Nova's POV

The hospital room was quiet now.

After all the crazy news, the crying, and the memories that hit me like broken glass, there was just silence. Heavy silence that made you sit there with feelings you did not know what to do with.

Levi sat down in the chair that was close to my bed. He rested his arms on his knees and his hands kept moving around each other. I could see it in him that he was trying to think of what to say. I felt him staring at me when he thought I was not looking.

But I was looking. I always watched him. That was my problem.

I turned from the window. The morning light hit his face and made him look soft. His eyes found mine. He looked like he wanted something but was scared too.

"I know this is bad timing," he said in a low voice. "But we have to talk. Just us two. No one else is around."
