilling five seconds, the brooding Alpha of Steele Security looked like he had been hit by a freight train. His blue eyes ran down the length of my red silk dress, tracing every curve with his eyes. I watched as his nostrils flared and I could swear I heard a low, rumbling vibration in his chest that sounded dangerously like a possessive wolf growl.Even now, I could feel my mating mark come alive, almost making me squirm. “Well?" I looked down nervously. "Do you think I'll blend in?"Kaelen blinked, his throat bobbing as he swallowed hard and then quickly looked away, clearing his throat roughlym "It's... fine. You look fine," he muttered, his voice sounding raspier than usual. Then he stepped back, gesturing to the clean sports car he'd arrived in. "We’re running late. Let's go."*Fine.* I rolled my eyes behind his back as I walked down to the
Chapter 12Kaelen’s POVThe raw, agonizing pain in Aurora’s eyes had just ripped a hole straight through my chest when Liam burst through the door like a bat out of hell.He didn't even knock. "Boss," Liam gasped, clutching the oak doorframe as he tried to catch his breath. "We have an emergency.""It better be a life-or-death matter, Liam. What is it?""The cartel," Liam panted, holding up a sleek black tablet. "Marcus just intercepted a digital invite. There's an exclusive out-of-town charity dinner at the Obsidian Estate. We have reliable Intel that top level members of Cartel De Imperio will be attending. It’s happening right now."Aurora wiped her cheeks quickly and cleared her throat. "A dinner? Who is attending?""That’s the catch," Liam said, looking between us quizzically. "Our system intercepted the encrypted invites, but we don't know exactly who to look out for. The guest list is written with initials, it's anonymous. But if we can get inside that dining hall, we can scan
Chapter 11Aurora’s POVI was fantastic with numbers. I'd known this since I was just a kid. So, for the last three days, I had locked myself in the small, glass-walled research annex at Steele Security and looked at all related data concerning the cartel members, their home address, their favourite bar, their barbing shops, etc. I knew sooner or later, something would come up. But that wasn't all the reason I had to hide in my new office. Actually, I didn't want to go to the main floor and risk running into Kaelen. I was doing a magnificent job of avoiding him, but my mind was a complete mess.Every couple of hours, I found myself picking up my phone to call Gina. I checked on her a couple of times, asking about her day, her work at the coroner’s office, and just making sure she was completely okay. She also helped me take my mind off things for a bit. My sweet, bubbly little sister was the only family I had left, and the guilt of almost crossing the line with Kaelen in the cab
