Rose’s Pov

After Aiden left the dining hall, Fred followed him a few minutes later, leaving just Ivy and me at the long, quiet table. The once lively atmosphere had turned boring. The joy we had felt a few minutes ago had faded away, and replaced by an uncomfortable silence that neither of us knew how to repair.

The food on our plates remained untouched. I was no longer hungry and from the way Ivy kept sighing and kept playing with her fork, it was obvious she had lost appetite too. Cassandra had succeeded in ruining our evening.

“I hate her so much.” Ivy blurted out suddenly, breaking the silence.

I stared at her, shocked by her tone, although I understood completely how she felt.

“I mean, Cassandra.” She added, as if it wasn’t obvious.

Hearing her say it loud made me realize that I was not the only one that found Cassandra unbearable.
