LOGINI stood there with tears in my eyes that day. I knew I was not deeply in love with Dean, but I loved him in the way a wife could. I had always suspected he was there for the fortune, but seeing him stand with another woman cut deep. Betrayal always does. And that was when he came—the man who would change everything, the man I would end up falling for, the man I would one day want to give everything to. Kaden Mitchell. He offered me a way out when I thought it was all over. Charming and imposing, he broke through every defense I had built, dragging me out of the darkness and giving me something to hold on to. A marriage contract. What started as a calculated deal quickly became more than I anticipated. And now, with Kaden Mitchell by my side holding the key to my heart, I have to ask myself: how much am I willing to risk…for love, for power…for revenge?

I stood in my living room with the divorce papers in my right hand and my other hand clutching the mail I received saying a transfer of properties.
I wiped the tears from my face and looked down at the papers again as I tried to recall what happened the night before.
I was drugged, that fucker drugged me because I felt dizzy after taking that drink.
My phone pinged, and a message from an unknown sender came through, telling me to go to a place I didn’t recognize.
I pulled on my jacket and slid into my car and drove off.
“Sorry miss, but you can’t go in without an invite.” The guard said.
From the look of it, it was an event estate, the kind used for weddings and private events, gardens wrapping around it.
“Get out of my way,” I yelled. But the guards didn’t budge.
I stood there stupefied by what I was seeing. Dean’s silhouette came through with a brunette in his arms.
I gasped. “Is that Samantha?” In her white wedding dress, she and my husband walked toward me.
“Let her in,” Dean ordered the guards.
Heat surged through me and a sharp ache knotted in my chest as I stormed toward them.
“Nice to join us dear wife, or should I say ex-wife,” he said. Flashing his white teeth.
“What is this, Dean? What the hell is going on?” I demanded.
“Exactly what you think this is,” he said, smirking.
I slapped him hard across his face and he laughed like a maniac.
“Hey, watch it,” Samantha snapped, stepping in front of Dean.
“You bitch,” I yelled. “You are my assistant, and to think you had eyes for what’s mine makes you so disgusting.”
“Don’t speak to my wife that way,” Dean cut in. “Guards!” He shouted. “Take this woman out of my presence.”
My fingers twisted in his jacket, knuckles white, my vision blurring until his face doubled in front of me. “You will pay for this, Dean. I promise.”
“Just so you know, Catherine,” He spat, “I own half of the Rosawood shares now, and there’s nothing you can do about it.”
The guards led me out of the building, with Dean and Samantha laughing behind me.
My knees gave out before I even realized I was falling, as the gates slammed shut.

I finally made it to my house. On wobbling legs, I made it to my room as I broke down.
I was ten years old when my parents lay in that hospital bed after a terrible accident. My mother’s words still rang in my ear:
“Catherine, I want you to at least get married by twenty. I don’t want you to be lonely for a long time.” That simple wish had become a shadow I carried with me every step of the way.
I grew up with my aunt. I met Dean at twenty one. I thought we had things in common; that’s why I agreed to marry him. But I was naive and stupid that I didn’t see the handwriting on the wall. And now I’m back to that lonely girl who had lost her parents that night, who always hides from the world– my chest felt hollow, like something inside me had been ripped out and left open.
I clutched the sheets as the betrayal dawned on me. I cried and cried until there were no more tears left in my eyes.

Catherine Rosawood, I heard my name as I looked up to see a man looming over me.
I was in a pub, downing shots upon shots to kill the pain, but I guess drinking can’t always mend a broken heart.
“Who are you?” I asked, gurgling.
He pulled the chair and sat down. “I’m Kaden Mitchell,” He said, leaning back in the chair.
“Wait, as in Mitchell’s empire?”
“I guess I’m that famous,” He said, taking a sip of my drink.
I really looked at him this time: Dark hair, brown eyes. He sat there in his sleek black suit and Armani watch, looking like a god.
“What would the CEO of such an enterprise want with me?” I asked.
“And what would a Heiress be doing in a pub this late at night?” He asked back, never taking his cold gaze away from me.
“None of your business,” I snapped.
“Hmm…. Well, I have come with a proposal for you, Catherine.”
Now that got my attention. “What?”
“A marriage contract.”
Kaden I came back to meet a sleeping Catherine on the couch. I crouched down and picked her up. She clung to my neck as I took her up to her room.“You’re back,” she said sleepily.“Yeah, I’m back,” I said, patting her head. “Now go back to sleep.”I stood up to leave when she lightly clutched my fingers.“Thank you, Kaden.”I nodded and left.Sunshine streamed through the window as I blinked my eyes open. I padded to the bathroom and went about my business.“Already leaving?” Catherine asked from the staircase.“Yeah. Early meeting.”“Okay, break a leg.”“Catherine,” I called as she turned to walk back up.“Yeah?”“What did Kai say to you the other day?”“How did you know about that?” she asked, stepping down the stairs.“I saw him leave the house on my cameras.”She gasped. “You’ve got cameras in the house?”“Oh, don’t be silly, Catherine. On the driveway. There are cameras there, and I always know who comes and leaves.”“Oh.”“Yeah. Now tell me—what did he say? And hurry up, I’ve
Kaden “Hey, brother,” Kai said, dropping into the chair.Kai’s my half- brother. I was seven when my father remarried. Just a few months later,Kai was born. Turns out my old man had been cheating on my mother.“What do you want, Kai?” I asked, never looking up from my computer.“Can’t I drop by and see how my big bro is doing?” “Well, big bro is busy running the company, Kai. I don’t have time for chit-chat.”“Well then.” He stood and left the office.I called my assistant to make a reservation for two. We needed to make an appearance as a couple If people were going to buy our marriage, though I don’t give a fuck what people thought.I came from old money. My family was solely built on tradition. and my grandfather even my father honored this tradition, and now it was up to me to honor mine. Marry before forty to acquire the whole of the empire, or lose it to my half baked uncles. and I’d rather die than let the latter happen.I’d worked my ass off for this empire, and I wasn
Catherine Lying on my bed that night, my mind kept drifting back to that text. Someone was trying to instill fear in me. And then there was Kaden’s brother—how did he know I was Kaden’s fiancée? That was weird. The threats… all of it didn’t sit right with me.Sleep didn’t come easily. The next morning, I stood in the kitchen making a cup of coffee when Kaden walked in, looking like the god he was.“Good morning, wife.”“Uh… I have a name, Kaden. Use it.”“I’ll call you whatever I want to, wife.”“And I want you to address me by my name,” I shot back.“You are a stubborn woman,” he said.“And yet you want me as a wife.”His lips twitched slightly, almost like a smile, but it faded quickly. He took my coffee, downed the rest of it, and walked away.I flipped through the company files I had taken from my old house, scanning page after page.Numbers. Transfers. Signatures.I leaned back, rubbing my temples. Then I picked up my phone and called Elena.“Hello, Cat.”“Listen, El, can you ch
Catherine“You are about to remarry, Catherine?” My aunt yelled over the phone.“Yes, Aunt, I’m about to remarry. I can’t lose everything. Dean won’t get away with it, he can’t. So just trust me on this.”It took a moment before I heard her voice again.“Alright, Catherine. You better know what you’re doing. I love you, kiddo.”She hung up. My aunt had always been supportive of my choices in life, but it still hurt that Dean had been my first choice.A knock came at the door, and I opened it as the movers made their way in, carrying my stuff to their van. With one final look at my house, I slid into my car and we zoomed off. Kaden had promised to retain the property for me.After I settled into Kaden’s home— or should I say, our home now—I looked around. I knew we were not yet married, but that was part of the contract. I dropped to the couch as tears stung my eyes. I had not expected to be here, but it was what it was. I wiped my face and promised myself that I would never cry over
