“Sir,” Asher called me panicking,

I ignored him, pressing my laptop in the office.

He hurriedly shut down the windows and locked the office door.

I raised my head to look at him, he seemed sweating and out of space.

“Boss, she called the police on you?”

“Who?” I asked, looking at his frightened look.

“The one who saw him last. Who reported it if not her.” Asher respounded, as his expression changed.

“Boss, What will you do? The police are downstairs already coming up.

“Open the windows, stop making us look suspicious. Don't worry I will handle it my way.” I replied, and he made the office glasses visible.

He went out to direct the police men into the office. He looked so frightened, and out of place.

I wondered why Aurora would report us to the police, she never asked me what the man's crime was . I thought she was just frightened and wouldn't say anything. I am quite surprised that she would call the police on me. What an interesting girl.

The police men walked into my office, they looked all serious like I killed a man.

Asher confronted them, as they entered my office.

“My Boss can't talk but he hears due to his hearing aid.”

The police man nodded

“Sir Rylan, a report came saying that you tied a man with chains. He was bleeding from intentional injuries inflicted by you.”

I picked up a paper to write my response, but my mother came in.

She walked majestically into my office, her face filled with sweet smiles. Her Hazel color eyes glittering like the sun, her pretty face like that of a woman in her early 30s.

She brings out her hand for a handshake with the officer, “I am Raine Blackwood.”

“Officer, please I will take it from here. He is my son, I will interrogate him myself.”

The police men bowed their heads in greeting and left us while Asher left with them.

“This is why I was against a dumb man taking the CEO seat.” My mom sneered, giving me a disgusted look.

I ignored her picking up my paper diary to reply to her.

She drags it, flinging it outside, her face filled with accomplishment after doing that.

“When will you learn how to speak? I feel so disgusted being around you. A grown man of 30 years still picks up a paper like a little kid before he can talk. Disgusting!! I feel so ashamed when people ask me if you are my son.” Raine Blackwood spat, her face turned sour while she looked at me.

“Why not just give up the seat. My son will take over from you.”

I raised my head to look at her, sometimes I wondered if she was really my mother. I know she hated me because of my father. I sniffed in the tears threatening to fall. But a grown man cannot cry because he will look weak. I am a man now, not a kid seeking his mothers love. I just see myself as one of the unlucky kids that met a bad mother.

I picked up another writing diary because I have a lot of them in the office. I used it to communicate with workers.

“What do you want,” I wrote on the paper.

“Tsk! Tsk!! Tsk!!( her face disgusted as she picked the paper) it's simple!! Just sign here, to give my son our surname. Your grandfather refused my son to bear our surname Blackwood. Sign here and I will stop the police investigation.” She stated, flashing fake smiles at me.

I wrote again, “What makes you think that I will do that? Who are you to order me?”

She chuckled and stood up from my office couch, “You took one of my men, the one I sent to follow you and report your every move. My Lover has been missing, and I believe you are holding him. Don't think so much about today's event, your wife reported you and she said she can testify against you.”

“So Rylan, do you want the investigation to start? Don't you think it will affect the mall construction? Tomorrow's headlines will be "CEO RyLan got arrested for attempted murder, I believe the media will feast on such news. Rylan the ball is now in your court. Sign here and Everybody will be happy.”

AuRORa POV

The rain was falling heavily, but I was in a very good mood. I was singing while I put my clothes into my luggage. Ohh yes I am happy, I just reported my husband to the police. There is no way this marriage won't end once he gets arrested.

“This vase looks expensive!!” I picked up two white porcelain vase on my table.

“If I sell this I will get lots of money right? I am not stealing right? I am just taking my alimony since I can't request for a share of property. After all, it's been just two days since I got married.”

I hurriedly put it in my box.

If my mom asked me why I came back, I will just say my husband got arrested. So the marriage has ended.

“Ohh smart me!!”

I dragged my box downstairs, the maid Rhoda had already left for the day.

Before I could take a step down the stairs, I remembered my hair dryer. I left my suitcase and rushed to my bathroom to fetch the missing item. I hurried out after picking it and forced It into my box.

“Eh eh mm” I heard someone clear his throat, I looked up only to meet Rylan and Asher down the stairs.

The both of them stood side by side, looking up at me.

Our gazes at each other were very intense, I felt like running away but how do I do it?

My heart skipped a beat as I felt cold running down my spine. A scene I forgot flashed through my mind, the murder scene that I forgot. It was them, they stood exactly as they did that night. The images of them vividly appeared in my memory. The man with the baseball bat was Rylan. He killed a man and I saw it. Is that the reason why he married me? To shut my mouth forever? How did he escape the police station? Am I part of their game? Will they also kill me? How did I get into this situation? I need to call the police!!!!

I shifted backward as they climbed the stairs coming to me. I screamed and fell down with my butt hitting the hard floor.

I screamed until my throat burned, until tears soaked my hair and the sheets beneath me.“Push, Aurora,” the doctor urged. “You’re doing well. Just breathe and push.”I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t think. The only thing on my mind was how I could strangle Rylan to death if I saw him right now.My hands clawed at the bed as another contraction slammed into me, stronger than the last. I cried out, my body shaking violently as I tried to push again. It felt endless like my body had been locked in this torment forever.“Mummy…” I sobbed.Aaliyah my mum was right beside me, gripping my hand with both of hers, her face pale with fear but her voice steady. “I’m here, my baby. Palm trees swayed lazily above, and soft music drifted from the beach bar behind her.She looked effortless in her bikini, confidence clinging to her like perfume. For nine months now, this had been her sweet life, sun, luxury, indulgence. No worries, and no memories she couldn’t outrun.A man crouched beside her, smiling, a small bowl of grapes in his hand. He plucked a grape and leaned in, feeding it to her slowly.Rosie parted her lips, accepted it and then bit his finger lightly, teasing.“Ouch,” he laughed. “Careful, Queen Rosie, don't hurt your tooth. I will cry if you do.”She smirked, removing her sunglasses just enough to look at him.He studied her for a moment, curiosity creeping into his voice. “You know… when you left for Ireland, you were poor and broke. That you even made a fake health r

Treat you like dirt! They will pay!”Her eyes hardened.“How dare an illegitimate son’s wife treat my daughter like a thief,” Aaliyah continued. “They will all kneel and beg you for forgiveness.”At her signal, the guards moved. The gate was forced open. A WEEK LATER. RED CALLED A SHAREHOLDER MEETINGA week later, the Blackwood boardroom was filled to capacity.Every seat was occupied. Shareholders, directors, silent observers each one carried a different expression, but all shared the same curiosity. Power was about to change hands, and everyone could feel it. Everyone was ready to sell their shares since the Blackwood family was falling.Red Blackwood stood at the head of the long mahogany table, dressed in a sharp red gown, her posture confident, her chin lifted like a queen already crowned. She placed both palms on the table and scanned the room slowly.“Let’s not waste time,” she said coolly. “Anyone willing to sell their shares to me…raise your hand.”There was a brief hesitation. How self depreciating she was to herself. And she is at the stage of being unstable.“I still love you, Blarke,” Raine continued desperately. “You see Dylan? I lied about him. I only said those things to make you jealous. He is my brother’s son, not mine. I never cheated on you. Never. My assistant and I..w
