FAZER LOGIN3rd Person POV
“Marriage was supposed to be about love, trust, and building a life together.” That was always Suzy’s answer whenever someone asked her about marriage.
But it seemed like that belief would end today.
Right now, she was sitting in front of a lawyer, holding a pen as a marriage contract lay on the table before her.
“Are you okay, Ms. Suzy?” the lawyer asked seriously, observing her pale face.
Suzy blinked and forced herself to look at the papers again.
“You should sign it already. I still have another meeting to attend,” the lawyer added impatiently.
Suzy lowered her head, her long hair falling slightly over her face. Her vision slowly blurred as tears began to gather in her eyes.
“Do you know when he will come back?” she asked quietly, almost like she was afraid to hear the answer.
“Don’t waste your time asking,” the lawyer replied coldly.
Her lips trembled.
She bit her lower lip as her fingers shook. Slowly, she removed the cap of the pen she was holding and searched for the line where she needed to sign.
The moment the pen touched the paper, a tear finally escaped from her eyes and slid down her cheek.
Even without saying anything, anyone could tell she was hurting.
But what did it matter?
The pain she was feeling now was nothing compared to the mistake she had made before.
“So, after your marriage with Mr. Moreno is officially processed,” the lawyer continued while flipping through the documents, “One-fourth of his assets will be transferred under your name, so—”
“No.” Suzy suddenly interrupted. “I don't deserve it, so I won't take anything from him. I'm okay.”
She looked away and placed the pen down on the table. One of her hands held the other that was still trembling.
“Even if you don't want it, you have no choice,” the lawyer replied calmly. “That is what Mr. Moreno wants.”
The lawyer stood up and extended his hand toward her.
“Congratulations, Mrs. Moreno.”
Suzy slowly stood as well.
She accepted the handshake. The lawyer could clearly feel how much her hand was shaking, but he didn't seem to care.
“I'll leave now. I'll just come back later for the copy of the marriage certificate.”
Suzy simply nodded.
Then she forced a small smile, even though her heart felt like it was breaking into pieces.
As the lawyer walked out of the room, silence slowly filled the space.
Her name was now written beside his.
Suzy Moreno. The name she once dreamed of, she has now achieved but she is not happy.
The man she had just married wasn't even there to witness it. Tears blurred her vision once again.
“This marriage…” she whispered softly to herself. “—was never meant to begin with love.”
When she came down from the second floor where her bedroom was located, she once again found no one around. The house was quiet, too quiet but she was already used to it.
Without bothering to call out or inform anyone, she headed straight outside. There was no one to greet, and no one to tell where she was going anyway.
…
It was Saturday, so she didn’t have school. Since she had nothing planned for the entire afternoon, she decided to visit her neighbor—her elderly friend.
She hopped up and down on her way to the house next door, already wondering what new lesson the old woman would teach her today.
She didn’t ring the doorbell anymore. Instead, she pushed open the waist-high gate and went straight inside, even entering the house without hesitation.
The old woman already knew that she could drop by anytime. It wasn’t like before, when she would wait to be called inside for snacks.
But the moment she stepped in, she didn’t expect to see a man standing in the living room.
She stopped in her tracks and blinked.
He turned to face her, and she didn’t know how many seconds she stood there staring at him “Excuse me? Who are you?” he asked seriously.
“Good morning… Is Grandma Esme here?” she replied, tucking her hair behind her ear.
“Oh, you look familiar. Are you Grandma’s friend?” he asked with a smile.
She blinked when his expression suddenly shifted from serious to smiling.
He walked toward her, and she froze when he grabbed her hand for an enthusiastic handshake.
“I’m Alexander, little girl.” She almost lost her balance from how energetically he shook her hand.
“Suzy, sir,” she answered politely.
“No, you can call me Alex,” he said cheerfully.
“Alright, Alex,” she replied, feeling awkward.
Her heart was beating so fast even after he let go of her hand. “So you’re home already? I thought you wouldn’t be able to come back yet,” she said.
“Oh? You seem to know a lot about me. Do you already know who I am?” he teased.
Her cheeks turned red, and she lowered head. She heard him laugh softly. “Oh yes, I just got home. Are you here to keep Grandma company again? Thank you for always staying with her,” he said warmly.
“It’s nothing… I don’t really do anything at home,” she said shyly.
She tucked her hair behind her ear again. “She’s upstairs getting dressed. We were supposed to eat out.”
“Oh… so you’re going out. I guess I came at the wrong time.” She suddenly felt even more embarrassed.
“It’s fine. Do you want to come with us?” he asked.
“Ah, no, Alex. I just remembered I still have an assignment I need to finish. Just say hi to Grandma for me. Bye!”
She ran out of the beautiful house even though he called after her. She rushed into her room and sat on her bed, breathless.
She pressed a hand against her chest and squeezed lightly. “What just happened?” she asked herself.
She covered her face when she felt it heating up. To shake off the embarrassment, she tried to keep herself busy.
Even though she normally couldn’t finish cleaning her entire room in a single day, surprisingly, she managed to do exactly that.
3rd Person POVThe moment she saw Alexander standing at the front, she immediately walked toward him even though she could clearly feel the sharp glares coming from his mother.Without hesitation, she stood beside him. He merely glanced at her briefly before looking ahead again, toward where Grandma Esme’s body lay in the coffin. The situation already felt unbearably heavy for her, but she knew nothing could ever compare to the pain Alexander was feeling.Grandma Esme was gone because of her negligence. She quietly breathed in relief when several minutes had already passed and Alexander still had not asked her to leave.“You haven’t eaten anything since this morning. Please eat first,” she softly said. She opened the styrofoam container she brought, which contained adobo and rice.“I’m not hungry,” Alexander coldly replied.“Even just a few bites, Alex,” she said quietly.Actually, she was already scared that he might get angry, but she forced herself to stay brave. She scooped some a
3rd Person POVA slap immediately landed on Suzy’s face the moment Alexander’s mother saw her. Her head snapped to the side, and she froze where she stood. “What did you do to our mother?” Mrs. Moreno cried out tearfully.“Hon, stop it. It’s not her fault.” Alexander’s father stepped in front of his wife to stop her. She blamed herself for what happened to Lola Esme, but now that someone is blaming her now, she blamed and hated herself even more.Suzy knew they were not wrong. She was at fault. She slowly fell to her knees. “Please forgive me. There’s no way I can repay what I’ve done,” she whispered. She wanted to cry, but it felt as though her tears had already hardened. Nothing would come out anymore.Alexander could not come home because there had suddenly been a problem with some of his documents, so only his parents were able to come for Lola Esme.“You have no conscience! You let mama end up in that condition, and you’re not ashamed! Is this how you repay her after everything sh
3rd Person POV“Where is Lola Esme? Please take me to her,” Suzy said tearfully to the nurse standing in front of her.The moment she woke up from fainting, Lola Esme was the first person she remembered. “Please calm down, miss. You might faint again,” the nurse said gently. She tried to calm herself, but tears continued to stream down her face.“Mrs. Moreno is currently still in the intensive care unit, and the doctors are doing everything they can to stabilize her condition,” the nurse explained.Suzy felt irritated because it seemed like the nurse was unaffected by everything happening right now. Maybe it was because scenes like this had already become normal for nurses every single day.“C-can I see her now?” she asked weakly. The nurse simply nodded and adjusted Suzy’s intravenous line. She forced herself to calm down and tried not to cry because she was afraid the nurse would refuse to take her to Grandma Esme if she kept breaking down. Just like they agreed, the nurse guided her
3rd Person POV“Is Grandma Esme alright now?” Alexander asked from the other end of the line. She was standing in the hospital corridor, and today was the day she and Lola Esme would finally go home. The doctor had just made sure that Lola Esme could already breathe comfortably before allowing them to leave.“She’s alright, Alex. I just need to take care of the hospital bills,” she replied.“Thank you so much, Suzy. Don’t worry, I’ll be back soon.”“It’s nothing, what are you saying? Lola Esme isn’t just anyone to me, she was already a family, so you don’t need to thank me,” she said. She leaned against the wall, staring straight at the opposite side while still focusing on the man she was speaking to.“Suzy,” Alexander called her name gently. Her heart started beating faster, and she swallowed hard. “Uh huh?”“Can we go out when I get back?” he asked hesitantly, though his nervousness was obvious. She didn’t know what to answer him. For a few seconds, she remained silent.“Let’s just
3rd Person POV“Suzy, you’re already awake. Good morning,” Lola Esme greeted her with a smile.Suzy walked over and gently hugged the elderly woman from behind. “Good morning. You woke up so early.”As soon as she got out of bed, she instinctively looked for the old woman, and just as expected, she found her in the kitchen. Cooking for their breakfast.“That’s how it is when you get older—” the old woman stopped mid-sentence when she suddenly coughed.“Grandma Esme,” Suzy said worriedly as the cough seemed to trouble her.She stepped back a little and gently rubbed the old woman’s back. “W-what are you? I’m fine—” the elderly woman coughed again.“I think it’s because it was cold last night.” Suzy took a glass and filled it with lukewarm water. “And you were wearing something too thin,” she added, sounding like a concerned parent.“It’s nothing, it will be gone tomorrow,” the old woman said.Suzy simply shook her head and handed her the glass. “Here, please drink this. If by this afte
3rd Person POV “Suzy, you’re here!” She straightened up immediately when Alexander entered the yard. She discreetly wiped her face and glanced at the old woman. “Alexander, you’re already here. Come sit with us so you can have some snacks,” Lola Esme said to her grandson with a smile. She let go of the old woman and quietly sat beside her, while the young man took the seat she had been using earlier. “Thanks, Grandma. How are you, Suzy? Grandma Esme and I didn’t see you this morning.” She cleared her throat. “Ahh, my parents were there earlier, so I stayed inside to spend some time with them,” she reasoned out. She was about to take her plate when the young man suddenly grabbed the fork she had been using and took a bite of the biko she had already eaten from. She grimaced slightly and cleared her throat again. “Alexander, my grandson. Is that yours? That belongs to Suzy,” the old woman said sternly. The young man looked at her and grinned. “It’s mine now. I already ate it,” he
