Chapter 16

The alarm clock rings at exactly 5am, signaling to me that it’s time to get up for work. It’s Monday, can’t say I hate it but can’t say I love it either. I reach out to to find my alarm with my eyes still closed, I finally feel the round object and switch it off.

I’m about to doze off again when I remember that it’s my first day at work as Nek's secretary/ wife; but people wouldn’t know that, just the two of us. This clears the sleep from my eyes not because I’m excited but because I’m nervous; you can never tell what’s Nek's up to.

I get out of bed, wear my robe and head for the kitchen; I can’t survive the day without grabbing breakfast. Nek isn't downstairs, I’m guessing he’s not a breakfast person on weekdays; makes sense. I make enough scrambled eggs, bacon and orange juice for two, then set the table and have my breakfast. When Nek gets downstairs he can decide if he wants to eat the food or not; at least I made an effort.
