One more interview to go and I’d be done here; and headed back to the office. Surprisingly Nek hasn’t called me or texted me; usually when I leave the office, I’m always bothered by calls for Nek asking me where the documents are.“Hello, my name is Sabrina” the last model says, pulling me out of my thoughts. I offer a smile at her and beckon to her to take a seat, “may we begin”; she nods and then I start with the questions.“If Nek wanted to have an affair with you what would you do” I question while looking seriously at her.She bites her lips nervously; but still answers the question with confidence, “I would turn him down, that’s not part of our agreement”. I nod and I'm about to ask the same series of questions I asked the former girls but I decide not to ; and ask a different question just in case they’ve shared questions with one another.“Let’s say you’re are in an enclosed area with one of the rich guests at the event; and he’s offering you a lot of money to be his mistress.
At exactly 5:30pm, my phone rings; it’s an unknown number. I have no aversion to answering unknown numbers so I pick the call; while I simultaneously send out an email.“Hello”“Hi; this is Nicole your stylist. I’m waiting for you downstairs, so that we can begin”. I didn’t actually expect her to be exactly on time; I guess that’s why Nek pays good money.“Alright, I would be down in a minute”. Not wanting to keep her waiting; I finalize the email, grab my things and head downstairs.I see a red headed lady waving at me, I approach her; that might be Nicole. “Hi, im Nicole” she says, clearing my doubts about her identity.“Hello, nice to meet you” Nicole is very pretty; she has a slender figure and she’s quite tall and very stylish, offering credibility to her work as a stylist.“We’ll start with your hair”, she pulls me towards the vehicle and we head towards the salon. I can tell she’s excited cause she keeps tapping her foot; I keep wondering if this is her first time working with
The room is filled with so many distinguished guests; I’m in awe as I peek behind the curtains, waiting for Nek and I to be announced to the guests. My parents rarely bring me to such events; they believed that I was not of age to be brought often to this kind of events. To be honest I can’t say I complain, coming to this kind of event requires a lot of energy, one which I didn't want to spare at those moments; I'd rather be curled up on my bed reading or writing, my two favorite things to do.The fear of my parents being here keeps passing as a fleeting thought; as I keep trying to shake it off. Inwardly I know they wouldn’t be here, not because they aren’t of such class; but because this time of the year my parents travel to my maternal home. But the fear they could show up at any time grips me, afterall anything can happen.Nek seems to notice how tense I’ve gotten; he places his hands on my shoulder, “don’t worry; I’ve got you, okay”; I smile at him grateful for the encouragement
“Heyy Nicole” I softly say as I tap her lightly on the shoulder; that makes her jump a little, she turns around to see who had just interrupted her alone time with her sumptous dinner. At the sight of me her face lightens up and she looks relieved to see a familiar face, “hi” she responds with a glowing smile.“You didn’t tell me you were going to here, how did you have time to get ready, since you were busy styling me?” I question her wearing a playful smile.Nicole drops the plate of food in her hands on the table, she gestures for me to take a seat. I would have never noticed those seats if she never pointed them out, “you’re feet must be killing you, right!” she says reading my mind; “I actually arrived a little late to the party”, that answers the question to how she’s able to look so stunning this evening.“Have I told you look stunning this evening” I enthuse with a smile; “Thank you and you look absolutely wonderful yourself; if I compliment you any further, I’d be complimenti
Friends” I respond as I shake her hands; I smile at her showing my white pearly teeth’s. I’m so happy that Nek's mistake is almost forgotten; actually no. I can’t easily forget what Nek did today; I was totally caught off guard.I shift my attention back on Nicole, and I notice her eyes her on the crowd; carefully searching. After a brief moment of deliberation on whether to pry; I finally ask “is there someone you’re looking for? you keep searching the crowd”Nicole faces me and whispers into my ears, “I’m watching my parents to see the guy who I’m supposed to be set up with” she says as she faces the crowd once more. That makes sense; that should have been my first guess I think to myself.
She’s smiles back at me; humbly accepting the compliment, “so how far due are you?" she says with a forced smile; cutting to the chase.“Excuse me”; I’m stunned at this woman's audacity, how dare she imply that Nek only married me because I was pregnant. My previous image of her suddenly dissolves; she looked so nice and friendly when she introduced herself. It's really true what they say- never judge a book by it’s cover.I smile back at her, but make it obvious I’m not pleased by the way this conversation is going; she doesn’t take a hint cause the next thing she says makes me want to order her to be thrown out of the room, not that I can though.“You must have skimmed your way through, to have gotten married to him; what little tricks did you use” she carefully whispers, not wanting to be caught as she haughtily eyes me up and down.I have the urge to get Nek’s attention to this matter; but I remember that I am still fuming at what he did, I glance at Nicole but she’s too busy tryi
I actually was right about my premonition of him being a rich man, I smile at the thought of me being correct. I’m very curious to know what he was doing on the bus the other day; after a brief moment of deliberation on whether to go, I finally head towards him hoping he would recognize me. “Mysterious lady” he says at the sight of me, his lips breaks into a smile and I let out a sigh of relief; I’ve been saved from an embarrassing moment. I would have entered the ground if he had ignored me.I study his face, he looks much more handsome than when I last saw him, “Mysterious lady?” I jokingly ask. “How did you come about this name”, knowing fully well how this name started; I like it, makes me feel playful.“Are you going to finally give me your name; or do I have to keep calling you mysterious lady. You know it would cause stares from everyone who hears” he jokingly says. I’m tempted to let him carry on, but I’ve decided to tell him my name; only on one condition.“I’ll tell you my
A lot of times has gone by; as time flies I realize that I genuinely enjoy spending time with Der. Nek would soon start searching for me or if he’s too busy; he’ll send one of his bodyguards to seek me out.“Let’s head back in” I smile at Der, “I think I’ve gotten enough fresh air, my husband would soon start looking for me”. Der looks up at me at the sound of the word husband; he doesn’t look sad at the thought of me having a husband, he just looks suprised.“Wowww, you look so young; no one would think you were married” he jokingly says; confirming to me that he didn’t like me. “Let’s head back in”, Der offers me his arm to support me as we walk back in; this heels were not made to be walked in.The doorman opens the door for us, Der slightly bows his head signifying his gratefulness to the doorman: so humble he is, if it were others, they’d have carried their haughty little noses in the air and walked past. A silly idea comes to mind, it’s also an intelligent one and it might just
