"Hi, Ciara.

I missed your calls. How are you doing over there? Have you had dinner already? What do you wanna talk to me about?" Kelly asked Ciara over the phone. He was already having divided attention and could barely concentrate on the telephone conversation.

He might be having a conversation with Ciara, but his soul was inside the ward. He was eager to find out what nurse Olivia wanted to discuss.

To Kelly, it was more important than speaking with Ciara over the phone.

"Dad, are you doing great over there? Who's there with you? Are you still in the hospital?" Ciara asked relentlessly over the phone after she observed how restless Kelly sounded.

That wasn't what the Father knew. He spoke as though he had a gun pointed toward his head, forcing him to speak.

"What do you mean if I was doing great? How can you ask me such a question? Of course, I am doing great. Don't I sound perfect to you? How else do you want me to speak to you?" Kelly lied.

He feigned a baritone voice to pretend as though everything was fine. Despite his effort to act smart, it still wasn't enough to convince Ciara otherwise.

"Dad, take it easy.

Don't be so hard on yourself for no reason. I can't be making stories that aren't real. I am too mature for that.

I know what I am talking about. You're my Father and I know you too well. I should know when you're telling the truth," Ciara insisted.

She spoke with confidence as though she could read Kelly's mind. She made him speechless for the few minutes they spent over the phone.

"Are you ready to speak now? We both know I'm telling the truth. You just don't want to admit it. Are you under some kind of threat right now? I could call for help if you like," Ciara asked with a jaw-dropping voice. She was already panicking that Kelly was under some attack.

Although he tried to make her believe he was telling the truth, the tone of his voice chose to betray him, making it difficult for Ciara to believe him.

"Ciara, I am doing great. How many times do I have to tell you? I am your father. I have no reason to lie to you. Is that clear? It might interest you to know that I don't wish to talk about this issue anymore." Kelly raised his voice at Ciara for the first time in a while. He was tired of pleading about his innocence and figured that yelling at her was the best way to earn her trust.

"I believe you are telling the truth. I apologize for doubting you. By the way, you shouldn't have yelled at me just to prove a point. You were hurting me," Ciara sighed. The yelling worked after all.

"When are you coming home? I can't deny the fact that I've missed you so much. You didn't even bother to reach out to me over the phone. Does it occur to you that you have a daughter that you should care about?" Ciara lamented. She deployed a different tactic and played the victim card to make Kelly feel guilty for absolutely doing nothing.

"Has it gotten to this level now where you play with my intelligence? Is this the reason you called me over the phone? Just to start a fight with me?" Kelly frowned.

"Isn't that enough reason? For crying out loud, you haven't returned home since morning. Have you had your shower or had anything to eat since morning?" Like a concerned wife, Ciara asked.

"Now that's enough!

I am not going to let her speak to me In such a manner. Does it occur to you that I am your father? You should address me with respect. If you don't have anything important to say, I will end this conversation, and trust me, you won't reach out to me again," Kelly warned Ciara and panted heavily as though he were under some panic attack.

"Guess who showed up at the house today while you were away?" Ciara brought up yet another topic for another lengthy conversation. She spoke so comfortably over the phone as though Kelly was seated next to her.

While she craved a father-and-daughter moment, Kelly wanted a different thing. He can't wait for them to end the conversation. He was already getting bored.

"You should know I suck at guessing. Can you just get on with it already?" Kelly cried. He had his eyes focused on George's ward if anyone was going to step outside. To him, missing out on the excitement was synonymous with losing a multibillion-dollar deal.

"It's Derek, Dad.

I was shocked to see him. I had no idea how he found his way to our home. I guess he must have asked some questions," Ciara revealed.

In the process of explaining, she got Kelly more confused than ever before. He lost a few brain cells trying to process what Ciara was talking about.

"Derek? Who the heck is that?" Kelly asked after failing to remember the person behind the name. The name doesn't even ring a bell in his head to give him a clue.

"Is this a prank?

Come on Dad.

Don't tell me you don't know who Derek is. Of course, you should know him. Of course, you two met last night," Ciara insisted. She wants her Father to guess right without having to hit the nail on the head herself.

"Ciara, I honestly don't like the game you are playing with me right now. If I knew who Derek was, I wouldn't be asking you. Can we get this done already? I don't have the whole day," Kelly's brows furrowed together as he raged. His eyes darkened. He was slowly getting on his worst behavior.

The only reason he hasn't ended the telephone conversation was because he hasn't spoken to Ciara in a while, and he feels guilty about it. Staying on the phone was his only way of fixing his mess.

"What are you scared of? I don't bite. Come on, take the envelope from me and stop acting like a baby already. An officer like you shouldn't be fidgeting. Have you forgotten what I told you about being courageous? You never can tell, it might be your letter of promotion," Lucas said. Romeo saw that as a trick and refused to fall for it. Without hesitation, he went on his knees immediately and pleaded for Lucas forgiveness. "I am sorry for the things I did to you. None of them were intentional. I've learned my lessons now. Please, I don't want to end up like Tony. I deserve a second chance,"The dismissal of Tony still lives rent-free in Romeo's head like a movie. He wouldn't want his situation to be like that. "You don't want to end up like Tony, right? That's quite ambitious if you ask me," Lucas scoffed."I don't know what you are talking about. I can't recall what happened to Tony. Can you please remind me?" "You dismissed him because of Dexter Cooper, sir. Not just that, he als

"He needs to reach out to his Father. His Father is not even aware that he's been arrested," Romeo pleaded. He was ready to scrub both knees on the tiled floor just to prove how serious he was. "Now this is getting more serious than I expected. How much did Dexter pay you to do this for him? Because I mean, you can't go this for a total stranger you know nothing about," Rhoda confronted Romeo with the disturbing question."Excuse me?" Romeo fumed. "What do you take me for? Do you think I'm one of those hungry-looking cops out there who would sell their dignity for money?" "Perhaps, she might be right. No one knows the reason you are doing this," A masculine voice interrupted them from close range. The voice sounded like Lucas. Where Romeo was, he prayed silently and wished it wasn't Lucas. Lucas, so far, has proved to be Romeo's greatest fear ever. He wasn't even confident enough to look into Lucas' eyes and speak to him directly, let alone confront him. "Good evening, Boss. You ar

"I am listening to you Romeo. Since you got here, you haven't said anything worthy of my attention. I just hope I am not wasting my time with you? Because I was doing something significant before you showed up," Rhoda raised the concern. What Rhoda was concerned about was Romeo's lack of confidence. She didn't know him to be this shaky to the extent where he could barely speak fluently to save his life."Of course not. I assure you, you're not gonna regret having this conversation with me, and I am not even kidding," Romeo created the assurance. He paused afterward. Rhoda signaled him to speak further, but he missed the sign. Romeo made it seem like that both placed a bet on the last person to hold his breath for too long."What the fuck do you think you are doing? You've been quiet for some time now. I should have known that you were just wasting my time. What exactly do you want me to do for you? And I do hope it's something I can handle?" Rhoda asked for clarification. Romeo's a

Dexter struggled to keep up with Romeo's tempo. At the same time, he struggled to breathe properly. He hasn't seen anything like that before. The taunting from Romeo got into Dexter's head. But what was he going to do about it? Absolutely nothing! He was willing to endure the present struggle and hope for a better tomorrow. Dexter was quite aware of his numerous tortures in the hands of Jaguar and would rather not go back to that phase anymore. No one has ever inflicted so much pain on Dexter before since he was born. Not even his beloved Father or late mother.Jaguar treated Dexter as though Dexter were his biological son. It was an ugly experience for Dexter. He would give up an arm to forget about it. "Take a look at these bunch of keys. What do they mean to you? Do they ring a bell to you, or do you want me to spell it out so you would understand perfectly well what I am talking about?" Romeo asked, flashing the keys to the cell across Dexter's face. "They're the keys to y

"Welcome to your new cell, Dexter Cooper. I hope you do like it here. What the heck am I saying? Surely, are going to love it. I mean, it's surely better than your Father's palatial mansion, isn't it?" Romeo teased Dexter with a burst of wicked laughter after they arrived at a new cell. Looking at it alone, Dexter hated it. He chose not to say a word about it to avoid getting on Romeo's nerves. . It turns out that the former cell was more attractive and conducive than the new one Romeo brought Dexter to. The only difference there was Jaguar and his boys that made life a living hell for Dexter. Dexter spent lots of time scrutinizing in his new home. He was filled with regret and wished he hadn't wished for a transfer. But the thought of being beaten to death by Jaguar still scares him to death. "What are you going to say about this? You are taking too much time on something that isn't even worth that stress, and I don't like it. Are we going to spend the entire day talking about

"What do you expect me to do about this now? I still can't believe that are seriously seeking for my help. Everything is still a dream to me. Someone should please wake me up from the illusion before I go insane," Romeo said, slapping his chin to be certain he wasn't imagining things that aren't real. He still wasn't convinced about his decision yet. If Romeo was made to decide immediately without thinking about it, he would chose to walk away from the case just like every other cops. Not for once did Romeo liked Dexter. These two has got a lot of history together. Thinking about the nastiest things that Dexter had done in the past is making Romeo have a second guess. "Please, take me to a new cell. I might end up dead once you leave. These guys are threatened to torture me to death. Please come to my rescue. I don't wanna die," Dexter pleaded as hot tears rolled down his eyes. "You wanna be transferred to another cell? Now I see why you're being dealt with. What have you been
