LOGINChapter 02
Aurora's POV
I watched Gina smiled up at him and I almost vomited.
This couldn't be real. Was this a prank?! Did my sister somehow find out about him and bring him back to haunt me?
I stood there like an idiot, staring at my worst enemy standing naked in my sister’s kitchen while Gina hugged him like he was the best thing since spiderman.
He'd grown so big that I could feel my wrist burning as my eyes traveled down to his sculpted chest and toned legs.
My brain short-circuited.
“He’s your…your boyfriend?” I choked out shakily.
Gina pulled back from Kaelen’s waist and grinned like this was this shocking scene was the most normal thing in the world. “Yes, his name is Kaelen.”
Then she turned to him with a sweet smile and gestured to me, "this is my big sister Aurora.”
Kaelen finally took his eyes off my body and cleared his throat awkwardly. “Nice to meet you,” he said, all deep and smooth.
I growled inwardly and hissed. “Indeed.”
Gina blinked between us, confused. “Wait… you two know each other?”
“Unfortunately,” I muttered angrily.
Kaelen growled and somehow the sound did stupid things to my stomach. “We met,” he replied, his eyes still roaming my face and body.
I wanted the floor to open up and swallow me whole.
“Actually, he's just an old acquaintance back at the pack, no one significant,” I quickly added.
“Oh, nice. He mentioned he's from our home pack, but I can't quite recall."
"Doesn't matter,” I said and looked away from his hypnotizing blue eyes to his wet hair.
Was it still silky soft? Or was it just hair products like Sylvester's own?
As my mind wandered, I could feel his eyes were still staring holes into my face and I knew if I glanced up, I'd be lost in them.
Even across the room, I could smell him and my body was reacting treacherously.
Gina actually paused for the first time and looked at my ruined wedding dress. "Oh my god! Today's your wedding, why aren't you there? Isn't that mum's wedding dress?”
I turned away, shutting my mouth because there was no way I could answer that in front of Kaelen.
I could see his face instantly become cold at the mention of a wedding and I could see his jaw clench.
"I'm sure she ran away as usual," he muttered under his breath coldly, his enchanting eyes still fixed on my face.
God, I couldn't look at them. They looked so perfect together and I couldn't help but feel tears prick my eyes at the memory of Sylvester and Daphne.
Gina looked at me skeptically but she shrugged and gestured to the room down the hallway.
“It's good to see you," she grinned.
"Can you show me a room?" I choked out, "I have to spend the night."
"Sure, there's a guest room down the hall."
"Thanks,” I muttered stiffly and turned around, dragging my suitcase toward the guest room, trying to ignore the fact that Kaelen was still standing there in just a towel.
“Come down for dinner soon, he's making pancakes!"
I was still shaking as I dragged my luggage into the dusty guestroom and slammed the door shut.
"Oh my goodness, Kaelen?” I gasped and slid down the door, plopping on the dusty floor.
Today was literally the worst day of my life. I was crying like a toddler, I'd been cheated on, ruined my mother’s dress and now I was staring at the man who ruined my life twelve years ago.
When I heard Gina knocking on the door, I jerked up, wiping my face.
“Dinner is ready, you'll join us, right?" She asked excitedly, “there's so much catching up to do."
I cleared my throat, trying to sound fine. “Of course, Gee. I'll be right down after a shower."
I stumbled into the shower, got rid of what was left of the dress and took a quick shower.
When I finally changed into something fresh and went down to the kitchen again, I could smell coffee.
I walked in rubbing my eyes and nearly tripped over my own feet.
Kaelen was shirtless again, wearing low gray sweatpants that should be illegal and flipping pancakes like he lived here.
His chest was broad and his arms looked like he'd been lifting heavy all his life.
I could still see the scars below his navel and my heart skipped recalling that night when he'd shown it to me.
That night…
“Hey,” he said without even turning around. “Will you just keep staring?”
I jerked around and looked away, trying to focus on the pancakes. “I wasn't...I wasn't staring."
But it was hard, he was literally like a hulking bundle of sexiness standing right next to the food.
“How have you been?" He asked softly, his eyes searching my entire body like he usually did.
Kaelen always wanted to make sure I was fine. He'd tease me, say mean things, be cold and brooding, but each time we met, he wanted to be sure I was fine. Apparently, that hadn't changed.
“It's none of your business,” I hissed, grabbing a mug and almost spilling the hot coffee on myself.
For a second, he rushed to me like he wanted to grab the hot cup but then stopped himself halfway, clenching his jaw.
Just then, Gina walked down from the living room, she was humming happily as she set plates on the table. “Isn’t he amazing? He makes the best pancakes.”
I forced a smile for my sister’s sake and tried to look away from his sculpted back muscles. “Yeah. Amazing.”
Kaelen pulled a chair out for Gina and she sat down and grabbed a plate for herself before he went around and poured some syrup on it.
He was so attentive and caring and I couldn't help but wonder if Gina knew how lucky she was. Sylvester would never help out in the kitchen or pull out a chair for me. Apparently, I wasn't worth all that effort.
“I'm so sorry I couldn't come, sis," Gina groaned, cutting off my thoughts, "I know I wouldn't miss your wedding for anything, but I'm the only coroner right now at the firm and this silly work emergency came up…”
"It's fine, Gina. I know how hectic your work gets.”
Gina must have noticed that I really didn't want to talk about my wedding and so she cheerfully moved on to other topics.
God, sometimes I envied her carefree nature.
As I watched them eat, I could see how attentive he was, picking up her empty milk glass and refilling it, but Gina didn't even glance at him, in fact, she just nodded blankly at his actions.
“So, how long will your sister be staying here for?” Kaelen asked, staring at me again.
"Just a few days, right?” Gina replied, glancing at me.
I nodded dumbfounded, I would be leaving tomorrow before I lost my mind.
I reached for the milk jar at the same time that he did and our fingers touched.
Instantly, I jerked away, feeling the mark begin to burn my wrist.
“Hey, are you okay?" He asked worriedly and then stared at my sleeves where I was rubbing it down, desperate to hide the mating mark from him.
"Aurora, are you okay?” Gina asked worriedly and grabbed me a glass of water.
"Thank you,” I coughed and gulped it, glaring at those blue eyes again.
“I think you've had a rough day. Maybe we'll talk tomorrow," Gina said and I took the opportunity to flee.
I could still feel his eyes on me as I more or less fled to the guest room.
But even after abandoning dinner, that night I couldn’t sleep.
Seeing Kaelen brought back memories I had fought against for a whole decade. Standing in the same space as him felt like those years were reversed.
As if a failed wedding wasn't enough, I had to deal with Kaelen freaking Steele, the one person I couldn't forget no matter how hard I tried.
I tossed and turned, replaying that stupid night twelve years ago.
The way his hands felt on my body, the way his fangs bit me and the way I had my first orgasm.
That bloody night was the beginning of my misery, no pun intended.
I must have fallen asleep eventually because I started dreaming about it.
In my dream, I could see his large toned body over mine, his voice in my ear, telling me how wet my pussy was and how he'd make me cum until I moaned his name. And boy, was he kidding?
I had reached multiple orgasms that night until my pussy was sore and my legs wouldn't stop shaking.
And then his fangs sank into my neck and my world exploded in white light.
But when I looked up in that dream, it wasn't the Kaelen from twelve years ago that I was looking at, it was the grown up man I'd met in my sister's kitchen hours ago.
And in this dream, his cock was twice as large and he had a smirk on his face as he thrust inside me, buried deep inside my pussy.
“I'm gonna make you come, ugly duckling,”
“Kaelen," I caught myself moaning his name out loud then I jerked awake, gasping, sweaty, and wet between my legs.
And then actually I saw him and yelped.
Kaelen was standing in my doorway of the guestroom, shirtless and watching me with hungry eyes.
“You were calling my name in your sleep,” he asked roughly, "did you have a bad dream?”
Chapter 08Aurora’s POVI didn’t sleep. Not really. How could I? I was currently wrapped in Kaelen Steele’s oversized, stupidly warm flannel shirt, smelling his intoxicating scent while lying in a dusty bed in the middle of nowhere.Every time I closed my eyes, I kept seeing the raw, wounded look on his face when he saw the mark. He actually thought some man had marked me. The irony was so big I could have choked on it. Sylvester wouldn't know how to mark a female properly if the instructions were tattooed on his forehead. He was a lousy lover and an even worse fiance. Somehow, despite how broken and betrayed I was, I couldn't help but he grateful that I'd bumped into them in that hotel kitchen. Shaking the silly thoughts off, I looked around but I couldn't see much. The cabin was pitch-black now, and the temperature had dropped so low I could see my own breath puffing out in little white clouds. I huddled deeper into the blankets, shivering.Suddenly, a low groan came down the c
Chapter 07Aurora’s POVI froze instantly and followed his eyes up my wrist, seeing the glaring black nature's tattoo which was the permanent mating mark. OopsHe dropped my hands so fast you’d think I was made of hot coal.I scrambled to pull my sleeve down, my fingers tangling in the stupid silver bracelets I wore to hide my secret. “Is that…a Mating Mark?” He choked out, eyes wide. My heart was practically in my mouth. I tried to turn my wrist away, to bury it under the fabric of my top, but who was I kidding? It was too late. The mark was out of the bag. "There’s no point," he muttered as he watched me hopelessly try to hide the mark. Then slowly let go of my waist, stepping back. "I’ve already seen it."The sudden loss of his touch left me feeling strangely empty and freezing in the cabin. I pulled my sleeve down all the way, clutching my arm to my chest as I watched him.Kaelen swayed slightly, a hand going to his temple as if he was just feeling the effect of whatever drug
Chapter 06Aurora's POV The next couple of days were awkward and problematic but kind of nice. I started working at Kaelen’s security company as a tracker and profiler. The pay was actually really good, and for the first time in a long time I felt like I had some kind of purpose. Kaelen was still his usual annoying self though. He kept calling me “little duckling” just to piss me off. He’d lean over my desk and make stupid comments about my typing or how I held my coffee. But he also listened when I gave him leads. It was annoying how good we worked together. That morning we got into the elevator together for a brief meeting and he wouldn't stop staring down my blouse and wrist where I hid the mating mark beneath lots of bracelets and long sleeves. “Stop staring at me,” I muttered. “Why do you always wear these ugly long sleeves, anyways? What are you hiding?" "That's not your business, stop staring!” “I’m not staring. I’m just wondering how someone so small can be so annoyin
Chapter 05 Aurora's POV I was about to get a job as a tracker. It was both a nightmare and a dream come true. Finally, I could start doing one thing I've always loved, catching bad guys. Cartel De Imperio was the rogue werewolf gang linked to my father's death years ago, finding them had been my obsession until my mother made me promise I wouldn't chase them on my own. Now, with Kaelen and his security firm, I would help bring them down and stop other wolves from getting hurt. But then, working with Kaelen didn't seem much like a sweet dream. It was a day after I'd gotten into a hotel and finally left Gina in her apartment with him. Kaelen insisted that he didn't promise me any job but I could come for the interview later today. But I knew I was good at what I did and maybe, just maybe, Gina would put in a good word for me too. After all, she was his girlfriend. The thought alone made me feel a lump in my throat. I was happy for my sister. Although she seemed a little unhap
Chapter 04Kaelen’s POVGina stood there staring at us with her mouth open. Aurora pulled away fast, her face flushed. “Gina,” she whispered softly, sounding like she was trying to hold back tears. “I…I need to get my things, I'm moving to a hotel, now.” She kept rambling, looking panicked and guilty that she'd been so close to me. No doubt she still thought I was Gina's boyfriend. Yeah, right. Boyfriend indeed, if only she knew of my temporary arrangement with Gina. Gina glanced at me curiously for a second and I rolled my eyes. Then she walked over and put her hand on Aurora’s shoulder. “Oh my god, Aurora, it’s okay. I know you're an emotional mess right now. You’ve been through so much with the wedding.” “No, I really can't stay at your place…it's inconvenient and…." "Aurora, you just got into town…” “Please!" Aurora insisted, finally wiping the tears off her face. “I have to leave." Watching her shivering and tear rolling down her face, I wanted to find that rogue wol
Chapter 03Aurora's POV What the hell was that? Why did I have that stupid dream? And why the heck was Kaelen standing there watching me? For a second, I actually wanted to cry in his strong arms and let him hold me but he was a douchebag and my sister's boyfriend. “What…what are you doing in my fucking room?!” I snapped at him. “You were screaming so loud in your sleep. I had to check if you were okay.” “I wasn’t!” I lied. “Then how come I heard you moaning my name?” he asked, “and why were your hands between your legs?” That was when I realized my legs were spread and I could feel the dampness on my thighs. He was right, I was soaking wet. I quickly closed them and jumped up. “Please leave…” But I didn't get to finish when he touched my face and murmured worriedly, "are you really okay, though? You feel feverish.” I was sweating alright, but my fever had nothing to do with my health but everything to do with that silly dream.Being so close to him now, I could feel t
