"Where are you headed?" Asher inquired, his face as serious as if I had committed a crime.

I remembered the voice that night; it was his. I was so drunk that I forgot what they did to me. Their gaze on me was intense, like they wanted to kill me that night.

I shifted backward, holding my box tightly.

They walked towards me, Rylan stretched his hands for me, to grab on it. I ignored his helping hand and held the suitcase instead, leaning on it to stand up.

Flashes of the bloody baseball bat appeared as I stared at his long hands. My vision became more vivid while looking at the same hands from that frightening night. I trembled violently, my legs shaking as I fixed my gaze on him.

That night, his strong arms lifted me onto his shoulders, as I shouted and kicked, calling him a murderer. I could not shake the image from my mind of him driving me home while I was drunk. He tossed the fried chicken from my pocket and then dropped me off at my family’s gate.

It was totally him!! He always knew where my house was!!

Is this the reason he decided to marry me? To close my mouth forever? Will they kill me because I witnessed the crime?

The smell of blood hit me hard, and I instinctively moved away from him.

“I... I’m... not going anywhere!!” I yelled, giving Asher a cold stare.

“Mind your own business!!(I snapped at Asher) "I want to wash my clothes in the laundry room." I pointed out of the door. Rylan shifted my hands and pointed them in the direction of the laundry room.

"Yes, I meant there," I said, closing my eyes in embarrassment.

He scoffed, “But there is a laundry room upstairs. "Why are you coming downstairs?"

Rylan stared at him, then at the luggage. He walked away shaking his head and Asher dragged my suitcase along.

Dragging it upstairs he screamed,”Why is this heavy? What is inside?”

“Is there a human head inside?”

I Ignored his questions, I stood watching them climb the stairs. I shifted backward, attempting to run away slowly. They stopped and turned to me.

“Aren't you coming up too?” Asher asked, his face puzzled.

“Of course I am. Or do you think I am running away?” I smiled nervously.

“Tomorrow is another day, I can run away tomorrow. He might be arrested tomorrow, maybe the police are investigating the case already. Maybe it's still early to run.” I thought deeply.

I hurried to climb the stairs, after them. Asher dragged my luggages into my room.

“You should be happy, my boss doesn't want to talk about today's event!! If not I personally would have kicked you out of this house!!” Asher snapped at me while he kicked my luggage fiercely.

“Don’t assume I’m unaware of your plans to escape!! How could you do that to your husband?” He gestured towards my face.

“who are…”

He interrupted me.

“For ruining My Boss plans, I will make sure you pay for it.” He spat and pushed me out of his way.

I struggled to stand on my feet, so I wouldn't fall on my butt again.

“You..” Before I could fight back he had already left my room.

“Such Disrespect!! Who does he think he is!!”

Why didn't Rylan get arrested? Where should I run to? They all hate me here. I guess nowhere is home for me afterall!!

I slumped to the floor, hugging my box tightly. I felt very weak to say anything, all my plans to escape got ruined. Can I really escape this marriage?

RYLAN POV

Has she recalled what happened that night? Her attitude was different this time. She seemed so scared of me this time. How do I explain things to her? Would she believe me? Her face was filled with terror. Does she now see me as a murderer?

But Aurora is so pretty; even her scared face, she still looked so lovely. Her small face, and soft plump lips.

I can't wait to have her.

My thoughts halted as I heard a knock.

“Aurora is here,” I said in my mind, as my heart jumped happily.

“Boss,” Asher called. I heard that annoying voice of Asher, I sighed. I thought Aurora would come to my room, but she didn't.

Asher rushed in , ”Sir, Are you really letting her go? She just destroyed three years of your plans? Now that bastard has your surname. Don't you think you should kick her out before she does more than this?”

“Why are you screaming? Do you want everyone to hear you?” I stared at him coldly.

"Boss, I apologize. I just felt sorry for you. You grew up around evil people, and now you are married to one of them. Sir, what if she ruins your plans? Raine plans to use her against you. Sir, we need to be cautious of her!!" Asher added, his expression grave.

“Yes, I know. She doesn't need to know that I can talk now. I don't want Raine to hear about it. Aurora isn't such a person, once she gets to know me. She won't do it again. You can go!!” I added, signaling him to leave.

He turned to leave but stopped.

“Sir, about the dead man. The case has been closed and his family carried his remains. “ Asher spoke in a sad tone.

"Should we proceed with plan two? Dylan will start working for the company soon. Now that he has the surname Blackwood, he will arrive soon."

"Tell Anne not to come to my house again. Her attitude towards my wife was very bad. I don't want it to happen again.” I ordered, signalling him to leave.

“But Sir, She is just concerned about you. You know she meant no harm.” Asher said, with a soft voice trying to convince me.

"Call my wife as you leave." I responded, ignoring his plea.

  • Marriage of Deceit   FIRST REAL KISS

Continuation of Rylan’s POV.I opened Aurora's room door and shut it behind me.The words of the doctor still rang in my head, “She’s fine. There’s nothing wrong with her leg. If she’s still using those crutches, then it’s either for drama or for your attention.”I stood there frozen, watching her expression harden the moment the doctor left. She didn’t even look at me just sat there stiffly, her hands gripping the sides of the couch, knuckles white.I hated that she looked for me and I wasn't there. I hated myself more for even asking her if she was cosplaying.I moved closer. Slowly. Quietly. She finally turned her face, and her eyes met mine — not angry, not teary. Just… disappointed. The silence between us cracked something inside me.I picked up the notepad I’d replaced after she tore the last one, and quickly wrote:“I am sorry!! I shouldn’t have spoken to you like that.”She didn’t respond.I sat beside her, close but not too close. I wanted to reach out at least touch her

  • Marriage of Deceit   FAKING AN INJURY

RYLAN'S POVAsher opened the door and dropped her crutches beside me before she stepped in. My heart stopped.Crutches? What the hell happened? She never said a word to me, not when she came home drenched last week, not ever. It's like she’s made it her life’s mission to keep me in the dark. Maybe because she still doesn’t trust me. Not with her pain. Not with her truth.“You didn't tell me you're a teacher,” she said suddenly, a smile tugging at her lips like everything was fine.Fake smile. Like always.“You didn’t ask,” I wrote on my pad, eyes never leaving her face.I narrowed my eyes. “So what’s this then? Cosplay? What’s with the crutches?”Her smile vanished, replaced by a sharp glare. But she didn’t answer. She just turned away, gazing out the window like I wasn’t even there. Like I didn't exist.I tapped her arm and wrote again:“Is your tongue tied?”She snapped. “Rylan, you’ve been gone for a week. A full damn week. How would you know I hurt my leg?”Her voice cracked, eye

  • Marriage of Deceit   THE SUBSTITUTE TEACHER

A WEEK LaterAurora POV.“Hi Alex,” I greeted cheerfully as I stepped into the classroom. He was already by the door, waiting.“Aurora,” he signed quickly, worry etched on his face. Without hesitation, he rushed to me, his eyes scanning my body with concern.I forced a smile, trying to cover up the ache in my chest. He pointed to my crutches, then looked back at me. “What happened?” he signed. His face was all worried that it made my heart ache.“Umm...” I hesitated, then signed back with a small smile, “I fell down the stairs.”His expression tightened. “Why weren’t you more careful? Look at your legs, doesn’t it hurt?”“It’s okay,” I signed, still smiling. His worried look made me somehow happy. Creepy right? I was happy seeing his worried look. Because when I fell screaming, no one in the Grey's house had this look. No one gave me a little bit of care, no one felt pity for me. They just called the ambulance and left me behind. After I fell, I was very sure I saw someone running awa

  • Marriage of Deceit   THE Illegitimate DAUGHTERS

Raine POVWe pulled up to Marylee Alberto's mansion. Hanni stepped out first and opened the car door for me, carefully placing his arm above the frame to keep me from hitting my head.He held out his hand for support.I took it with a small smile. No matter how many times I pushed him away, he always showed up when it counted.“Miss Raine, she’s inside,” he said gently. “You think she’ll even answer us?” He asked, his voice barely above a whisper.I glanced at me, reading the nerves he tried to hide. “Are you nervous?”“Of course I am. You know how difficult she can be.”“Dont worry, have you forgotten it's me. I am not that easily defeated.” I said to him, with a smile. We gently walked me in, the maids in the mansion led us to the waiting room. It was very big and exquisite but it lacked the ancient rich decorations like the Blackwood's mansion. The Blackwood mansion has always been the most famous mansion in Ireland.Marylee came in, she was putting on an expensive golden dress, he

  • Marriage of Deceit   TRUE FACE

“Yes Rylan, I saved you from the fire.” Anne said, with a smile.I smiled and reached for my notepad. “Thank you, Anne. You’ve done so much for me lately… especially today. I owe you. Say whatever’s on your mind.”She smiled shyly. “I just want one thing, spend my birthday with me. You promised to spend my birthday with me, but now you are in the hospital. I hope you will still fulfil that promise.Red chuckled softly. “That’s not too much to ask. Rylan, you should say yes. If it weren’t for that business marriage, you and Anne would be perfect together. A beautiful woman and a handsome man- just look at you two. My prayers are for you Rylan to be happy. Dylan and his mother can't bring you down.”She gave Anne’s hand a gentle squeeze, her eyes full of affection. “Ma, don't worry once Rylan has succeeded. We can still achieve that!! We just have to work harder from now on.”“Yes Red, you are right. They are the best for each other. I know Anne will do her best for my Boss. Since we al

  • Marriage of Deceit   WHO COULD BE RIGHT?

RYLAN POVI lay on the hospital bed, eyes shut, but my mind refused to rest. The memory of what happened clung to me like a shadow. It felt like the whole world was closing in on me. I turned to the other side of my bed, the smell of disinfectant in the hospital room filled my nose making me nauseated. It was lonely… but oddly safe.I was very angry but not just at what my mother had done, but at the thought of her dragging Dylan to block my way in the company. How she planned this to target me. How she wants to control me by all means.Just then, a nurse stepped in, her voice gentle but surprised.“Sir, you’re awake? Let me call your family.”Before I could respond, she hurried out of the room.“Family,” I murmured. “Do I have a family?” Then I recalled the only people that will be happy to see me are only my Aunt Red and Asher. I wondered if Aurora would also be outside waiting for me.Aunty Red rushed in, her face sweaty. She looked very worried and pale. She rushed to my bed, and
