Chapter 1

My sound sleep was interrupted by the sound of my phone ringing. "Can't a girl get some sleep around here?" I mumbled, ignoring the call and letting it ring to an end, but it began ringing again. I sighed, frustrated, and reached for the phone which lay on my nightstand.

I opened my sleepy eyes to find out the caller and I noticed it was Shana, my best friend. "Why is she calling me this early? Or is she trying to tell me to get ready for school?" I thought out loudly.

I swiped the green button picking up the call.

"Lucinda!!!" She screamed immediately when I picked up the call, causing me to flinch.

"Why are you screaming my name?" I asked.

"Girl! OMG!! Don't tell me you don't know what is going on. Are you even serious?" She cheered happily. I sighed frustratedly trying to decipher what she was saying.

"Shana, speak English, I replied", getting tired of her charade.

"Omg girl! You're missing out!! Dylan's back!!! Our greatest Rockstar is back. Hurry turn on the TV they're showing his arrival at the airport". She said excitedly and I scoffed.

"Shana, was this the actual reason you woke me up from sleep this early?" I asked.

"Oh well! The entire city is watching it.

Oh My God! I can't wait to attend his concert tonight, the entire New York City will be there", she squeaked happily. I buried my fingers into my hair and sighed.

"You're insane Shana," I said and ended the call.

"Good lord! This girl woke me up this early just to inform me of Dylan's return", I said unbelievingly.

I picked up the TV remote and turned on the TV In my room and indeed there was a live broadcast showing Dylan's return.

"Woah!" I exclaimed.

He had his Manager Chaddick Boston, and his bodyguards with him trying to make way for him to pass as the paparazzi were on their necks trying to take as many photos as they could of Dylan.

Dylan was the most famous, renowned, young, handsome, and richest musician in the country and across the continent.

He was admired and adored by the whole country.

I heard no one gets in physical contact with him except for his family members and manager. He was also the heir to the Talen's Empire. Although he had step-siblings. Yes, he was from a polygamous family. Although rumors have it that his mum, Flora Talen slept with her best friend's husband, Chris Talen. Who married her after he found out she was pregnant for him.

As young as he was, he was a filthy rich billionaire, he had expensive jewelry, rode expensive cars, wore expensive clothes, and owned the most expensive House in New York. I also heard he's rude, heartless, rarely forgives, and above all was a big-time playboy. Although that doesn't do a thing to his fame, he's still loved and adored.

Might be wondering how I know a lot about him right?

Well, like I said he's very popular and is referred to as the greatest Rockstar around here.

Frustrated already, since my precious morning sleep had already been stolen from me I decided to get ready for school. l stood up and lazily dragged myself to the bathroom to take my shower.

I got downstairs to the sitting room and found our maid -Merry- cleaning the sitting room.

"You're awake madam Lucinda, Good morning", she greeted in obeisance as I walked into the sitting room.

"Good morning merry", I replied as I walked to the dining and took my seat, taking in the sight of the meal that was already arranged on the neatly dressed table.

"Where are Mum and Dad?" I asked Merry, noticing my parents' absence.

"They'd be here shortly, came her simple reply".

Mum and Dad were always the first to reach the dining before me every day, I thought but shrugged it off anyway.

Well, I guess I should do a little introduction myself.

I am Lucinda Andros. I am 23 years old. I am the only child of my parents. I attend the best university in the country where I am studying business management. I am currently in my final year. My dad Mr Winston Andros is the owner of The Andros

Software corporation and my mom Mrs Jamila Andros is the owner of Jammy's Cosmetics and Sleek, one of the biggest fashion industries in New York. Although my parents are filthy rich, they made sure I got everything I needed and did their best to ensure I had the best of life, but never had time for me, they were always busy.

They returned home very late at night when I was already asleep, I only got to see them in the morning during breakfast. I was mostly left with Merry's company and thanks to Shana, my best friend who tries to keep me company.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, I just got my first boyfriend, Todd Wilson. He's so charming and we love each other so much.

I was already halfway through my meal when I heard Mum and Dad's footsteps approaching the dining area.

"Good morning mum, Good morning Dad", I greeted cheerily but was greeted by Dad's stern look. Immediately I noticed the tense atmosphere, it seemed like they both had a big fight, so I decided to keep quiet and continued with my meal.

They both took their seats and we ate in silence with only the sounds of our cutleries invading the tranquility.

I stood up to leave for school since I was already done with my meal.

"Sit Lucinda", my dad said in a commanding tone that sent shivers down my spine.

"I have something to tell you he continued", while I gave my mom an unknowing look which she returned with a pained and guilt-filled look.

"You'll be getting married, you'll be getting married to Dylan Talen", he finished.

I sat frozen in my seat not knowing whether to laugh because it sounded like a joke to me.

I wanted to speak but I felt like my tongues were tied, I stared at my dad in bewilderment and then at my Mum.

"Wha…at?" I finally summoned the courage to speak with my voice creaking, Hoping my dad would laugh and say it was an expensive joke, but the expression on his face and the helpless look on my mum's face said it all.

"You heard me Lucinda, get ready you'll be getting married to Dylan on Saturday", he said blankly while walking out of the dining room.

"What's the problem bestie? You seemed off in class throughout today". Shana asked while we walked down to the parking lot.

"I am getting married, Shana". I said, sighing.

"Married, to whom, Why?" She asked, confused.

"I will be getting married to Dylan Talen", I replied.

Shana paused and gave me a funny look, she burst out into a fit of laughter.

"Lucinda, when did you become such a comedian? That was one expensive joke", she said, still laughing.

"Shana stop it, I'm serious!" I yelled back at her.

"Wait, are you serious, bestie? But how?" She replied, looking more serious.

"I don't know, my Dad just broke the news to me this morning, I am confused, I don't know what to do with Todd, how do I tell him I am getting married?"

"Don't you think it's a good thing, Lucinda, I mean you're getting married to the most popular musician in the country, he's rich and all the girls want him", she said dreamily and I felt like puking on her face.

"And besides, it's a Good riddance to bad nonsense. I've always heard a bad feeling about that Todd guy", she added.

I scoffed at her and continued walking to the parking lot.

"Bestie wait up, I'm sorry, okay? I didn't mean to upset you". She hugged me and patted my back.
