Jane blinked, trying to remain calm and indifferent as her heart shuddered inn her chest. “What do you mean?” Jane asked, carefully scanning Erica’s face. Rainwater continued to beat against the closed windows as the sounds of storm and rain filled the kitchen. Jane had a drink in one hand and her phone in the other, staring out the clouded window, lost in thought. Work that day had been hectic for Jane and she had come back home with hope to speak with Liam. Not just to fish information about the state of his company or the discussions she had overheard during their trip, but just to… speak with him. It was rare to see Liam joke around like this with her. “Ehh, freak? Yes. Not sure about the rest tho,” she said with a shrug, playing along.
