City Hospital

Evelyn's pov

I sat nervously as I waited for my results. They had taken my blood sample long ago, but the doctor had yet to show up. It felt like it was the longest time I have ever waited.

A young male doctor soon entered with a paper in his hand, and he handed me the paper with a smile.

Wh.... What is the result? I asked as soon as I found my voice.

The doctor looked at me strangely as if I looked weird.

I looked at the patient who asked me what the results were when it's right in her hands but then I noticed she was fidgety, there were beads of sweat on her head in the well ventilated room which made him guess the pregnancy was a mistake, he had quite an experience in young women who got pregnant, they were the type to sweat profusely in and air conditioned rooms.

Miss Reed, you are four weeks pregnant. He said in a calm voice.

I looked up at him, then at the result I held in my sweaty palms. Can...... I get an abortion?. I finally stuttered. I just wanted to get rid of this child, I can't even take care of myself, and having a child in this situation will seem like the biggest mistake. I can't depend on Vivian forever; I need to figure out something for myself.

If you want an abortion, you can come back tomorrow morning for an appointment, and if you change your mind, I suggest you register for prenatal care. The young doctor was not fazed by my request.

I nodded trying to keep my emotions in check. Thanks, doctor..... I muttered.

I walked out of the hospital and hailed a taxi quickly, afraid someone would recognise me,' the fallen heiress '.

By the time I got home, Vivian was already home in loose pants and shirts, sipping juice as she scrolled through social media.

She smiled as soon as she saw me pulling me to sit on the sofa beside her.

Evelyn.....guess what.

What? I asked pretending to be clueless.

I got the job! I'm resuming next week. She said sounding so excited.

Really, congratulations, Vivian I said as I hugged her, feeling genuinely happy for my best friend.

But I'm kind of worried. Vivian said softly.

Why? I asked.

I don't know if I'm good enough for that position...... What if I don't meet up to their expectations? She said.

What are you talking about? They are lucky you are going to work for them; I'm sure they saw your potential and hired you. I said as I playfully punched her arm.

Muah.... You're such a darling. Vivian said as she blew me kisses. Then she suddenly asked. By the way, where did you go today? Vivian asked, taking a sip of her juice.

Then, it hit me, my pregnancy. I looked at my stomach, which was still flat, and wondered if I should tell Vivian, and then I decided to tell her

I was living in her house, and I couldn't hide the fact that I was pregnant from her.

Vivian.... I went to the hospital for a test and I'm pregnant. I said softly.

Vivian went silent for a while, looking shocked.

You're pregnant? " she gasped, covering her mouth with her hand.

Then she suddenly took my hand in hers and exclaimed ... I'm going to be a godmother. She looked so excited.

Evelyn was surprised at how happy she looked and couldn't help but smile herself letting go of the weight in her heart.

But what about your parents? Evelyn asked, worried they might not be happy with their daughter accommodating a pregnant friend in their house.

You worry too much. My mom knows you're here, and she is so cool about it, and my dad won't be bothered at all, she said, giving me a reassuring smile.

My gosh, I still can't believe I am going to be a godmother in months. I have to start making a list of cute names it's not too early.... right?. Vivian said with all seriousness and Evelyn could only watch her as she continued to ramble.

A few months into my pregnancy, I had gotten used to my condition. I had indeed gone to the hospital the next day, but it wasn't for an abortion; it was to register for prenatal care, and Vivian had accompanied me to the hospital.

News about me' the fallen heiress ' had died down but whenever I went online I still saw some of my old classmates who didn't really like me making snide comments or even openly mocking my condition in group chats although some of them pitied me even offering to help me find a job but I'd always politely decline, designing had been my only passion.

Vivian has been very supportive, she even started reading books about pregnant women, their cravings, mood swings, and healthy habits. Vivian's mother, Mrs Thompson, had also been very kind whenever she was around, making me nutritious soup and giving me some tips.

I also kept myself busy, during the day, pouring my heart into creating design drafts to pass the time, and would go on evening strolls with Vivian once in a while, and we would gist and laugh all through the walk.

City Hospital

Vivian had accompanied me to the hospital for a CT scan she was so curious to know the baby's gender.

If it's a girl, I'll call her nickname will be Peach, and if it's a boy, I'll call him Sean, and that's what I, as the godmother, will call the baby. She said with a sweet smile.

I looked at her and almost laughed. She was naming my child after her favourite cartoon character.

Okay then, god mom Vivian, I said with a light chuckle, rubbing my bloated stomach as she beamed with pride.

The doctor soon entered with a wide smile plastered on his face.

Triplets!! Vivian's shocked voice rang out as she stared at the result of the CT scan.

Evelyn also looked shocked as she stared at her stomach, her eyes filled with emotions, her heart warmed up with the thought that she had three lives in her.

No wonder your stomach looked so big when it's only the fifth month, and I'm going to be a godmother of three now, so I have to look for more names. She said her eyes were sparkling with anticipation.

The doctor sensed their happy mood, and honestly, even he was surprised when he saw the results; triplets weren't exactly common. He gave them a list of prescriptions which included supplements and vitamins that she needed for the baby's health development.
