Change Of Discomfort

"Welcome to your new cell, Dexter Cooper. I hope you do like it here. What the heck am I saying? Surely, are going to love it. I mean, it's surely better than your Father's palatial mansion, isn't it?" 

 Romeo teased Dexter with a burst of wicked laughter after they arrived at a new cell. 

Looking at it alone, Dexter hated it. He chose not to say a word about it to avoid getting on Romeo's nerves. 

. It turns out that the former cell was more attractive and conducive than the new one Romeo brought Dexter to. The only difference there was Jaguar and his boys that made life a living hell for Dexter. 

Dexter spent lots of time scrutinizing in his new home. He was filled with regret and wished he hadn't wished for a transfer. But the thought of being beaten to death by Jaguar still scares him to death. 

"What are you going to say about this? 

You are taking too much time on something that isn't even worth that stress, and I don't like it. Are we going to spend the entire day talking about this?" Romeo broke the silence, expressing his frustration.

"I don't need to wait for your response. You don't like it here. If you don't mind, let me take you back to your former home," Romeo volunteered. He saw the disappointment hoarding around Dexter's face and knew he wasn't pleased with his current predicament. 

"No, it's fine. 

I don't wish to return to the lion's den. Those guys are going to eat me alive," Dexter finally accepted his new cell. Although, some part of him wasn't pleased. 

Yet, he was ready to endure and prayed that his Father would reach out to him pretty soon. 

"Good! 

You need to understand where you are. This isn't your father's mansion. Just so you know, I am not going to pay attention to you should any complaint arise. I hope we are clear on this?" Romeo warned Dexter. 

Reluctantly, Dexter agreed by nodding his head. When he saw that Romeo was making plans to walk away, he finally decided to speak up.

"Wait a minute! 

Why are you doing this to me? Why did you decide to help me after everything I've done to you In the past?" Dexter asked.

There are plenty of questions in his head that he believes only Romeo can provide the answers to. 

It's hard for Dexter to imagine that people like Romeo do exist. If he was in Romeo's shoes, he wouldn't have done the same due to how dark his heart is. 

Romeo laughed. 

The question cracked him up. That was the only time Dexter had seen Romeo laugh since he got arrested. 

This gave Dexter a sign that Something good was going to happen soon. 

In return, Dexter laughed too. He intends to continue the joke. 

"I knew you were going to ask the question. I was just waiting for the right time," Romeo said.

 He showed some signs that Dexter could bank on him to aid his bail. 

"I owe you no explanation but since you asked, I am just going to tell you anyway. Dexter Cooper, I did this for your Father, and not you should; you start feeling important," Romeo revealed. 

It wasn't the response he was expecting from Romeo. 

"You did this for my Father? How does this have to do with him? For crying out loud, he wasn't the one that got arrested. I am," Dexter fumed. A few seconds later, he was already apologizing for being rude towards Romeo.

Knowing the kind of person Dexter was, Romeo didn't react badly. He knew all along that Dexter was pretending.

"You see what I am talking about? That right there is the reason I helped your father. Lucas told me that your Father is hospitalized because of you. Surely, he doesn't deserve to suffer another heart attack," Romeo explained extensively. He utilized the opportunity to pour out his heart, something he hadn't done before, considering their type of conversation. 

"If you care about my Father that much, help me get out of this place. I want to be granted bail," Dexter pleaded. He fell on both knees to make Romeo believe that he was remorseful. 

Romeo pushed him aside. "And you think that's easy to accomplish?"

"Why not? 

Aside from Lucas, you are one of the respected officers in this station. I saw how Jaguar was scared when you walked In. He could barely even speak to save his life," Dexter assumed. He spoke as though he'd had a closed-door meeting with all the cops who revealed the leaders In that station. 

Romeo faced the wall. He wouldn't mind helping Dexter. However, the only problem he had was Lucas. 

Lucas is one person that everyone doesn't wanna mess with, and Romeo is quite aware of that. Lucas wasn't even aware that Romeo had transferred Dexter to another Cell. If he ever finds out, it's going to be a tug of war. 

After contemplating for some minutes, Romeo faced Dexter as a thought crossed his mind. He figured it was cool to share with Dexter. 

"Has your Father reached out to you - yet? Is he even aware that you were arrested?" Romeo asked. It took him a couple of minutes to come up with the question. 

Dexter was astounded. He can't see the correlation of the question to his predicament. All he needed Romeo to do was to call his Father to grant his bail. 

"I am still waiting for your response, Dexter. I am not going to ask you this question anymore. Is your Father aware that you were arrested? Answer the damn question and stop counting the ceiling,' Romeo Cried. 

"And what does this have to do with my case? Does it matter if my Father is aware?" 

"Of course, it does," 

Romeo sharply cuts in. 

"We need to know if your Father cares about you or if he has abandoned you to suffer alone,' Romeo added. He wasn't scared to step on Dexter's toes because he knew Dexter wouldn't do anything about it.
