FAZER LOGINKNOX'S POV It was obvious something was really wrong. I'd noticed that, and clearly Sable also had. I watched Ysoria leave the room after threatening me. She always did, but this seemed a bit different. It felt like she held a bigger grudge against me. Not because I took Sable out for medical treatment, not anything from the surface level. It had to be something more. I hated the fact Dax couldn't break down everything amongst us, thereby living the majority in the dark while Ysoria knew just what he was going on about. Maybe it had something to do with me. Or maybe Sable. But as I watched her leave right after she mentioned the cleansing ritual, I felt a bit uncomfortable. It was just a minor procedure meant to keep Sable and the baby safe, meant to hoard off bad energies. But why in God's name was I feeling like there was something more. Ysoria clearly didn't give a fuck about Sable, nor the baby. They weren't a property of her son. I assume she should be least interest
SABLE'S POV “He got his throat slit open like a powerless sheep.” She added, staring right into my eyes. It felt like she wanted a particular expression and that I wasn't giving. I simply looked away on hearing that. “Why will he do that?” I mumbled out, my gaze fixed on the window. “I mean, he had no reason to.” I added. “You brought your Uncle to our Den and watched him sell off packs confidential information, I sure could tell you should have expected this.” Ysoria mummured, tapping her finger impatiently against my bed. “He came for me, and you held him down. Maybe we should be asking why you did that.” I tilted a brow as I spoke. Ysoria suddenly moved backwards with a frown on her face. “And what are you driving at?” I shrugged my shoulders as I listened to her speak. “Well, he mentioned earlier that you both got……” “Shut the fuck up Sable!” Ysoria cut me off mid sentence. “I didn't come here to listen to you blab about what you think I did or did not do!” She snapped
KNOX'S POV I asked Doctor Isaiah to meet outside for a private discussion. He'd mentioned Sable's vitals not being stable and was going to prescribe drugs to help, but he never mentioned her emotional back and forth. I didn't want to mention that in front of Sable, I didn't want her to feel like there was something wrong with her. Doctor Isaiah followed until we were out of her chamber before speaking. “If you are worried about what you asked about earlier – I can assure you, it is a normal symptom.” He said before I could even state my reason for asking to speak with him. I paused for a long second, looking right into his face, just to be sure he wasn't hiding anything. “It's all caused by her blood pressure constantly rising and falling.” He added. I brushed my hair as I listened to him speak. “Ohhh, alright then.” I added. “She would be fine, yeah?” I asked with a tilted brow. He nodded almost immediately, slightly parting his lips to speak. He paused and then took a fe
SABLE'S POV The room remained dead silent that even the drop of a pin could be heard loud and clear. I laid on the bed, my eyes fixed on the ceiling while doctor Isaiah did an examination on me. The same examination I wanted for it to be postponed. Suddenly, all I wanted was to be somewhere other than the pack – The bar. But Knox thought otherwise. I knew the baby was okay, I could feel her moving, but he wouldn't believe me. That pissed me off so much and all I could do was lay silently while waiting until Isaiah confirmed my verdict.“The baby is doing fine.” I heard his voice, I didn't realize Isaiah’s hands were no longer on me until he spoke. He had his attention fixed on Knox as he spoke. “I told you, I knew she was fine!” I folded my hands into my chest as I spoke, my face curled up in a frown. Knox sighed out loudly. Clearly, he was relieved the baby was fine and for a long while I'd forgotten that part, that he was simply worried, not just trying so hard to deprive m
KNOX'S POV I couldn't understand the flip in Sable's reaction. Just minutes ago, she'd panicked that the baby might not be okay, but that didn't last. I drove in fear, my heart pounding as I hoped she was wrong. She remained silent and I'd assumed she was also in a state of panic, not until she muttered words about the name I'd used earlier. She found it funny and I found her reaction funny as well. It seemed as though she'd forgotten what exactly was going on, like a sudden switch.I thought it was her trying to calm her nerves, I tried to help without making the situation awkward. I listened as she cracked jokes, laughed and gave responses when necessary. She even made me pull over at some point. I lost it once she demanded we go into the bar, the same bar we'd first met. The place that made me remember how I'd treated her whenever I walked into it. Apart from that, I couldn't understand why she would suddenly want to go into a bar when we were in such a hurry to get to ou
ALPHA BRYN'S POV There was a long silence in the room for what felt like eternity. Mum wouldn't say a word but simply stared right at Corvin's corpse like it meant more to her than her living son sitting just a few seats away from her. I'd given her the answer I thought was best for her at that moment and I guess it's impact was enough to keep her shut for a long time. I simply made it clear that whatever she thought was our problem, was simply hers. I wasn't gonna get myself involved all of a sudden, not after she kept me in the dark all my life. She didn't say a word after that and simply stared down at Corvin's lifeless body like it could somehow produce the answers she needed. Maybe in the short time he spent with us, he had answers to her questions, maybe he would have suggested she hire some other hitman to go after Dax or the grand elder, or whoever had her curled up in his finger this way. But he wasn't. She probably needed me to say those words as well, needed me to
CHAPTER 4: ComplicationsSable's POVThe air vanished from my lungs the moment I met his eyes.. It wasn't just his size though he was enormous. It wasn't even the inhuman, gold-flecked glow in his eyes, though that was seriously freaky. It was the sheer crushing weight of his presence that hit me
~SableBefore I could even process the noise.. the room was full of them... large grim-faced men in suits that did nothing to hide their thick necks and rude attitudes.I gasped, scrambling upright and clutching the soft white sheet to my chest. It was the only thing between me and total nudity.“W
