Betrayed, abandoned, and marked by a cruel fate, Xena never imagined that a single night would change her life forever when she is casted out by her family, scorned by her pack for being wolfless, and left with no place to go, she is forced into an arranged marriage with a man she believes to be a nobody. But when she arrives at her new husband's pack, she is horrified to discover that the "nobody" is none other than Kael, the ruthless and cursed Lycan Lord who despises her but little did she know that this cruel fate she found herself in would be her salvation or… her doom.

I lay on my bed, staring at the ceiling, the blanket pulled up to my chin even though the room was warm, I felt cold inside. It had been weeks since my mother died, but the ache hadn’t lessened. If anything, it had gotten worse. Since her death, my world has turned into a nightmare. My stepfather, once pretending to be kind, showed his true face and my stepsister Chloe always sneered at me and mocking me in every opportunity they got. They made it very clear, I wasn’t wanted. To him, I was a stain on his perfect life. He said I tarnished his image, an image he never knew was "dirty" until my mother was gone. The only thing keeping me from breaking completely was the thought of my wedding in three days. My fiancé... the one person who saw more in me than the blood in my veins. It was a small ceremony, barely a celebration, his parents insisted on keeping it that way for reasons best known to them and since my mother saw the love their son had for me, she didn't oppose the idea. As I sank deeper into my grief, I heard the front door open. I knew at once who it was. It was my step father. I had been ignoring him for days. I prayed he would just pass by my room and leave me alone. Then I heard another voice. It was a woman. They were laughing, giggling, their heavy footsteps moving through the living room. I heard something crash to the floor and break, followed by more laughter. "You're the only real woman this house has ever seen," he said loudly, his voice like poison. "Not like that dead whore," the woman answered, her words dripping with scorn. I sat up in bed, my heart pounding. My fists clenched tightly, gripping the sheets tightly. It was one thing to mock me but it was a completely different situation when it comes to my mother. "Her daughter’s no better," he added, his voice thick with disgust. I couldn't take it anymore, I threw off the blanket and stormed out of the room. I found them sprawled on the sofa, laughing as if the world was theirs. The woman was draped over him, her lipstick smeared across his mouth, her heels digging into the couch cushions. “What the hell do you think you are doing?” I snapped, as soon as I got down the stairs. They both turned to look at me like I was an annoying bug. "Who I am doesn’t concern you," the woman said with a cruel smile. "But since you asked... I'm your stepmom,” she paused, exchanging glances with my stepfather. Her words hit me harder than any slap. "You..." I struggled to find my voice. "You dare to bring a stranger into this house? It has just been three weeks since my mother died,” I paused, tears choking my words. “How dare you?” "Watch your mouth," my stepfather growled. “And who said she is a stranger,” he turned to her, holding her hand in a romantic way. “She is the love of my life, the only one I have truly loved.” I froze. It was like watching your world come crashing down before your eyes. “What?” I muttered, my mind filled with different thoughts. “How could you do this to my mother?” I snapped. “She gave you a name, she gave you a house…she…” I paused, swallowing hard, unable to believe what was happening. “How could you do this to her?” “Please, don't be too dramatic, I gave your mother attention in return, do you know that so many men were scared of approaching your mother because of her status,” he stood up, pointing to his chest. “I became a Father to someone's else's child, to an Impure wolf, do you have any idea what that did to me?” I scoffed, shaking my head in disbelief. “You were the one who approached my mother,” I eyed. “Hey, you should be grateful I kept your secret,” he eyed, his voice filled with pride. “Do you still remember what they did to the last impure wolf?” I swallowed hard. Whatever confidence that was left in me, came crumbling down. The last impure wolf was killed brutally. She was torn into pieces during a gathering under the full moon. “Are you seriously threatening me?” I said, my voice low as tears flowed down freely. “You should be grateful I'm still keeping you here, so I suggest you don't provoke me,” he eyed, wrapping his hand around the woman's neck. I opened my mouth to throw back another insult, but froze, seeing what was around her neck. My mother’s silver chain, the one she wore every day, now dangling proudly around this woman’s throat like a trophy. My patience snapped and without thinking, I lunged forward and yanked the chain from her neck. "How dare you!" I screamed. The woman staggered back, clutching her neck in shock. My stepfather’s face twisted in anger. Before I could react, his hand struck me hard across the face. I stumbled, tasting blood. "You disgusting little mistake!" he roared. I tried to stand, but he hit me again, harder this time. I crashed into the wall, my head spinning. "You think you can disrespect my woman?!" he shouted, spitting on my face. “You worthless piece of shit, don't make me call the sentinels on you,” he spat, yanking the chain away from me and pushed me to the floor. The woman smiled, placing the chain in her purse before following my step father upstairs. I sat on the floor, crying for hours. I couldn't take it anymore. I clutched my bleeding head, thinking of what to do before I bled to death. The only person I could think of was my fiance. I rushed to the drawer in the kitchen and sprayed the werewolves scent on myself, it was a potion that hid my impure scent. Without it, I wouldn't have survived at all. I placed the bottle in my pocket and ran into the night, heading for the only place and person that could comfort me. When I got to his house, I knocked hard but there was no response but the lights were on. Desperately, I pushed the door opened and walked in. The first thing that caught my eyes was the purse lying on the table. I flinched as a loud bang was heard from upstairs. “Mark,” I called, running upstairs, immediately I got to his room, I flung the door open and walked in. Immediately my soul felt my body, my jaw dropped open in shock. Mark was in bed with another woman, they were still fucking like I wasn't standing right there. Slowly the lady turned to me, a small smirk appearing on her lips. It was Chloe, my step sister.XENA’S POVKael was mad. Like, really mad. He didn’t say a word as we walked back into the house. Manure dripped off his hair, down his shirt, onto the floor with every step. He smelled like a dead cow soaked in expired eggs. I tried not to laugh—I really did—but when he caught a glimpse of himself in the hallway mirror and shook his head slowly in disbelief, I had to cover my mouth.“I look like a cursed scarecrow,” he said quietly, eyes narrowing at his reflection.“I'm sorry,” I muttered, trying my best not to laugh. He turned to me, and for a moment I thought he’d finally lose it. But then, to my surprise, his voice softened.“Are you sure you’re okay? That horse nearly crushed you.”I blinked. “Me?”“No one else is here,” he frowned. That's scary. Kael is thinking of me— or he is just a thinking of the baby. That would make more sense. I tilted my head, staring at the dirt running down his jaw. “I'm fine,” I forced a smile. “Thank you but you should go clean up.”He sighed an
XENA’S POVI stared at the bed like it was some kind of trap. There was no way I was going to sleep here. This was my room, why do I have to share it with a stranger. Why do I have to share it with Kael?“We shouldn’t even be here,” I muttered, arms folded as I stood by the wooden bedpost.Kael leaned against the wall with that annoying smirk on his face, his arms crossed like he was enjoying my misery.“Well, plans change,” he said simply, kicking off his boots and stretching like he owned the place.I glared at him. “You promised we wouldn’t stay.”“I changed my mind.”I remained tense, my eyes watching him as he climbed the bed. He turned to me with a smile. *Relax, I'm not like your step father who can't control himself,” he smiled, adjusted his pillow, and faced the other side. “I hate you,” I muttered under my breath. He shrugged like he didn’t hear—or didn’t care.“You can sleep on that side,” he turned to me again. “You can sleep with a knife if it is going to help you calm
XENA’S POVThe door swung open and my heart jumped as I saw him—my stepfather, that snake in a man’s skin. His eyes widened when he saw me standing there. He looked exactly the same. That thick jaw, the patchy beard, and the judgmental glare I had nightmares about. “Xena?” he croaked like the name was a curse, his face pale like he has just seen a ghost. I nodded, my voice caught in my throat. Before I could even speak, he grabbed me by the arm roughly. “You have no right to be here!” he hissed, trying to shove me off the porch like I was some stray dog.But before his push could even move me, Kael’s hand came out of nowhere and stopped him mid-motion.My stepfather froze. His mouth fell slightly open as he looked up at Kael.Kael walked between us. “Be careful what you touch,” he said calmly. “You could lose a hand.”My stepfather blinked at him, completely taken aback by the audacity od the stranger but luckily for him and unluckily for me, he didn't press further. He pulled his
XENA’S POVI sat on the floor of my room, my knees pulled to my chest, my face soaked with tears. I wasn’t even trying to wipe them away anymore. My chest felt hollow, like someone had reached inside and yanked my heart out with bare hands. Susan. That bitch. I trusted her, she became my first best friend, someone I could rely on but I was just feeding my blood to a mouth sucking vampire. I pressed my forehead against the cold wall as I cried harder. This was jtst too much to bear. Why create me, moon goddess, are you that cruel? What have I possibly done wrong to be given this cruel fate. Born as an impure wolf, locked up for years, became an orphan, the love of my life cheated on me with my sister, I was sold to a terrible person who only cares about what is growing in my belly— something that I wasn't his, and now? What should I use to describe this situation? The door creaked open.I stiffened, slowly turning to the door. Kael walked in, his eyes narrowed but as usual his face
KAEL’S POVThe Russians had just left, satisfied and smug, walking out like they now owned half the city. I didn’t like their confidence, but business was business, and the deal was sealed. It was done. They needed money and I needed more men— loyal men. People saw it as a low interest loan deal but the sharp ones saw it as selling their loyalty— their empire. I poured myself another drink and downed it before it even had a chance to settle in the glass.Just as I turned toward the window, the club’s double doors swung open, and the Mistress—Lucía walked in. “¡Dios mío! Kael, mi amor, I am losing business!” she began, hands flying everywhere as her voice rose. “All these young girls walking around like butterflies—fresh, pretty, with nothing but desperation in their eyes. My girls? They sit idle, we are losing money.”I ignored her, pouring myself another drink. She walked to me, clearly pissed that I was ignoring her. “Remember you owned half of this club. No customers, no money.
XENA’S POVSusan was down on the couch, knitting as she talked about some boring things I didn't care to listen to. My mind was fixed on the rain beating the window, my mind clouded with different unsettling thoughts. I wanted answers. I needed answers. Part of me doesn't want to believe that Kael is a monster but the other knew he was. Kael was just impotent and desperate to have a child. I can't imagine the pressure he feels. He has to have an heir and I was his redemption. Poor Kael, I wanted protection and he just wanted a child— this was the sick conclusion I finally arrived at after an endless search. But what about the child he killed wasn't it his?Jared insisted that Kael was a monster if he can't own up that he is impure. I had to tell him about his mate and how desperate he is in finding them but as usual Jared refused to accept my logic. He insisted that I come with him before it became late. “You know,” she said, her voice soft and too cheerful for my mood, “the Noir
