"Oh, please stop the hypocrisy attitude, Kelly. Stop acting like you and Dexter were on good terms before his arrest. He hated you with the whole of him. Here you are, ready to take a bullet for you. I doubt if he would be willing to do the same for you," Doctor Escobar fired back at Kelly.
He had no plans to indulge himself in the case until Kelly decided to become emotional. He had no choice but to react immediately.
"Mr. Cooper, like I told you in the day, you will be discharged tomorrow. Please - try your best to avoid any trouble. I don't want you getting hurt. You should know what I'm talking about," Doctor Escobar advised George. It might sound like a doctor's advice to a patient, but Kelly knows that Escobar was taking a jibe at him.
"Thank you doctor
I can't wait for tomorrow," George smiled, shook hands with Doctor Escobar, and turned to the other sides of the bed. He tried his best to avoid any eye contact with Kelly, who had been there for him since he was hospitalized.
"Olivia, come with me," Doctor Escobar authorized. He walked out of the ward, leaving Kelly alone with George to sort things out themselves.
After Doctor Escobar's departure, Kelly paced around the ward for a couple of minutes, processing what had just happened.
The only words he could utter were. "I can't believe this! I can't believe this!"
The way he repeated the utterances, made it seem like he was rehearsing for some powerful company's presentation.
He got tired of speaking to himself and went over to George who was still facing the other side of the bed.
George felt that someone was closer to his bed. Silently, he prayed and wished it wasn't Kelly. That was the only time he wished for Kelly to leave.
"Likes seriously, George. You are going to pretend to fall asleep while your first son is passing the night in the cell?" Kelly spoke with aggressiveness.
George didn't bother reacting to Kelly's rantings. He shut his eyes, pretending to sleep while he wasn't.
He thought that would be enough to make Kelly leave. Unfortunately, Kelly was adamant to the point where he was forced to tap George's leg.
The tap on the leg irritated George more than anything else.
He tried his best not to retaliate.
Kelly saw that and kept making an effort to get on George's nerves. Eventually, he succeeded in getting into George's thick skin.
"Kelly!" George sparked outrageously. He forgot Doctor Escobar's warning about staying out of trouble to avoid a repeat of the heart attack.
"What do you want me to do about this? Didn't you hear what the doctor said about my health? Or do you want to complicate things?" George snarled.
"Who cares about what the Doctor said? We both know he was only trying to spite me. Why am I even talking about him? He doesn't matter anyway. I only care about Dexter," Kelly insisted. He stood in the presence of George to mark the presence.
Without uttering a word, George took out his phone, dialed some numbers, and dropped it
Not too long after that happened, Kelly's phone beeped. He brought it out from his pocket, looked at the text, and shook his head sideways in pity.
The text was somewhat complicated. He had no idea how to react to it.
Kelly spent the last few minutes staring at his phone. He suddenly became speechless. When he finally got the chance to speak, he said. "So you finally decided to pay me off for the night so I can stay off the case?"
"I'm glad you can still read. Anyway, that wasn't the response I expected from you. A little appreciation would do. Ten thousand dollars doesn't come easily these days. I am pretty sure it would replace the time you spent with me," George spoke and winked at Kelly.
I'm still glaring at his phone, Kelly walked out of the ward and buried his face to the ground in shame.
That was the only moment that his poor financial status hurt him. All his life, he hasn't been insulted that way before.
"I am sorry, dear friend. It shouldn't have ended this way. But I had no choice. You were becoming a pain in my ass. I needed to do something about it. Paying you off was the only way," George mumbled in regret shortly after Kelly's departure.
He was tempted to call Kelly immediately and apologize for humiliating him that way if only Kelly would stop talking about Dexter.
From the few Georges witnessed, he doubts that Kelly would be ready to back down from the case anytime soon
Immediately Kelly stepped outside to the reception, he met Doctor Escobar addressing the nurses.
Immediately, Kelly changed his direction and pretended not to send Doctor Escobar.
Upon sighting Kelly from afar, Escobar rushed to meet Kelly.
"Kelly, please stop!"
Escobar called on Kelly, but the latter refused to halt. Rather, he kept walking faster just to avoid speaking to Doctor Escobar
What Kelly didn't understand was that Escobar was faster than I. Just when he thought that he had escaped, Doctor Escobar pulled him back from nowhere.
"What the heck is going on with you? Didn't you hear me calling on you to stop?" Escobar struggled to speak and panted heavily. He was already exhausted from running after Kelly.
"That's because I don't want to speak to you. Is it that difficult for you to understand? Just leave me the heck alone," Kelly cried.
"Come on, Kelly.
We are both adults.
We shouldn't be fighting like kids.
Can we please come to my office and discuss this? I am pretty, we got a lot to talk about," Escobar begged as he clamored for dialogue.
"We are adults and shouldn't be fighting. Wow!" Kelly mimicked Doctor Escobar and forced a smile.
"You know, back then, you accused me of being a hypocrite because I wanted what's for everyone. Guess who's the hypocrite now? You!" Kelly clapped back.
"Thank goodness George is getting discharged tomorrow. It would save me from seeing your ugly face. Goodbye, Escobar. You suck!" Kelly smirked and walked away. Doctor Escobar didn't attempt to call him back.
"What are you scared of? I don't bite. Come on, take the envelope from me and stop acting like a baby already. An officer like you shouldn't be fidgeting. Have you forgotten what I told you about being courageous? You never can tell, it might be your letter of promotion," Lucas said. Romeo saw that as a trick and refused to fall for it. Without hesitation, he went on his knees immediately and pleaded for Lucas forgiveness. "I am sorry for the things I did to you. None of them were intentional. I've learned my lessons now. Please, I don't want to end up like Tony. I deserve a second chance,"The dismissal of Tony still lives rent-free in Romeo's head like a movie. He wouldn't want his situation to be like that. "You don't want to end up like Tony, right? That's quite ambitious if you ask me," Lucas scoffed."I don't know what you are talking about. I can't recall what happened to Tony. Can you please remind me?" "You dismissed him because of Dexter Cooper, sir. Not just that, he als
"He needs to reach out to his Father. His Father is not even aware that he's been arrested," Romeo pleaded. He was ready to scrub both knees on the tiled floor just to prove how serious he was. "Now this is getting more serious than I expected. How much did Dexter pay you to do this for him? Because I mean, you can't go this for a total stranger you know nothing about," Rhoda confronted Romeo with the disturbing question."Excuse me?" Romeo fumed. "What do you take me for? Do you think I'm one of those hungry-looking cops out there who would sell their dignity for money?" "Perhaps, she might be right. No one knows the reason you are doing this," A masculine voice interrupted them from close range. The voice sounded like Lucas. Where Romeo was, he prayed silently and wished it wasn't Lucas. Lucas, so far, has proved to be Romeo's greatest fear ever. He wasn't even confident enough to look into Lucas' eyes and speak to him directly, let alone confront him. "Good evening, Boss. You ar
"I am listening to you Romeo. Since you got here, you haven't said anything worthy of my attention. I just hope I am not wasting my time with you? Because I was doing something significant before you showed up," Rhoda raised the concern. What Rhoda was concerned about was Romeo's lack of confidence. She didn't know him to be this shaky to the extent where he could barely speak fluently to save his life."Of course not. I assure you, you're not gonna regret having this conversation with me, and I am not even kidding," Romeo created the assurance. He paused afterward. Rhoda signaled him to speak further, but he missed the sign. Romeo made it seem like that both placed a bet on the last person to hold his breath for too long."What the fuck do you think you are doing? You've been quiet for some time now. I should have known that you were just wasting my time. What exactly do you want me to do for you? And I do hope it's something I can handle?" Rhoda asked for clarification. Romeo's a
Dexter struggled to keep up with Romeo's tempo. At the same time, he struggled to breathe properly. He hasn't seen anything like that before. The taunting from Romeo got into Dexter's head. But what was he going to do about it? Absolutely nothing! He was willing to endure the present struggle and hope for a better tomorrow. Dexter was quite aware of his numerous tortures in the hands of Jaguar and would rather not go back to that phase anymore. No one has ever inflicted so much pain on Dexter before since he was born. Not even his beloved Father or late mother.Jaguar treated Dexter as though Dexter were his biological son. It was an ugly experience for Dexter. He would give up an arm to forget about it. "Take a look at these bunch of keys. What do they mean to you? Do they ring a bell to you, or do you want me to spell it out so you would understand perfectly well what I am talking about?" Romeo asked, flashing the keys to the cell across Dexter's face. "They're the keys to y
"Welcome to your new cell, Dexter Cooper. I hope you do like it here. What the heck am I saying? Surely, are going to love it. I mean, it's surely better than your Father's palatial mansion, isn't it?" Romeo teased Dexter with a burst of wicked laughter after they arrived at a new cell. Looking at it alone, Dexter hated it. He chose not to say a word about it to avoid getting on Romeo's nerves. . It turns out that the former cell was more attractive and conducive than the new one Romeo brought Dexter to. The only difference there was Jaguar and his boys that made life a living hell for Dexter. Dexter spent lots of time scrutinizing in his new home. He was filled with regret and wished he hadn't wished for a transfer. But the thought of being beaten to death by Jaguar still scares him to death. "What are you going to say about this? You are taking too much time on something that isn't even worth that stress, and I don't like it. Are we going to spend the entire day talking about
"What do you expect me to do about this now? I still can't believe that are seriously seeking for my help. Everything is still a dream to me. Someone should please wake me up from the illusion before I go insane," Romeo said, slapping his chin to be certain he wasn't imagining things that aren't real. He still wasn't convinced about his decision yet. If Romeo was made to decide immediately without thinking about it, he would chose to walk away from the case just like every other cops. Not for once did Romeo liked Dexter. These two has got a lot of history together. Thinking about the nastiest things that Dexter had done in the past is making Romeo have a second guess. "Please, take me to a new cell. I might end up dead once you leave. These guys are threatened to torture me to death. Please come to my rescue. I don't wanna die," Dexter pleaded as hot tears rolled down his eyes. "You wanna be transferred to another cell? Now I see why you're being dealt with. What have you been
