I slowed the car as I drove through the open gates of the Mont Blanc Consulate. It was a large stately building that had clearly seen better days. Some of the windows had been boarded up while the others looked like they were about to fall off.

I parked my car and got out. It seemed to be abandoned and, for a fleeting moment, I felt the urge to turn back. I ran my finger over the poison ring, Liam was in there, and I would not leave without killing Jacob and rescuing my cousin.

With that stamped into the back of my mind, I knelt, pressing my palm to the ground. I could feel the presence of two people in the building. An unknown signature and Liam's.

I walked across the lawn, up the stairs to the front door, pushing the double doors open, the wood creaking against the rusted hinges.

Just what kind of Alpha Prime would let their consulate fall into such disrepair? My already horrible opinion of Jacob deepened. I walked in, surprised to see the inside was… clean, almost clinical.
