Chapter 15: Be Safe, Husband
POV: Sarah
After sending my response to Adrian, I set my phone aside in defeat. The day had been unusually long at the restaurant.
While clearing a customer’s table, a familiar voice echoed from behind me.
“Sarah.”
Claire called out, standing just a few inches away from me. She waved her arms with a wide grin on her face.
I turned around and rolled my eye
I.V Chapter 20: Welcome Home, Wifey POV: Sarah The bright morning rays of sunlight streamed through the curtains and kissed my face, pulling me from sleep. I groaned and rolled over, only to tumble straight off the edge of the bed and land on the floor with a heavy thud. “Ouch!” I winced, rubbing my sore hip. I sat up slowly, rubbing my eyes with the palm of my hand while letting out a long, tired yawn. My eyes widened in horror as they casually swept over to the mini alarm clock on my bedside table. I didn’t want to believe what I was seeing. “Great. Just great. Now I’m late for work again,” I muttered, glancing at the time on my phone. I rushed to get ready, already dreading my boss’s usual lecture on punctuality. Just then, my phone buzzed with a notification.
I.V Chapter 19: Mixed FeelingsPOV: SarahI watched as Adrian stood up, preparing to leave. The moment our eyes met, I shot him a fierce glare, still pissed about what he had done to me in the corridor.I finally breathed a sigh of relief as the thick tension in the room lifted with his departure. Watching the staff slowly become more lively and cheerful made my heart ache. They must have been terrified in his presence.“He is not bad, you know!” Claire’s sudden voice startled me, making me flinch.“Christ! You’re still here? You scared me!” I winced. “Yes, of course I never left. Or were you expecting me to leave after I learned we are now the owners of this restaurant?” Claire winked mischievously. “I hid so that tough guy wouldn’t see me and suddenly change his mind, you know?”“Well, that would be better!” I retorted, my voice sharper than I had intended.“Why are you so red? What’s with th
I.V Chapter 18: Shadows of the Past POV: Adrian Disappointment hit me the second she called me “Mr. Adrian” again. What the hell had changed between that sweet “Be safe, Husband” text this morning and now? The thought gnawed at me as I ran my fingers along the stair rail, dusting off the grime without breaking eye contact. She was still fuming, her chest rising and falling rapidly. Good. I liked her like this — fiery and off balance. I stepped forward slowly, forcing her to retreat until her back pressed against the wall. Nowhere left to run. A smirk tugged at my lips. I leaned in close, breathing in her familiar sweet scent that had been messing with my head since the moment I walked into the restaurant. Her body betrayed her instantly that slight tremble, the way her breath hitched. A rush of satisfaction surged through my chest. I let t
I.V Chapter 17: Cornered POV: Sarah I stood there completely stunned, unable to move. Did he just call me “wifey” in front of all these people the moment our eyes met?! “Sarah,” someone whispered my name while gently tapping my arm, pulling me back to reality. “Yes?” My gaze remained fixed on Adrian as I tried to read his expression. He rose gracefully from his seat and closed the distance between us. Draping his arm around my shoulder, I looked up at him, silently praying he wouldn’t do what I feared. Clearing his throat, Adrian studied me for a moment, a smug smile playing on his lips. “Everyone, even though I didn’t plan for you to meet her this way, here we are.” He spared me a quick glance before continuing with a smile. “Meet Sarah Thompson, my wife.” The room shifted from calm nervousness to pure shock. Murmurs erupted instantly. “Mr. Adrian is really married? He’s had a wife all along!” I lowered my head, completely at a loss for words. A soft kiss land
I.VChapter 16; Hello Wifey POV: AdrianI couldn’t concentrate throughout my meeting with the French investors’ representatives. All that was on my mind was the last message I received from my wife. “Be safe, Husband” was the only phrase that kept echoing in my head.I quickly ended the meeting and finalized the deal. Back in the private jet, my eyes remained glued to my phone, not wanting to look away from it so the notification wouldn’t disappear before I could look back.Stanley’s notification popped up, distracting my attention.Stanley: I executed the assignment already, boss. I’ll send the attachment file below.A satisfied wide grin spread across my face while reading Stanley’s message. Just a minute after his notification came in again.Stanley: The welcome dinner for the new hires is said to be held at Logan Restaurant, Mrs. Sarah’s new restaurant.Seeing the name of the person I want most in the world now on the screen, I quickly sent him a text back.Me: I’ll be there in t

Don’t tell me you’re not happy to see me, because I’m very happy to see you!” She teased, nudging me with her shoulder. With my arms crossed over my chest, I gestured with my head toward the sturdy men moving boxes out of the restaurant.“What’s happening? Is your boss closing down? But… I thought the place was doi
