Bruna

Here I was, five years after what happened to my family. My hands clenched into tight fists as I looked up at the tall building a few meters away from me. Anger rumbled in my chest as I moved forward. Revenge was what I sought after.

Caden Woodman needed to have his own fair share of what I went through after what he did to my family.

I walked into the reception and headed straight to a blond lady sitting behind an Apple desktop. Her hair was held up in a high bunny tail. She seemed to be doing something on her phone as her head was down.

Sensing someone was in front of her, she lifted her head, and the first thing I noticed was her long and thick lashes.

"Good evening, Miss..." She dragged out the 'Miss' and looked at me, probably expecting my name.

"Bruna King." I offered with a slight smile. "I'm here to see Caden Woodman. I said before she could start the normal routine check.

Her hand, which was on the mouse, stopped working as her eyes found my face with a lot of doubt and judgment in it.

"Caden Woodman you say?" She raised a brow.

Of course, Caden Woodman wasn't a delivery guy that anyone could see at any time. He was the first son of the Royal Dynasty family in the country and would be the next president of the country. That thought alone made my

insides tighten.

Heaven forbid I let that happen. And yes, not everyone could see Caden Woodman, but I was smart enough to have played my cards well in the past five years because I knew a day like this would come.

Although I was ready for this, I couldn't stop my hands from sweating and my heart from beating faster than it should.

I couldn't shake off the feeling that kept reminding me that something could go wrong. Yet I had rather let something go wrong than sit back and do nothing at all.

So I braced myself and stepped out of the elevator. I strode forward and checked his room number among the doors that lined either side of the hallway.

Like I had seen a ghost, I almost jumped out of my skin when room 405 came into view.

My stilettos heels wobbled on the floor as I matched towards the door.

Did strippers need to knock on their client's doors before entering? Well, I guess not. I used the keycard I got from the club to open the door.

The white lights from the room almost blinded me. The cold air, which was definitely from an air conditioner, hit my body, and goosebumps immediately rose on my exposed hands. The room was serene like the forest during the early hours of the morning.

I took slow and cautious steps in, my eyes scanning every corner of the biggest room I have seen in my entire life of existing.

Hmmm, a presidential suite.

There was a walk-in closet and a toilet to the left. At the center of the room, was a king-size bed decorated in black and gray linens. A tall floor-to-ceiling window behind the bed gave a clear view of the night sky, with stars twinkling in it.

My gaze traveled down the two doors to the left when I heard the sound of running water. He was probably in there taking a shower.

The hairs at the back of my neck stood erect at that realization.

I was about to meet the man in my nightmares after five years of watching him on TV and on my phone screen.

Those light green eyes always stared back at me through the screen as though they knew I was watching their owner. The jet black hair he always pushed behind his ears while he made speeches at his campaign gatherings, promising to be the best president if the citizens voted for him.

Not only was he known to come from a famous political dynasty family, but he was also known to be the owner of one of the biggest oil and gas companies across the globe.

Aside from that, I heard he had a reputation for changing women like the expensive suits and shoes he wore to his campaigns.

I made my way to the small glass table next to the bed. It had two wine glasses and a bottle of red wine standing on it.

I picked up the wine bottle and wrapped my hand around the smooth skin.

“Before anything, we need to sign a Nondisclosure agreement.”

A deep baritone voice echoed behind me. I jerked my head in that direction.

My eyes met the man I had been stalking for years. The same man I never knew I would one day meet because we were worlds apart.

I stared dreamily at the tall muscled figure man in front of me, not able to believe my eyes.

He paused from drying his hair with a white hand towel. His light green eyes found my face. When they did, he tilted his head to the side like he was trying to figure me out.

“Did you hear what I said?” He demanded with a stern voice as he continued to dry his hair.

“Uhmm, yeah...yes.” I quickly nodded.

“You low-life strippers have a habit of reaping where you did not sow. I don't want you using whatever shall happen here to your advantage.”And right there came his condescending and demeaning just like I have heard.

My teeth scraped against each other in agitation. I ended up like this because of him.

Still, I kept my cool because I would be the one with that tone when all this was over.

"I understand you.” I feigned a smile. I gently placed the bottle back on the table and stepped to the side.

“Do you know what you're supposed to do?” He whirled away from entering the closet, his eyes on my face.

“How long have you been working at Vortex?” He added.

My eyes widened at the last question.

He couldn't be suspecting me right? I couldn't fuck this up.

“Ahem...” I cleared my throat with uneasiness.

“I know what I'm supposed to do. And I have been working at Vortex for over a year and a half.” The lies rolled off my tongue smoothly.

I didn't know shit because I didn't ask the manager at Vortex what I was supposed to do.

Yesterday was my first day at Vortex. I learned two years ago that Caden frequented Vortex. I knew it would be my only chance to meet him, but I had no idea how. Not until I started digging up some information about Vortex using my technology skills. The club was into some dirty shit which the manager was involved in.

I conered the manager yesterday night and presented him with my options; to let me meet Caden or ruin his reputation. Since most wealthy people care about their reputation just like Caden here, he had to let me meet him.

His next words surprised me. "Great. Fill in the glasses then." He moved to the closet and closed.

‘Woof’ I breathed in relief. That was close.

I walked to the table and filled in the glasses, hoping that he will have his drink before anything could happen.

“After this night, I don't know you and you don’t know me. Do not come up with any stupid excuses to try to lure me into something.” He declared picking the glass from the table. He walked and sat on the bed.

He gulped it down and a smile almost formed on my face, but I quickly wiped it off.

“Of course, I wouldn't.” I took a seat across from him. He was campaigning to become the next president.

I understood his fears.

"So, tell me more about you." He slurred, his eyes becoming blurring which was tiring to sit here and watch.

I was told the drug had an immediate effect, but I had been watching him struggle for more than five minutes.

"Have your wine and we will talk about me later...."

I jumped off my seat when his body finally landed on the bed and the glass in his hand fell to the floor and shattered. Red wine spilled decorating the cream-white carpet underneath his feet.

I took in a deep breath and moved towards him. A smirk on my face. The wait was quite frustrating but worth it.

I arranged his body on the bed and climbed next to him.

***

A week later, I dialed the number I took from the hotel room.

It rang but no one picked up.

I dialed it again, anger and frustration already blaring up.

I dialed it again the third time, ready to punched the wall if no one picked up.

My eyes lit up as he finally answered the phone.

“Don't you understand when someone doesn't want to answer the phone?” that deep baritone voice reverberated through the phone, the anger in his voice quite evident.

“And who the hell are you?” He demanded.

“I'm Bruna, the lowlife stripper you ordered from Vortex last Friday night.”

It became quiet on the other side for a few seconds before he spoke.

“Didn't I ask you not to contact me? How did you get my number?”

“Shouldn't you be asking why I'm calling?” I smirked at the heavy breathing coming from his end.

It looked like he was too proud to ask. So, I took the initiative to do so.

“I just discovered I'm a week pregnant and it's yours.” I placed my hand on my stomach and gently rubbed it.

“Whatever this is, you better stop it right now. Or else, I will find you and lock you up.”

If voices could kill, I would be dead by now.

“Oh wait! Before you do that, remember I have nothing to lose. I have pictures of us at the hotel. So, we should talk this out amicably.”

I ignored the silence on the other side and continued.

“And remember, I am the last daughter of late Assemblyman, Austin King. And Luna and Lucas King are my siblings.”

Fuck. I hear him cussed.

“Let’s meet. I will text you where.” He declared.

A victorious smile danced on my lips.

The game just began.

BrunaI was lucky to have made it home earlier that day. It was just the guards and the maids at home when I arrived. I learned Marygold had gone to spend some time with her friends. Talk about hanging around rich people. When I stopped at the bus stop, I had to phone Lucas and ask him to drive me home so that it would look like I was with them.I took in a deep breath as my back landed on the king-size bed, dressed in white sheets with different pillows on it. For a first timer in this room, you had think he was a girl with all these pillows on his bed.Well, people could have whatever they want regardless of gender.I couldn't resist the temptation as I climbed onto the bed and brought the duvet over my head. I loved sleeping with my head covered.Caden wasn't here yet. I should have gotten up and fixed his bed before he came back from Lunaria. Hopefully, he didn't recognize me after that look he gave me.No one could until I was done with what I wanted to do.The only people w

  • Married To The Enemy    Just another person

CadenI would love to say my eyes were deceiving me. That couldn't be her. She didn't know this side of town, and she couldn't have been here out of a sudden. That girl looked exactly like her. She looked at me with a shocked expression on her face. I didn't dwell much on that as I entered my car and drove off.A lot of people who weren't related often looked like each other. She could be just one of those cases. I drove back to the company wishing that the affected family found peace and comfort. I hadn't been able to meet them after the incident. I had asked around if anyone knew who this family was and how I could meet them, but no one knew about them. And this let me do the only thing I could. Keep the land safe for the said family. The land committee wanted to put it out for auction after the family had disappeared for years. When I got wind of the news, I had to do what I could. Buy the land and keep it for them if they ever want to come back for it. I learned the family

  • Married To The Enemy    Did he recognized me?

Bruna.I shouldn't have been doing what I was about to do now as it was quite dangerous. Everything could be ruined if anyone recognized me as his wife although I was under disguise. But then, I came prepared. All I wanted was to visit his company based here in Lunaria and gather all the information I could.I stepped out to the main road and tried to flag down a taxi. A couple of taxis passed by without stopping, until the fifth one."Forestgrove." I leaned in and whispered to the taxi driver. His eyes stayed on me for a while. It was like he was debating taking me there, or he was having a talk with himself about what someone like me wanted to do there."I heard that area is under restriction. No citizen is allowed to go there.""I could be a worker. Are you taking me there or not?"It wasn't like I was asking him to take me there for free. I would pay him. All he had to do was his job and not ask me questions. "Get in."I pushed the door open and got inside. I fished out cas

  • Married To The Enemy    A visit

BrunaHe was always the type to talk back at home. But he was always mute in front of the population. This wasn't my first time seeing him like this. This was a part of him that I was trying to uncover. Why was he always like that? He seemed to have gone through something or maybe something happened to him. Was it just something natural? It was like he had social anxiety. It was clear, given how he struggled to make a speech each time he was out. And then, he wanted to run for president. He is always so nervous and sweaty. I had followed him this morning to a conference outside the city.He was up there to address the crowd and was barely able to say a thing. He stopped between words and looked at the crowd. His mother had been whispering words of encouragement to him, telling him he could do it.Looking at him from where I was next to his mother, I knew something was underneath him and I was ready to uncover that, no matter what. It could be something I could use against him.“

Bruna Taking food to his office was not on my to do least nor was it something I planned to do in the long run. However,it was the only option I had to get to his company. I needed to know exactly what he was doing. The kind of thing he was involved in. I couldn't miss any chance that could provide me with some useful information. He didn't talk to me; not a single thank you. I had to leave the food and come back home.Though he didn't say a word to me, I knew for a fact that the moment he comes back home, he will be right by my door, giving me warnings to never visit him at his office ever again, or maybe I could only show up if it involves the baby. I was not here for the baby, I was here for him and I will make sure that I get my hands on anything I could, anything that can implicate him and bring him down to his knees. I want to see him suffer. I want to watch him burn. I want to watch everything he has worked so hard for, burn into ashes. He ruined my life and what I was

Caden.I shouldn't have messed up like that. I left the house with everything in mind to say. Still, I could let go of it when I stood behind that podium. That was something I have been trying to let go, but I couldn't. It kept reoccurring. I stared blankly at the laptop in front of me as my mother's words echoed in my mind.I wasn't about to let what had been in my family for the longest time now be taken away and by a man I didn't know. No one has dared stood up against my family requesting a change because they know it bonged to my family. They knew it couldn't happened and then there was Kendrick Taureb who had suddenly showed up. What had he done for the people to accept to his request?I watched his campaign pictures. He was doing enough to get the votes from the public, going to all the remote places to get all the attention. Majority of the country peoples were in this areas. Most of them will readily agree to him if kept providing them with what he was giving them.I
