Finding the truth

Running in the dark woods with the only source of light being the lightning of thunder as they rumbled, the sounds of owls hooting could be heard, and the stamping of Annabelle's bare feet on the muddy ground leaving prints behind.

The sound of a growl from a distance made her nearly stumbled over tree roots laying horizontally on the floor.

Peeking behind her to see what had growled, she got dumbstruck at the sight of a masculine but treacherous looking wolf.

Not being sure if she was chased by the wolf, she decided to take another direction since the animal wasn't close to her, as it could be that it was chasing its prey and she really didn't want to get involved.

After taking another direction, she then realised that she was being chased by the wolf which made her freak out.

She couldn't be running away from her kidnapper and at the same time be running away from a freaking wolf.

The wolf was already close to her and she was exhausted from running because she had been running for a long time and had no chance to take a breather.

Stumbling over a tree stump, she fell to the ground as she tried catching her breath and was also shivering due to the excessive cold as she got soaked by the rain.

Sitting up when she heard a snap behind her, she spun around and that was when she saw the wolf reaching gradually towards her.

Gradually standing up to her feet, she shivered due to both cold and fear as she slowly stepped backwards with her arms raised above her head in surrenderance as she stared at the wolf.

"No, no, no," she grumbled while the wolf walked towards her.

They were both now staring at each other and it felt so familiar to her.

After taking a deep breath, she was determined not to die as a coward, so she spun around and ran.

She hadn't gone far when she felt a force on her which made her fall roughly on the floor.

Wincing in pain as a large tree branch had fallen on her, she tried crawling away from it, but couldn't.

"Help….. someone help me!!'' she screamed when she was unable to crawl from beneath the tree that had pressed her to the floor.

"Ahhhh!!" she cried in grieve as the bone cracking noise of the wolf transforming into a human could be heard.

Shivering like a scaredy cat, she watched as the strange guy that had just transformed into a human walked towards her.

With a pull, he raised up the tree branch for her to crawl out but instead she remained where she was as she was too scared to move a muscle.

"Get out!" he yelled at her, which brought her back to her senses as she immediately crawled from beneath the tree branch.

"What were you thinking?" he asked as he walked towards her while she was seated on the muddy floor with her body covered with mud as she kept getting soaked by the rain.

"Don't touch me!" She yelled at him in fear as he was about to help her up.

"Annabelle, don't be scared of me, okay? I'll explain everything but let's go home now, it's not safe here," he tried assuring her as he stared around to be sure they were safe and haven't passed the territory

"My nerves are totally frayed, " she cried as she crawled away from him.

"I know, now let's go home," he said as he remained squatted where he was since he didn't want to scare her.

"You are a werewolf," she said while shuddering.

"I won't hurt you Annabelle, trust me."

"Why should I trust you?" she yelled at him as she was getting ready to run away.

"Annabelle you'll only get hurt if you try running away," he said, knowing what she was about to do.

"Try and stop me," she said before running away.

Ruffling his hair, he ran after her in order to be able to stop her before she'll pass the boundaries.

Running on the slippery ground, she had fallen many times but still got up as she continued running.

She was running for her life, it was a do or die race.

Stumbling over a tree stump, she fell to the floor as she was now covered with mud.

Wincing in pain, she tried getting up but was stopped.

Turning to see who had stopped her from rising up, her world stopped spinning when she saw the strange guy behind her.

Screaming in fear she pushed him away as she tried getting up but was still stopped by him.

"Calm down, Annabelle!" he yelled frustratedly at her but she refused to listen as she still tried struggling to escape.

"Let me go…..please," she pleaded as she shivered due to cold and fear.

"Stop struggling okay, I'll let you go but don't try running away again," he said and she nodded immediately.

Releasing her from his grip, he helped her on her feet while she shivered as though she was about to die.

"Take a deep breath," he told her and instantly obeyed.

"How do you feel now?"

She only shook her head as she was unable to form a word.

"Ouch!" her legs crippled as she sank into the mud.

"Let me help?" he said as he squatted before her but she shook her head in disapproval because she wouldn't be able to make an escape if he carries her.

"No! I'll come out on my own," she said as she tried pulling herself out but couldn't.

He only watched as she struggled to come out but couldn't.

"Give me your hands," he said as she reluctantly placed her hand in his and he pulled her out without any difficulties.

"What was that?" she asked as she wiped her hands on her muddy dress.

"What?" he asked as they continued walking.

"The sparks, you felt it right?" she asked as she stared at him.

"I felt it," he replied simply.

"So what's wrong with your hands?"

"I will tell you when we've reached home."

He wasn't surprised when she attempted running again, but he held her back.

"I am sorry Annabelle, but I have to do this," he said and she immediately became unconscious.
