Evren’s Pov

I twirled the cup in my hands, barely making out a word of what was being said around me by the bunch of old fools who have nothing better to do.

“My prince, you haven't said anything about the proposals.” The room fell silent, they suddenly realized that I was still around.

My fingers drummed the glass table silently, “I haven't heard anything worth considering” I gave them a lazy glare.

They lowered their heads in shame, “But my prince, we're really trying our best here, the humans haven't been easy to keep track of and besides your half bro….”

A look from me shut him up, his eyes flickering with fear, downing the content of the cup I flicked my wrist and the glass shattered on his head with precision.

Blood trickled down his forehead, “Your highness” he fell to his feet, “I misspoke, forgive me,” His voice shook.

“Really? Thought we were on the same level now, Xenos? To think that you'd dare bring him up here” I let out a dry chuckle, “I must have been too soft hearted recently.”

“No your highness, Tamper justice with mercy” he pleaded, I could smell the blood drying up on his skin, the wound already closed up.

“Mercy?” I hummed, “What is that?” I chuckled.

His face paled, eyes darting to the door, before falling back to the floor where he was rooted, “I wasn't thinking straight, I would never dare, your highness, please calm your anger” his voice shook but he remained rooted, pleading.

Sigh.

“Coward.” I scoffed, I had expected him to run, at least give me something fun to work with.

“Whatever,” I wasn't in the mood today, “Get out.”

I fixed my gaze on the rest of the board that had fallen silent, as if breathing quietly would erase their presence.

Chairs scraped followed by feet shuffling quickly, running as though the devil was after them.

The door slammed shut behind them, leaving me to my thoughts, I pulled out the pearl shaped necklace, sniffing the already fading lilac scent.

“Who are you?” My mind flashed to the bold little thing I had met some nights back.

The knob turned, followed by a familiar presence,

“your highness.” He bowed.

“Any news Carlos?”

His jaw tightened, “None yet. No one has ever seen her, like she doesn't exist.”

“She does.”

“I'm not doubting it, but the search isn't getting anywhere, Ev, what do we do?” His voice softened, he only called me by my name whenever he was at his wits end.

My grip tightened on the tiny rope in my hands, “find her.” My voice left no room for arguments, “Find her before the mark kills us.” I whispered.

“This wouldn't have happened if your Lycan was thinking with his head and not his lower part.” Carlos grumbled, clearly annoyed.

Karl growled fiercely in my head, “Warn him.”

“Shut up.” I snapped, pinching my brows, “how the hell could you mark our mate without completing the bond.” I groaned.

He whimpered before retreating deeper, knowing this time, he was wrong.

“Also, your father requests that you return home.” Carlos added.

“Home huh?” I scoffed, “Is the old man dying?”

“I'm pretty sure no.” He shook his head, “he's as strong as a bull.”

“Then I see no reason to return and play house with his family,” I snarled. “Tell him I would consider visiting his death bed.”

“He said you must return, something about wanting to have dinner with you.”

I rolled my eyes, “And you believed him? I thought you were smarter than that?”

“He's the king and he doesn't take no for an answer, you have to go.” he stated bluntly.

“No.”

“Yes.”

“I'm not going Carlos, drop it.”

“I'm not losing my head for you,” he shrugged, “even if I have to pull you by the tail, you will go.”

“How dare you?” a growl slipped right through my lips.

He looked at me unfazed, “What will you be wearing for dinner?”

I fell back to my chair, “Remind me why you're still alive again?”

“Cause you love me, I'm your best friend, you'll be lonely, you can't bear to kill me plus I'm the only one that puts up with your bad attitude.” He shrugged, picking up the tablet on the table and began scrolling through.

“Fuck off.” I hurled a tray at him.

He side stepped it, chuckling, “If it'd interest you to know, going back means you might get a chance to find out who poisoned you.”

That caught my attention, “Continue.”

“I've been thinking, there are only two people who would be able to sneak wolfsbane into your meals unnoticed, but with no conclusive proof what better way to fish than out than….”

My lips curled upwards, “My presence”

He nodded “Exactly.”

“Prepare the jet, and make sure you keep tracking my mate, let's go on a hunt.”

He followed behind me as we left my office, the staff scampered away before we got to them, none daring to meet my gaze.

My nostrils flared up, Karl howled, a particular lilac scent flooded my senses, I froze in my tracks heading towards it, following fast.

Just then I spotted her, stepping out of a Lamborghini, draped in a long coat, looking unfamiliar yet feeling familiar, our eyes locked, and everything seemed to stop.

“Mine.”

ValyneI stumbled backwards, unable to believe my eyes. I blinked twice to make sure I wasn't seeing things but there he was. Clear as light itself. He closed the distance between us in less than a minute, “Let's continue this inside.” He took the bag off my hands and invited himself in. “Put on your big girl pants Valyne. You can do this.” I calmed myself down before following him in.He sat on the sofa, legs crossed, “Won't offer me water?” “You're not a visitor” I snapped, “you barged into my home. Uninvited”He shrugged, “we can always continue this outside. I'm certain many would be interested in our conversation” I nibbled on my lower lips, “what are you doing here? How did you find me? What do you want?”“Finding where you live isn't an issue. I control half of this city.” he replied.“Fine. What do you want?” He chuckled, then standing he began walking around in slow painful steps, “It's quite amusing you know?” My brow furrowed, “What is?” “You're a spectacular little

ValyneI rushed back to the apartment. I couldn't return home, it wasn't safe. That's the first place he would look. I just destroyed years of hiding. I bit my finger as I paced around the room. What will I do? He would trace it, he would know, mother? Vanessa? Shit. What have I done? How did I let him rile me up so much that I lost control. Finding out he was the same Lycan as the one that visits my dreams had me on edge.My blood boiled in a way it never had, when you have sleepless nights for five years you'd understand why I felt more than just anger. I craved blood, which was weird and wrong in more ways than just one. What do I do now? Do I call mother? If all he had before was just a guess now he would be definitely certain.I have messed up, big time. I would be burned to a stake? I felt tears prick my eyes, I didn't want to be burned to a stake, I didn't want mother suffering for my sake. Things are spiraling beyond my control. Okay wait, hold on. “Calm down Valyne.

Valyne “I don't recall stuttering.” I replied.“I never said you did,” he shrugged.“What is your problem? Why do you keep tackling me?” I finally snapped, unable to hold back.He leaned into his chair, “whoever said I was tackling you? I simply asked a few questions here and there”“Unnecessary questions,” I snarled.“You don't tell me the necessity of my own Questions Miss V.” I groaned, already feeling frustrated, “Did Ophelia put you up to this?” I asked, cause that was the only likely reason why he would be targeting me, “if she did then I'd suggest you let me do my work for your own betterment.” He scoffed, “Do I look like someone that can be manipulated by your sister?” I shrugged, “you never can tell. I won't put it beyond her to send her fiance to fight her battles, that's what she's best at after all. Dirty tricks.” He chuckled in a deep baritone, “Don't flatter yourself, I wouldn't go through such troubles for her, nor you. I merely pointed out things I had issues with

ValyneI felt my blood run cold. That voice. Regaining my composure I turned to the source, then offered a warm smile, “Good morning Mr Alistair. I didn't know you would be gracing us with your presence today.” He raised an eyebrow but leaned forward, hands under his chin in a lazy glance, “Neither did I. But here we are.”My eyes found Cassy, I shot her a glare. The least she could have done was warn me about this grim reaper’s presence. She averted her gaze, looking down guiltily. I shook my head.No wonder the room felt unusually cold. Deciding not to let Evren’s presence affect me, I'd treat him as an interviewer or a strict examiner. “Set up the screen.” I ordered Cassy. She sprung to her feet and rushed to my side, I dropped my Laptop, “I'll be showing you what I came up with for this project. I got all your feedback and it was useful in my work.” “You give us too much credit. Your blue print was way too good.” Kade was the first to speak up“Are you here to present designs

ValyneStanding from the bed I cracked my neck and did some stretches, a dull ache spread across my neck to my back. I must have slept carelessly last night. Grabbing my phone I placed a call across to mother, but as expected, the speaker dinged, followed by the robotic message “Dear customer, the number you've dialed is currently not reachable. Please try again later.” with that the call ended with a beep. Sigh. I tossed the phone to the side, I didn't like this, I was beginning to get worried. I know she said not to worry and that she would be back in no time, but I just couldn't help it. Where could she have gone? I had to know. The least she could do is pick my calls. Let me know if she's still okay, or if anything has happened. “Where are you mother?” ****** Alistair Industry *****The building buzzed with liveliness as I walked in, Cassy had arrived earlier than I did. She most likely was setting things up for the meeting, for some reason I wanted to round up this project

CassyI lay wide awake, still thinking about the day's incident. I hadn't observed those red pupils well enough to identify if it was the one I dreamed of. I can't explain why but every instinct screamed at me to run far away from him, take the kids and disappear, somewhere we would never be found. But how long could I hide? How long could their powers or even mine be hidden before we would be discovered and chased to the very ends of the earth by every species alive? Killed or turned into a tool at the hands of others. Was that really a life I wanted for the twins? To grow up in fear and hiding, both from a power I couldn't control and from everyone around them.I couldn't run, I had to stay and train, become strong enough to ruin anyone who would be a threat to them, become strong enough to let them live freely.I couldn't help thinking back to the flash of red from back in the elevator. What if the man from back then was Erven? It made no sense but at the same time it was a possi
