There is no one to trust

“What?”

Carlo’s voice exploded through the room, shaking the air like a grenade blast. “How the hell did he escape when that place is crawling with armed guards?”

Dominic stood stiff at the edge of the room, shoulders hunched, eyes glued to the polished floor as if it might offer him shelter. He didn’t look up. He didn’t dare. “Seems like… he had some help,” he said softly. His voice barely carried, like it was scared of being heard.

Carlo’s arm shot out, his fist crashing into the chair beside him with explosive violence. The wooden frame gave way instantly, breaking into jagged shards as it slammed into the wall. Pieces rained to the ground like fallen teeth. His chest rose and fell in ragged, furious waves as he grabbed both hands through his hair and yanked. His face usually calm, cold, and calculated was now a map of fury.

“This means we’ve got another fucking snitch in this group!” he snarled. “Another goddamn traitor hiding under our roof. Because how

You Don't Belong Here“Are you deaf?... What the hell are you doing here?” Kristen asked, standing in the doorway with her arms crossed tightly, anger burning in her eyes.Bernice stood near the entrance like she owned the place. She didn’t flinch. “I just came to check up on you,” she said, giving a small, fake smile. “You left angrily because of me, remember? Thought it would be nice to show some concern.”Kristen narrowed her eyes. She knew Bernice wasn’t here to be kind. Her voice, her expression, that smile—it all dripped with sarcasm. Kristen forced a polite smile in return. “That’s sweet of you,” she replied, matching her tone.“You know Carlo… He always shows up for the people he loves… I mean, cares for,” Bernice added with a smirk.Kristen’s eyes sharpened. She could see exactly what Bernice was doing, but she refused to give her the satisfaction. “Yes, my husband has a thing for helping strays,” she said coolly.Bernice’s jaw tightened, and for a second her smile faltered.

The Rift The door closed with a soft click behind them. The house felt heavy with silence. Kristen was still shaken by all that had just happened tonight. She could still feel the tension on her skin like sharp little pins pressing everywhere. Everything felt tight and cold. Bernice had been patched up. Her leg was wrapped in thick bandages, and she winced every time she moved. Kristen stood by the stairs, her arms crossed tightly over her chest, eyes fixed on Bernice. Bernice slowly lowered herself onto the couch, as if she belonged there. Carlo was standing just behind Kristen. “She’ll stay here,” he said, his voice calm but firm. “At least until she’s better.” Kristen didn’t answer. Not right away. Her jaw was tight, and her eyes slowly moved from Bernice to Carlo. She turned to fully face him. “Excuse me?” Her voice was cold. “I thought we agreed for her to leave the house?” Carlo let out a breath like he already knew this conversation would go badly. “She’s wounded,

She took the bullet for himKristen walked down the hallway with slow, uneasy steps. Her heart was beating fast, and her hands were slightly trembling. Carlo had stormed out of the house earlier to find Marcus, and now it had been hours with no word from him. No call. No text. Nothing. And that silence was making her more anxious by the minute. She was heading to the Bar to get a drink, something, anything, to help calm her nerves. Wine or Maybe whiskey. She didn’t even know what she wanted. All she knew was that her chest was tight, and her mind wouldn’t stop racing. She had just turned the corner when something strong and cold pressed against her face.A cloth.Pressed hard against her nose and mouth. At first, she didn’t understand. Her hands flew up, trying to grab the person’s arms. She struggled. Kicked. Tried to scream. But the scent from the cloth hit her like a wave. It was strong. A sharp, sweet, almost sickening perfume that made her head spin instantly. The arms holding he

Now Say Your Last PrayersThey got to an old building, the air smelled of dust and damp wood. It was the kind of place where bad things happened. Carlo and his men stepped out of the car slowly. No one said a word. They all had their guns out, ready for anything. Their steps were quiet but sharp as they moved inside. They didn’t know what to expect. But they were ready. Ready to fight. Ready to kill. Ready to die if they had to.The floors creaked under their feet. The light was dim. Shadows danced along the hallway walls. They moved in a tight group, checking every corner. Every step was filled with tension. They opened doors, looked behind crates, and kept their fingers close to their triggers. Then they reached one room. The door was old and half open. They moved carefully. Carlo pushed it open with the tip of his gun. And there—there she was.Kristen.Tied to a chair in the middle of the room. Her mouth was gagged. Her hands and legs were tied tightly. Her eyes were wide with fea

TIMES TICKINGThey arrived at the location, a quiet and empty warehouse on the edge of the city. The place looked old and broken down like no one had been there in years. Weeds grew through the cracks in the concrete, and the metal doors hung loosely on their hinges. Carlo stepped out of the car first, his eyes scanning everything. His face was hard, focused, and tense. He had come here with only one thing in mind to end Marcus for good. The others got out of the car behind him. Dominic, Rico, and two more of Carlo’s men moved quickly but quietly, guns drawn, eyes sharp. They searched every corner of the building. Room by room. Floor by floor. Every box was checked, and every shadow cleared. But Marcus was nowhere to be found.Carlo stood in the middle of the main room, his breathing heavy, his hands clenched at his sides. He felt something in his gut, a burning feeling that told him this wasn’t right. Then, suddenly, a sound broke through the silence. A small beep.It came from Carl

The enemy inside Later that night, Carlo stood alone in the surveillance room, surrounded by walls filled with monitors and flickering screens. Every angle of the compound was visible—every entrance, hallway, blind spot, and roof corner. The room was cold from the hum of the machines, but a thin layer of sweat clung to his neck.He watched in silence, his eyes bloodshot and wide open, refusing to blink for too long. He had zoomed in on the northeast perimeter three times in the last hour. No movement. No shadows. There was no sign of Marcus. But still… his gut twisted. It wasn’t enough. No matter how many cameras he installed, no matter how much steel or tech surrounded them, it wasn’t enough. He still felt it, that creeping sensation under his skin like a blade grazing too close. He felt exposed. Vulnerable. Like Marcus could crawl through the shadows, slip past every safeguard, and slit their throats before the cameras even blinked. The silence in the room didn’t help. It screamed
