Chapter twenty-two

It was disheartening to hear little Tom's story. He was a smart five-year-old who had never experienced fatherly love; His dad renounced him from the uterus leaving the lady to single-handedly take care of their responsibility. 

Zaphrina never thought she would someday say certain things but, it was preferable to have a partner die than quit his responsibilities. Knowing that he or she was there—alive— and not maning up hurt much more than knowing he or she wasn't. 

She had just exited the maids quarters and headed to the mansion. Reaching her unit, she was greeted by the petite Anna, who was almost done mopping the kitchen floor.

"I hope you feel better."

Zaphrina hesitated with confusion for a split second before being struck by realization.

"Yeah, I'm pretty much better."

She virtually forgot she had informed Neville about her not-so-good health, although truthfully, she was more of emotionally ill than she was physically,
