Jackson

Pain doesn’t come all at once, it creeps in slowly.

It starts as a low hum beneath my skin, a vibration so familiar I almost mistake it for calm. For control. For the hybrid settling after the storm. I lie still on the stone floor of the sacred chamber, staring up at the carved ceiling, watching torchlight bend and blur, and I tell myself I survived again.

But my body doesn’t believe me.

Every breath feels too shallow, like my lungs are no longer entirely mine.

The power inside me coils and recoils, restless, unsatisfied.

It presses against bone and blood, testing for cracks, searching for weak points. I can feel it everywhere under my ribs, along my spine, in my hands where sparks of silver gold energy flicker and vanish like dying stars.

I clench my fists and the stone beneath my palms fractures. That scares me more than Kai ever did.

“Jackson.”

Aliya’s voice reaches me before her touch does. Soft, careful like she is approaching something wounded and dangerous at the sam

AliyaPain is not the first thing I feel, it's weight. It presses down on me from every direction above, below, inside my chest until I can barely tell where my body ends and the ritual begins. The stone beneath Jackson glows blindingly bright, symbols spinning and reforming like living things, and the air vibrates so violently my teeth chatter.I can’t tell if the tremor in my hands is fear or power. Maybe both.Jackson arches beneath me with a hoarse cry, his back lifting off the platform as silver-gold energy erupts from his skin in violent waves. The hybrid is no longer contained it’s emerging, vast and radiant and terrifying in its scope. I feel it brush against me, not physically, but somewhere deeper than flesh. My wolf whimpers but not in fear. In awe.“Aliya!” Jackson gasps, his fingers clawing weakly at the stone. “It’s too much, I can’t”“Yes, you can,” I snap, leaning over him, planting my hands firmly over his heart. The moment I make contact, the bond detonates.Pain

AliyaThe mountain doesn’t welcome us. It looms. Jagged stone claws at the sky, its silhouette broken and uneven like a crown shattered by violence. Clouds cling to its peak, thick and low, and the air grows colder with every step we take toward the ravine Jackson described. My wolf presses close inside me, hackles raised, instincts screaming that this place is old older than packs, older than laws, older than mercy.Jackson stumbles beside me.Not weak. Strained.Like something vast is wearing a body too small to hold it.I keep one arm wrapped around his waist, the other braced against his chest, feeling the unnatural heat beneath his skin. The bond thrums violently between us, no longer just a connection but a conduit, carrying fragments of his pain, his urgency, his fear straight into my bones.“You are still with me,” I murmur, more for myself than for him.His breath ghosts across my temple. “Barely.”The path narrows as we descend into the ravine, stone walls rising on either

AliyaThe first hint of chaos hit the sacred pack before I even saw it. The wind shifted sharply, carrying with it the scent of smoke, scorched earth, and something darker Kai. My wolf surged inside me, a growl vibrating through my chest, ears flattened, every instinct screaming danger. Jackson stiffened beside me, muscles coiled, hybrid energy thrumming beneath his skin like a living storm.“Aliya” His voice was low, rough, trembling. “He’s here. He is moving fast. We don’t have time.”I pressed my hands to his chest, feeling the surge of power ripple through him, the gold and silver veins flickering wildly, sparks of energy lighting the dim hall. My wolf roared softly, pressing against his hybrid, coaxing, tethering, grounding. “We will face him,” I whispered fiercely. “Together. No matter what.”Grace’s voice cut through the tension, sharp and commanding. “He’s probing the pe

AliyaThe evening was heavy, almost suffocating, as if the air itself had learned to fear Jackson’s presence. The sacred pack hall was quiet, the kind of quiet that hums with tension, where every shadow looks like it might move, every floorboard might betray your step.Jackson sat across from me, wolfed, still recovering from the morning’s training, amber eyes glowing softly as sparks of residual hybrid energy flickered across his skin. His chest rose and fell in ragged rhythms, and even now, after hours of exertion, I could feel him pressing against the edge of control.I brushed my fingers along his fur, feeling the residual power ripple beneath my touch. My wolf hummed inside me, alert, uneasy, sensing the shift in the air that I could not yet place. Something was coming. I could feel it, a weight pressing in from outside the walls of the sacred pack, a predator’s patience and fury.“Aliya,”

AliyaThe first rays of dawn were pale, almost shy as they slanted through the high windows of the sacred pack’s training hall. Dust floated in the air like tiny stars caught in a slow, lazy current, and the scent of earth, sweat, and power pressed against my senses. Jackson sat in the center of the room, crouched low, muscles taut, amber eyes glowing faintly. His wolf form pressed against him like a living armor, restless, dangerous, raw.I swallowed hard, trying to steady my nerves. He had barely slept since the night before, barely eaten. Every heartbeat thudded in tandem with the pulse of his hybrid energy, and my wolf trembled inside me, aware, alert, nervous. My hands itched to touch him, to anchor him, to soothe the constant storm. But today wouldn’t be gentle. Today would be about control. About focus. About harnessing a power that could destroy or protect everything we cared about.Grace stood at the edge of the hall, her presence calm but commanding. She hadn’t slept eithe
