Chapter 29 - Deep Conversation

Charlotte's POV

She woke up in her room, not in Elijah's room. She sat up, but a hand gently supported her back.

"Take it slow." She looked and saw Elisse by her side. "Do you want to eat? I can tell the maid to cook something for you."

She shook her head. "Just water."

"Wait, I'll get it from outside."

Elisse left the room, leaving her alone. She closed her eyes, but then quickly opened them again. She placed her hand on her tummy, still unable to believe that a baby was growing inside.

"Here's your water."

Elisse handed her a glass of water and sat back beside her.

"You can stay in this room for now. If you go to Elijah's room, you might just end up arguing again. It's better to calm down tonight so you can get along better tomorrow."

She looked at Elisse. "I'm not ready."
