DENVER'S POV

I can't get Neriah's words off my mind.

What if I really let go of this entire battle like she suggested and throw in the rest of my effort into making my company stand on her feet?

But that'd mean that for the first time in my life I'm quitting. And Denver Chadwick never quits.

Liam keeps insisting that my father left no will, but I have a strong feeling that he did. I have an even stronger feeling that he's trying desperately to keep me away from my share of our inheritance. But why?

Liam has always had whatever he wanted no matter how expensive. Even now he's the one with the good life and top ranking business. Why won't he let me have what's mine?

My palms crunch into a fist, rage seeping through my blood stream. This is exactly why I can't just let it go. Because Liam has a habit of bullying me subtly, especially since he knows he can't face me physically.

I need to find that goddamn lawyer again and maybe beat the shit out of him. Maybe then I can get the answer

  • Married To My Ex-husband's Half-brother    CHAPTER 204

LAURA'S POV The croaking of frogs are the only sounds that keep me company. The driver's seat is reclined so that I'm half-lying down, stretching my legs on the dashboard of my car, my phone torchlight pointing at the words written in Liam's ledger. I don't know how long I've been sitting here but since it's dark now, it must be about four hours. As I flip the last page, my lower lip catches in between my teeth. What a man I'm married to. I can't tell if the tightening of my chest is from the rage building up in me or if it's from the feeling of regret for being extremely stupid all the while. No wonder he claimed to be so naive, so he could steal so much from right under my nose without me being suspicious. And come to think of it, my sister is the most stupid of us all. How could she sign her inheritance off to her husband? My phone buzzes for the umpteenth time, this time when I check, it's the nanny. "What is

  • Married To My Ex-husband's Half-brother    CHAPTER 203

DENVER'S POV My alarm beeps twice. 8 am.Almost immediately I hear two raps at my door. That can only be Ethan with my morning coffee. He pushes the door open, peeking in to see if it's okay for him to come in. When I nod my head, he walks in with a folder tucked under his arm. He drops it on my desk along with my steaming cup of coffee. "Good morning boss," he says, “We’ve got something.”I look up from my laptop. “Go on.”He opens the folder and points to a set of printed images. “The church register confirms the date of the funeral while the trust document Liam submitted carries a different date. The signature was logged three hours after the service ended.”A wide smile of satisfaction moves through my face. “That’s good work.”“There’s more,” Ethan adds. “The clerk who helped verify the register says someone else came asking about those same records a few days ago.”My brows draw together. “Someone else?”

  • Married To My Ex-husband's Half-brother    CHAPTER 202

LAURA'S POV For the first time in my life, I admit I was wrong. I always thought Liam was a weak, naive man who couldn't do anything except someone stronger was there to tug on his leash, I didn't know he was distracting me all along while stealing my inheritance. How wicked could he be?It must've been included in the ledger...no wonder he never wanted me to lay hands on it. Now he'll never have it back no matter what. Even if he kills me. His rich chocolate musk scent infiltrates the room before he walks in. Grabbing my handbag, I slide my sunglasses onto my nose. To think that I stood by the man who robbed me. I slept with him, ate with him, while he stealthily took what belongs to my son and I. "Laura..." He grabs my arm as I make for the door. It's been four days since I overheard his conversation and not once within those days have I said a word to him. Not even a word. "Please hear me out, it's not what you think. Ner

  • Married To My Ex-husband's Half-brother    CHAPTER 201

NERIAH'S POV Since my wedding the garden has become my favorite part of the mansion. It’s quiet here with the smell of wet grass and blooming roses wraps around me like a soft blanket, and I let my fingers brush against the petals as I stroll between the trimmed hedges. Morning sunlight dances through the leaves, scattering flecks of gold across the path. This is where I feel free away from the cold marble walls,  bodyguards, and Denver’s endless concern.I close my eyes and inhale the scent of jasmine drifting from the vines near the fountain. I’m about to sit when soft palms suddenly cover my eyes from behind.I laugh, startled. “Denver?” I whisper instinctively but realize instantly that it's not him. These hands are too thin and soft to be his. “Lucy, is that you?” I tease, reaching up to touch the fingers lightly. The person giggles, it's a familiar, melodic sound but I still can't place it. The hands fall away,

  • Married To My Ex-husband's Half-brother    CHAPTER 200

DENVER'S POV Every time she gets into one of the cars for her antenatal appointment, I remember that I'm going to be a father. At first I wanted to accompany her myself but she said her friend Lucy works at the hospital so she doesn't mind taking the opportunity to hang out with her. That doesn't do anything to ease the tightness in my chest, not from anger or jealousy, but from anxiety. Nothing must happen to her. And this is the reason I can never forgive Liam. My fists curl with the thought. How could he have taken advantage of such a beautiful and resourceful woman to the extent of trying to murder her?And to think that he'd been siphoning the inheritance her father left for her. How shameless could be be? He's hoarded the properties our father left behind and now, this? I swear by my late mother that I'd get back every dime for Neriah and I. No matter the cost. I already ordered Ethan to make the investigation look lik

  • Married To My Ex-husband's Half-brother    Chapter 199

LAURA'S POV The pain in my arm seems to have softened its grip on me. Flexing my fingers experimentally, I can see that the splint around my arm is less restrictive now, and the angry bruises along my ribs no longer burn with every inhale. The doctor said I was healing faster than expected, maybe that's the advantage of being home again to my silk sheets, steady meals, and lovely family. Turning my neck this way and that, I attempt to straighten the cramp in my shoulders, reaching my fingers out to check on Liam in the dark. He's not there. Tugging on the bedside lamp, I turn to see that my hands were not playing tricks on me. He's really not here. It's only a few minutes past four am. “Liam?” I called softly, my voice scratchy from sleep. There's no response which means that he's not in the bathroom. Where could he be at this hour?I sit up, clutching my robe tighter around me, sliding off the bed carefully so my arm wouldn
