Xena’s POV

When Viktor told me I had to help Kael, my first reaction was pure fire.

“Help him? Are you insane?” I snapped. “Do you even remember what he’s accused of?”

Viktor didn’t flinch. “I remember. But not everything they’re saying is true.”

I crossed my arms, glaring at him. “He’s accused of murder, organ trafficking, and half the crimes in the book. You’re telling me that’s just… what? Misunderstanding?”

His jaw tightened, but he motioned for me to follow. “You need to see something before you make up your mind.”

We ended up at the city hospital. I was already bracing myself for whatever ridiculous stunt he was about to pull. Inside, a doctor in a white coat greeted us. She was middle-aged, with tired eyes.

“You know Kael Noirfang?” she asked me.

“Unfortunately.”

She ignored my tone and opened a folder, sliding photographs and documents across the desk. They weren’t the kind of things you could fake easily—surgical reports, patient histories, before-and-after scans.

  • Marked by betrayal, bound to the Lycan Lord.   Smoke in my head

Kael’s POV. After two weeks of getting to know more about Xena's boring life… literally, she had a boring life. The only thing she considered fun was stuffing her face with fictional men. Who does that? The detective was another thing entirely, he was always at the corner of my house, guiding my house more than the so called securities. And the fact that he wasn't hiding it made it more annoying but Viktor said that I couldn't kill him so I let him be but decided to give him a little fun today. I was taking Xena shopping. Not because I wanted to waste money but because I wanted to get as far away as I could from Xena's book and of course, give Reyes a little wide goose chase. The boutique I took Xena to was one of the best in the country. We had to take the helicopter to get there quickly and make it back to the restaurant I reserved for tonight. Another sprinkle of delulu dust for the jobless world who so badly want to know about my life. The boutique was on one of the busiest s

Xena’s POVBy the time we got back to the house, I was still turning Viktor’s words over in my head. The night air was cold enough to freeze a larva. I pushed open the door and froze immediately. Kael was sitting in the living room like he owned the place— he technically owned the place. His coat draped over one arm of the chair, boots on the table, a glass of whiskey in his hand. The soft amber glow from the lamp painted him in shadows and light, making those ice blue eyes seem almost like that of an angel. His gaze slid to me with that infuriating calm, like my shock was a joke to him.“You’re here?” I blurted, my voice sharper than intended. He tilted his head, faintly amused. “Was expecting me to be rotting in a cell?”Viktor walked past me with a grin that was equal parts pride and mischief. “I told you that no cage can hold him.”“How did you get out?” I asked, my brows furrowed in curiosity. I knew that no cage could hold Kael but the evidence was too much for him to be rele

  • Marked by betrayal, bound to the Lycan Lord.   Chains can't hold a king.

Kael’s POVI sat still in the cold grey cell, my elbows resting on my knees, staring at the floor like I was counting the cracks. That was the only thing keeping me sane or should I say keeping me from breaking the chains and destroying this place. Two guards were outside the cell, constantly whispering to themselves. I was like an animal caged for the amusement of humans. That felt disgusting but I remained still. The door opened with a loud metal clang. My lips curled into a faint smile as I heard a familiar voice. “Kael Noirfang,” Detective Reyes said as he stepped in, holding a file thick enough to kill someone with. “Ready for your big moment?”I didn’t answer. I looked up slowly, gave him a lazy smirk.“You’re quieter than usual,” he said, pulling out the chair across from me. “Feeling nervous?”I leaned back against the wall and crossed one leg over the other. “Just bored.”He sat down, dropping the file on the table. It made a loud thud. I'm sure he did that on purpose, bu

  • Marked by betrayal, bound to the Lycan Lord.   The weight of evidence

Xena’s POVThis wasn't how I wanted to start my day? I had planned to stare at myself in the mirror all day trying to figure out what the hell happened yesterday but I didn't even have the chance to see the first sunlight before my phone started blowing up. The moment I saw the news on my phone that Kael had been arrested, my world broke. How was Kael get arrested? Why, was the problem. Who wouldn't want to see Kael behind bars. But seriously, what the hell happened? The news was everywhere. Social media, news headlines, gossip pages. The video of him crawling out of a burning car and how he was dragged to the police station was blowing up the internet. I don't think any celebrity has experienced this kind of attention.I rushed to the police station. By the time I reached the police station, the crowd outside was insane. Reporters with flashing cameras, fans screaming his name like it was a concert. Some were crying. Others were waving signs. “Free Kael!” “He’s innocent!” “Alp

Kael’s POVI stormed down the hallway with my fists clenched and jaw tight. What the hell was that?I couldn’t believe I’d actually said it. Shouldn’t you apologize? For what? Kissing her? I was the one who kissed her. I was the idiot who leaned in and made it awkward. And she—she didn’t even push me away, but then I made it worse by expecting her to feel guilty about it.Gods.I dragged a hand through my hair and kept walking, faster now, trying to outrun the embarrassment crawling up my neck. My chest felt like it was on fire. That wasn’t just dumb—it was childish. Since when did I act like a jealous teen?“Me?” I had said. Like I was offended. Like she did something wrong. I was angry at her for walking away—but now I was the one walking away like a brat.I reached the end of the corridor and leaned against the wall. Then, without thinking, I smacked my forehead against it.Thud.It hurt, obviously. Good. I deserved it.Thud.I did it again.“Sir?” a small voice behind me made me f
