Chapter 1: The Moment My Life Ended

"BEEP!!!!!"

A long warning alarm rang out, and death suddenly came before my eyes.

I helplessly watched as the car rushed straight toward me.

The car's headlights shining directly into my eyes were the most brilliant yet terrifying light I had ever seen. At the moment the car surged toward me like a storm sweeping everything away, I felt a shock and an overwhelming sense of grievance I had never felt before.

Had I lived such a diligent life only to end up like this?

Everything seemed to slow down before my eyes. I recalled yesterday, the day I realized my entire world had completely collapsed.

I am Ella Dominic, my name before got married is Ella Oliver.

Yesterday, I returned home drenched in rain after trying to pick up the birthday cake I had ordered in advance to surprise Lilya and Ryan.

I knew the servants in the house did not like me, so I could not ask the driver to take me. I could only call a ride myself.

The driver of the ride service brought me to the entrance of the luxury apartment complex, then scratched his head and said:

"Oh dear, I can't take you all the way inside. This place strictly controls strangers."

I looked outside. It was still raining quite heavily, but if I ran quickly it should be fine. So I paid the driver and replied:

"It's okay, I can go in by myself."

The driver took the money and looked at me with concern.

"But it's still raining heavily. How about you wait at the shop across the street for a while until it stops?"

I smiled, waved my hand, then opened the car door, hugged the cake in my arms, and ran straight home.

Although the two children were mischievous and always causing trouble, they were still just children who had lost their mother. Whenever I thought of that, I felt that my situation was somewhat similar. Because of that, I always hoped I could do something to make up for their childhood.

I happily placed the cake in the refrigerator and began preparing delicious dishes for their fifteenth birthday party tonight.

Looking at the cake, I rested my chin on my hand and thought about myself.

"I wish I could celebrate my birthday just once."

In the past, I rarely celebrated birthdays because there were too many children in the orphanage, so the teachers could not take care of such small matters individually. After coming to Dominic's house and seeing Leo always busy with work, leaving all the care of the children to the nanny, I began to wonder whether they felt lonely.

I slapped my cheeks to wake myself up, no longer thinking about those things.

"Wake up! There are still so many things to do. Let's see!"

I rolled up my sleeves while humming a familiar tune and looked at the ingredients on the table.

"Today I will turn you all into a meal no worse than a five star restaurant!"

On a birthday, anyone would hope for a complete meal with family. I wanted the two children to feel the warmth of family. Even if they did not truly see me as their mother, at least I did not want them to feel lonely on a birthday prepared by servants.

While cutting vegetables, I thought about the surprised look Leo had when I told him I would personally organize Lilya and Ryan's birthday. He seemed surprised, but only replied indifferently that he would return on time before the party began.

I sighed. Perhaps he still had not felt my efforts and affection for the children.

As I was lost in thought, the sound of the door opening pulled me back to reality.

"Strange, who would come home at this time?"

I murmured and looked out to see Lilya and Ryan returning with other children.

Did they get out early today? I checked the time. It was only a little past three in the afternoon. Usually they did not finish until after four.

The children seemed very curious about me, so as soon as they sat down they excitedly began asking.

"Lilya, is your stepmother at home today? I heard she is very beautiful and good at cooking, right? Do you call her mom?"

"I heard in fairy tales, stepmothers are very evil and always jealous, causing trouble for their husband's children. Is your stepmother a bad person? Is she like in those stories?"

I laughed. These children were quite lively and had very cute thoughts. I opened the refrigerator to take out cake and milk to bring to them when I suddenly heard Lilya sigh, followed by a tone full of disgust.

"Ella is not my mother. Why should I call her that? She was just married by my father to be an unpaid nanny for us."

Her words made me freeze in shock. It was true I had never dared to hope Leo would accept me as his real wife like his former wife, nor that Lilya and Ryan would see me as their real mother. But I had always devoted myself to taking care of them and treated them like my own children.

But why... Why did this child say she saw me as a servant in my own home?

When her friends kept asking, Lilya raised her voice and declared:

"To me, she is just a housekeeper who takes care of us and does housework. She will never become my mother."

I smiled bitterly and quietly put down the things I intended to bring out. Even though I knew it was difficult for them to accept me, hearing those cruel words with my own ears still made my chest tighten.

Something inside me cracked. I had heard so many denials and reminders not to indulge in illusions, so why did it still hurt so much now? I sighed and told myself:

"Come on, how old are you already, getting sad over something like this? She just hasn't accepted you yet."

Putting aside my sadness, I picked up a large plate of seafood and opened the refrigerator.

"Huh? What happened to the cake?"

Seeing that half of the cake was ruined, I exclaimed in surprise. After checking, I realized the refrigerator plug had come loose.

"Oh no, what should I do now? This was a custom cake I ordered and looked forward to so much..."

Helplessness came suddenly like a wave crashing down a wall already full of cracks. I heard something shatter inside me, and tears streamed out. Sitting collapsed by the refrigerator, I wiped my tears and asked myself:

"Why am I crying over such a small thing? Haven't I been strong all this time?"

I knew I was not crying because the cake was ruined, but because seeing it ruined made me realize that all my efforts over the past ten years meant nothing in this house.

Chapter 172: Going Alone to NegotiateMy hands trembled as I held the phone, cold sweat running down my back.Who was it?Who had sent me those messages?I clenched my hand tightly, not even knowing what my face looked like right now. The driver glanced at me through the rearview mirror and asked with concern,"Miss Ella, are you alright? You don't look very well. Are you feeling sick?"Startled, I hurriedly touched my face and cleared my throat a few times to calm myself."Oh, I'm fine. Let's head home. I think I just need some rest."I rubbed my forehead, genuinely having no idea what was happening anymore.Even after I got home, I still hadn't calmed down. Sitting on the sofa, I stared silently at the still-lit phone screen. My fingers gently brushed over the message, and I murmured softly,"Is it you? Leo..."I knew that thought was absurd and impossible. Even if Leo were still alive, after disappearing for so long, how could he possibly know everything that was happening here?Af

Chapter 171: "Don't Do Anything. Just Trust Me."Lina grabbed my hand and asked softly,"What should we do? If Bianca has really lost her humanity, she might hurt the children. We have to find them as quickly as possible."I gently patted Lina's hand to comfort her.The truth was, I had no idea what to do next either. When the children from the orphanage had been kidnapped, Anessa and I had spent many days searching for them. If Nolan hadn't been traveling back and forth between the two places, we would never have found even the slightest clue. This time, Bianca had taken the children with her and left behind no trace whatsoever. We couldn't use the same method we had used to find Nolan. To be more precise, we had absolutely no way of finding Bianca unless she chose to reveal herself.By the time we found her, I was afraid it would already be too late.A cold sweat broke out across my back as I thought about Bianca's reckless actions."This is bad..."Jonas, who was standing beside me

Chapter 170: Drug AddictionI let out a sigh and stood up.Now wasn't the time to think about Bianca. She had gone far beyond the limits of what an ordinary person could understand.According to the nanny, Lilya and Ryan had been taken away a little over an hour ago. We had to find the two children before those people did something harmful to them. What I feared most was Bianca losing control and using the children as leverage against the Dominic family. Naturally, the Dominic family would spare no expense to bring the children back safely. But what would happen to Lilya and Ryan when they witnessed the greed and dark desires of their own mother? How would they feel when they realized that they were nothing more than tools serving someone else's interests? If it were a complete stranger, the fear and pain would eventually fade. But Bianca was the blood relative they had once loved the most. Being betrayed by someone like that would leave wounds and trauma beyond imagination."Anessa,

Chapter 169: KidnappingI rushed over and grabbed Nolan by the collar, furious and ready to punch him a few times, but Jonas caught my arm and said quietly,“Calm down. We’ll end up killing him before we hand him over to the police. That would only make things more troublesome. You know that.”Gritting my teeth, I shoved Nolan hard before getting to my feet. Why was it that despicable bastards always seemed to live forever while kind, decent people were the ones forced to endure endless hardships?Jonas looked at me and let out a sigh. He gestured for the bodyguards to haul Nolan to his feet before turning to me.“I’ll handle things here. Go before it’s too late.”Pressing my lips together, I nodded and turned around, grabbing Lina's hand as we hurried away. That's right. We didn't have any more time to waste on a bastard like Nolan! If anything had happened to the twins, it would be far too great a price to pay for my choice. The helicopter Anessa had called had already arrived. Chapter 168: “Why...? Mom...?”Turning back time, while Ella was on her side preparing a plan of action, at the same moment in the villa, Lilya and Ryan were sitting by the window, bored out of their minds as they stared outside.Lilya let out a sigh, resting her chin on the windowsill as she complained to Ryan.“Ryan, I’m so bored! Can’t we go outside and play?”Ryan was sitting nearby reading a book and drinking tea. Hearing Lilya complain, he set the book down and walked over to sit beside her.“Can’t you see it’s raining outside? We can’t go out.”Lilya sighed again, using her finger to draw a few circles on the window. The rain outside was growing heavier and heavier. The entire atmosphere inside the villa had sunk into a silence so deep that it became dull.Ryan looked at Lilya helplessly before standing up.“Do you want some cake? I’ll find something to do so we won’t be so bored.”Without waiting for Lilya’s answer, Ryan brought her a plate of pastries and a glass of juice. Li

Chapter 167: Setting the TrapI frowned, about to ask Nolan what exactly he meant, when an image of the twins suddenly flashed through my mind.Nolan looked at me and laughed like a madman. His eyes were fixed on me, as though he was already certain of victory.I gritted my teeth and clenched my fists, asking through gritted teeth,"Nolan, explain yourself clearly!"Nolan chuckled. He let out a satisfied breath and casually replied,"Let's see. Between dozens of lives and two lives, that's a pretty difficult choice, isn't it?"I was instantly consumed by rage, feeling the blood rush straight to my head.So this Nolan was even more insane than I had imagined. He had actually reached out toward the twins. He had truly chosen a path from which there was no turning back. The Oliver family had fled overseas in such a hurry because they knew they wouldn't survive in this city after laying their hands on the Dominic family. What a bunch of arrogant bastards.I glanced at Lina and Anessa.
