I was headed to the Alpha's chamber to send him food as requested by Dorothy. She had begged me earlier to help her send the food to him as she needed to attend to something urgently. Even though I was bone-tired, I couldn’t refuse her. I loved Dorothy dearly. She had helped me settle into the Pack when I first arrived, guided me through the rules, and stood by me whenever I found myself in trouble. Since arriving at the Black Moon Pack, I had never seen Alpha Jackson up close. I had seen Diva, his betrothed, a couple of times and she was a pain in the neck, always nagging and complaining. She always stepped on my toes. I never knew why she hated me so much, maybe because I was an omega. The only time I’d caught a glimpse of him was from afar during a morning run, and even then, it wasn’t very clear. But I’d heard the stories. . . so many stories. They said he was brutal, cold, and terrifyingly powerful. That he once stabbed a slave three times for refusing to sleep with him. That he killed his own guard for leaving the palace to check on his ailing mate without permission. And yet, despite the rumors, countless she-wolves would kill for a chance with him. Because he was dangerously handsome. Just thinking about him made a chill run down my spine. The idea of entering his room, of being alone with him, had my heart pounding. What if he killed me? What if he forced himself on me? Why did Dorothy have to send me? I never wanted to be in a situation like this. As I trudged down the corridor, my stomach was roaring. I hadn’t eaten all day. I could literally finish a whole bowl of porridge. It had been a long, draining day at the Pack. A group of visitors from the neighboring Pack had come to mine crude oil, and after they left, we spent hours cleaning up after them. I had just finished my palace chores and all I wanted was a hot meal and a soft bed before I collapsed. My mind spiraled with awful possibilities as I approached his door. That was when I noticed a scent in the air, sweet vanilla mixed with chocolate. Enticing, addictive. The closer I got, the stronger it became. I could stay like that forever. I knocked softly. No response. I knocked again. Still nothing. “I think you should just go in and drop the juice,” Rhea, my wolf, suggested. “He’s probably out handling Pack business. You’ll be in and out.” Wanting to be done with it as quickly as possible and get some rest, I sighed and turned the knob. The sitting room was empty. But I could hear something, moaning. Cries. The scent of vanilla and chocolate still lingered thick in the air. The sounds grew louder the deeper I went. A she-wolf’s voice, ragged and desperate: “Alph… Please… take it easy…” “Shut up!” came the harsh retort. My blood ran cold. Was she in trouble? My instincts kicked in. If someone needed help, I wouldn’t stand by. I was ready to shift, ready to fight to protect her if I had to. My feet moved on their own, carrying me deeper into the room, toward the noise. Then I saw it. Or them, as the case is. My hands began to tremble. The tray slipped from my fingers and crashed to the floor, glass shattering, juice splashing everywhere. He was having sex, aggressively, violently, with a maid. Using every ounce of his Alpha strength. Alpha Jackson’s head snapped toward me, rage flashing in his eyes. “How dare you!” he growled. The she-wolf beneath him gasped for air. Her sweat-soaked body trembled before she went limp, passing out cold. He adjusted his trousers hastily. I stood there, frozen, barely breathing. My heart pounded in my chest like it was trying to escape. And then it hit me, that scent. The vanilla and chocolate. It wasn’t just his. It was ours. He was my mate. My mate. Was this a dream? What twisted joke was the Moon Goddess playing? His eyes narrowed. “On whose orders did you enter my room?” he snarled, fists clenched, his entire frame radiating fury. My lips quivered. “I… I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to. . . ” SLAP! His palm collided with my cheek, sharp and brutal. My head snapped to the side. I crashed to the ground, clutching my face as pain exploded across it. A high-pitched ringing filled my ears. Tears sprang to my eyes before I could stop them. My chest heaved, trying to hold back the sobs. But they fell anyway, fast and hot. He laughed. Cold, cruel and mocking. “You? My mate? You?! It can’t be possible.” I wept silently, my face pressed to the floor. Alpha Jackson stepped closer and knelt, lifting my chin with one finger. “I could never, ever be mated to a lowlife, wretched slave like you. The Moon Goddess must have made a mistake.” His words cut deeper than his slap ever could, breaking me. He kept scoffing. “You should know better. You and I? We’re worlds apart. I can smell the weakness on you. You’re an Omega. A servant. I would never stoop so low as to claim you.” He leaned closer, his voice full of venom. “You’re a nonentity. And that’s all you’ll ever be until the day you die.” Then came the words that shattered everything. “I, Alpha Jackson Caesar of the Black moon Pack, reject you as my mate.” My heart cracked into pieces. I’d been insulted, degraded, and now, rejected. Was it a crime to be born? Was I paying for some sin from a past life? The pain and the humiliation overwhelmed me. Tears blurred my vision. My body trembled as I tried to breathe through it. “Get lo. . .” he started again. But I didn’t wait to hear the rest. Clutching the hem of my dress, I scrambled to my feet and ran. Ran faster than I ever had in my life, my tears blinding me. I didn’t know where I was going, and I didn’t care. I just knew I had to get away from that beast.Rose’s PovI was so glad I was leaving this bondage called a pack. I had always experienced pain from the time I could remember. Firstly I was sold off like a property to work as a slave. Then I found my mate and got rejected at that same point, I was almost killed by Diva in the woods and conspired against to be taken advantage of. If the moon goddess had not sent Aiden to rescue me, I don’t know what would have become of me. He was not only handsome, but also had a heart I never imagined someone like him would have.. For the first time in my life, someone had defended me.Truly defended me.The moment he said he was going to take me to his pack, I couldn’t believe my ears. Someone like him helping a slave like me? I didn’t even think twice before accepting his offer because leaving the Black moon felt like finally breathing after years of suffocation. And now, here we were, riding to his pack. I could only hope this would be the beginning of a better life for me. Just as I got l
Jackson’s Pov“Why are you following me?” I demanded, my voice low and even. “I want to be alone.”My guards exchanged uneasy glances before one of them voiced out. “Are you sure your-“ I cut him off with a sharp gesture.“Get out!” I barked at them, myriad emotions washing through me. They bowed in respect, and left immediately. I slammed my fists against the wall, the sound echoing through the empty hallway as I stomped my feet in frustration. She was my mate... My Luna… Mine. How could she leave with Aiden for another Pack? They had even met before now. This was all messed up. Rose didn’t even think twice before accepting my rejection. What audacity? She was something else. My wolf paced restlessly, its frustration and anger reflecting mine.God Damn it. I rejected her because she was weak and helpless. I couldn’t settle for less. And no one would ever accept a low life wolf like her, not to talk of me, the Alpha Prince. Even if I didn’t have her, no one else would, that
Aiden’s POV“You can’t take her with you! She’s a weak, worthless omega, a slave… What good will she be to you, aside from being a burden?” Jackson snapped, making my blood boil. I wanted to break every bone in his arrogant body.I stepped forward, voice like ice. “I never asked for your opinion.” Stepping forward, I continued. “She’s coming with me. And you’ll address her by her name. Rose.”The glare he threw at me could’ve cut steel, but I didn’t flinch.“P-Please…” Rose’s voice trembled, barely audible. “Please take me away. I don’t want to stay here.”Her fingers twisted together anxiously, her frame shaking with fear.“Sire, I apologize on behalf of my son,” Alpha Craig said quickly, stepping in and clasping his hands together, obviously embarrassed. “He must be… confused.”“But Father-” Jackson began bristling.“Silence!” Alpha Craig roared, cutting Jackson off mid-sentence. “Have you lost all sense of decency? Where are your manners, Jackson?”Watching Jackson get put in his
Aiden’s POVMy emotions were a storm of rage and chaos. Someone… some worthless being, had dared to hurt my woman, and for that, they would pay.Seeing Rose cry, watching her shatter into sorrow, it tore me apart in ways I couldn’t describe. I would do anything for her. Anything.I had already mind-linked Fred, instructing him to investigate. He was dependable. If there was something to uncover, he would find it.Now, I held Rose’s trembling hand as we stepped into the grand hall together. The moment we entered, silence fell like a hammer. My presence...my aura… commanded it.Every head bowed. Every pair of eyes dropped. The entire room shifted into deference, all attention snapping to us.“Who dared to conspire against Rose?” My voice cracked through the hall like thunder, reverberating against the marble and stone. The ground itself seemed to respond, trembling beneath our feet.A wave of uneasy murmurs rippled through the room. No one met my gaze.Rose stood beside me, her head low
Diva’s POVI was enjoying myself, smiling, basking in the spotlight of the ceremony, until I saw her. That wench. My heart stopped cold in my chest. Just one glance at her, and my entire mood soured like spoiled wine. How?How could she be here? How could she possibly have survived what I put her through? There was no one around to help her. It was a deserted place, I made sure of it.And the blood… I saw the blood pouring out of her like a broken dam. From every part of her body. There was no way, no damn way, she should have lived. My plan was flawless. My fists clenched at my sides, and I was trembling with rage. This couldn’t be happening. I didn’t just want her gone. . . I needed her erased. Then I saw Jackson heading toward me, and I forced the fury from my face, smoothing my expression into something sweet. He couldn’t see me like this.“Hi, my love,” I purred, pressing a kiss to his cheek. But he didn’t smile. His eyes were searching for something else.“Have you seen Rose?” h
Rose PovI thought I would be dead by now. Honestly, that would have been better, at least then, I would be with my parents. What was the point of living after everything I had been through? Was the Moon Goddess playing some cruel joke on me? My life was already a mess.I tried to open my eyes, but my temples throbbed relentlessly. I lifted a shaky hand to rub at them, wincing at the pain. Everything was quiet, too quiet.“Rhea? Rhea?” I called out through the mindlink. No response.Maybe she was still recovering… or resting. After what we went through, I wouldn’t blame her. The trauma had been unbearable. When my eyes finally fluttered open, two He-wolves were staring down at me.Panic spiked through me like a jolt of electricity.Had I been kidnapped again? Or worse, Sold off?Why were they looking at me like that? Was this how I was going to die?My chest tightened as fear wrapped its cold fingers around my ribs.“What… what am I doing here?” I asked in a hoarse whisper. One of the
