LARA's POV
"Poor Leo," Alyssa moan as she scrolls through her phone. "Everyone is saying such mean things about him." I still have not told Alyssa about my little run-in with her celebrity crush. "What are they saying?" I ask, feeling a little guilty. "They're saying he has severe anger issues. The articles?? it's atrocious!" She puffs out a baffled huff. "But... I don't get why he would punch Roman Sinclair in the face for no reason! They are best friends!" Best friends? What I saw last night looks more like sworn enemies that want the other to die. A frown mars my forehead. "Are you sure they're best friends? Leonardo seems.. nice. But Roman is an asshole." Alyssa shakes her head. "No, they're are both sweethearts. But now everyone is calling Leo a fire-breathing dragon." Great. Now I feel guilty. "Leonardo had a good reason for punching Roman. Roman was being a Grade A Jerk. He called me a waitjob loser and mocked Leonardo." Alyssa gasps, hands flying to cover her ajar mouth. "You met Leonardo AND Roman? You're one lucky girl." "Did you miss the part where Roman called me a waitjob loser?" "So that's why Leo Knight hit him..." she trails off before grasping my wrist excitedly. "Hey! You should post a video on I*******m explaining everything that happened and how Leo defended you from Roman!" "Nobody's gonna believe me. They'll just say I'm making stuff up for clout." A terse pause. "Still," she says. "We have to do something since we know the truth!" I stand up and grab my car keys. "Leonardo Knight is an influential actor. I'm sure he can handle himself." "But I feel so bad for him. He must be so sad right now." I shrug. No matter how hard I try, I can never feel bad for rich people. "Let him wipe his tears with his dollar bills." I tie the lace of my sneakers. "Lara, where are you going?" Alyssa asks. "To work," I reply quietly. "Unfortunately, my bills have refused to pay themselves." I hop into my car and start driving. A new Uber ride request pops up, and I tap Accept. Another stranger, another destination. As I almost reach the pickup place, I see a hooded man in sunglasses and a nose mask jogging towards me. Two men are running after him with their phones and screaming, "Wait! Wait!" "Is that a thief?" I ask myself, looking through the car windscreen. The hooded man stops at my car. "Open up!" he muffles out through the mask. Open up for a thief and get thrown in jail? I think not! I keep driving, slower as my eyes search for the stranger I'm to drive to Sunset Boulevard. Where's he? Is he late? Masked guy in a hood keeps following me. "Aren't you my Uber?" he asks, his voice smothered. Ah, shit. I am. Why are my passengers always the weirdest people? He taps my window. "Open up!" I unlock the car, just as the two men chasing him catch up. Now, I notice that they're not accusing him of stealing, but taking pictures and videos. He hops into the front seat. "Drive!" he says, knocking the dashboard. "Seatbelt, please," I request. He wears it across his chest as turn on the ignition and move. After we lose the two picture-taking men, the passenger turns to me. "You look really familiar." "Yeah, I have one those casual faces," I reply politely, eyes squarely on the road, not wanting to start a conversation. "No, you don't. You have a very unique face." "Um... thank you?" "And you're the kind waiter I met yesterday." I turn to look at him. His strong physique and broad shoulders seem familiar, but I still can't see his face. "Would you mind taking off the glasses and mask? If you're not a fugitive or anything.." I hear a laugh. "I'm not." He removes the glasses, then the mask, and I gasp. "How do I keep running into you?!" I exclaim, half-horrified, half-teasing. "You tell me," he replies, flashing that million dollar smile. "Unless you're following me?" I raise an eyebrow. "I don't even know your name," he points out. Fair. "It's Lara. Lara Bello." He grins. "Nice to meet you, Lara. I'm Leonardo Knight." I roll my eyes. "Don't worry. Everyone knows who you are." "They do? Silly me. I didn't realize that." Sarcasm. My smile brightens. I appreciate a celebrity with a good sense of humor. "So where exactly in Sunset Boulevard am I driving you to?" I ask. His ride request doesn't have a specific location and I need one. "A bar. It's called the Burning Cigar." I straighten up fast. "What?! The Burning Cigar?" He frowns. "Is there a problem? Is the bar no good? Ah, fuck. I really needed to drink away my sadness." He close his eyes, groaning. "No, no! This is perfect. I gasped because that's where I work as a bartender. And my shift starts in 10 minutes. So I can just start when I drop you." He stares at me as if I've just grown three heads like King Ghidorah from Godzilla. "Wh-what? You don't like that plan?" I ask hesitantly. "You have one, two, three jobs?" he questions, counting them on his fingers. "Sure do. I'm one of the many immigrants who came to America with just a dream and no money. Now I have three jobs to survive. Bartender, Uber Driver, Waiter. Any questions?" "How do you do it? Do you get tired?" His rare grey eyes twinkle with gentle curiosity. I simply shrug, trying not to get lost in his beautiful eyes or voice. Shut up, and let me drive, please. We pull up at the bar and get out of the car. "You're late again, Lara! Third strike! Don't make me fire you!" My boss, Silas, scolds right as I walk in. Fire me. You pay me pennies anyway, I think, but say nothing. "I'm sorry, boss. My Uber passenger arrived late," I say, side-eying Leonardo. He walks in and the boss shrieks. "You! Rage Cage Leo! Hollywood Hothead. What the fuck are you doing in my bar?"Leonardo's POVI walk down the flight of stairs of the private jet and take off my sunglasses. The hot Cali sun hits my eyes instantly and I squint."Welcome back, kid!" Mickie exclaims, standing at the bottom of the stairs."Feels good to be back, Manager," I grin.Arms open wide, she embraces me. "I can't believe I'm saying this, but... I missed you, Leonardo."I fake a gasp, pulling away in the most dramatic way. "You missed me? Damn, I should probably record you saying this, and make it my ringtone.""Ha-ha-ha," she says, before giving her signature eye-roll. "Cherish that moment, because it's the last time I'll say something that cheesy. To anyone."I smile. "Missed you too, Mickie. But I'm sure you had other trouble-making clients to deal with while I was gone. Didn't you?""Of course I do," she replies. "But you're not just another troublesome client to me. You're like a son."I put my arm around Mickie's shoulder endearingly and playfully. "Mom, this is the second cheesy thing
LARA's POV"You almost died?!" I gasp, pulling back to see his face. His eyes are stormy and tired, like they’ve seen too much. "Roman and his werewolves have gone completely rogue. They're killing every other pack including mine. Out there... I kept thinking—if I never saw you again… if I never got the chance to hold you like this… I wouldn’t be able to rest."I press my forehead against his, our breaths tangled. "Now, you can rest, David. You survived.""Barely," he whispers, his hands gently touching the back of my neck. "But of what use is an Alpha King who has no kingdom?"I'm confused."No kingdom? Isn't this place.." I gesture with my hands. "... your kingdom?""Not for long. Not with Roman Sinclair still trying to take my throne— what I painstakingly built for four hundred years."There is a glimmering darkness in his eyes. His lips may say no more words than five... but his eyes darken in a way that say a million words too many."I need you..." he murmurs, holding onto my fac
LARA's POVUnder the forest grounds, David has a gigantic fortress for his pack. It's almost like a palace, except it's somehow undergrounds. A secret kingdom carved out of the earth where he is the king. And I'm the queen? After introducing me to Finn and Timothy as his wife, David left to handle some pack business. Leaving me alone in the biggest room in this fucked-up palace. This has to be the master bedroom. I mean... look at this white, king-sized bed. It looks like the kind of bed you'd plop on, intending to take a nap and end up waking up thirteen hours later. And look at this floor-to-ceiling mirror. I feel like the Princess of England just by standing in front of it.The place doesn't feel real. My gut is screaming at me. Something feels wrong. The door creaks open, and I snap my head to that direction. A woman wearing a vintage pinafore stands there, tray in hand. All her teeth, white as paper, flash in the brightest smile ever. "Helloo, Miss Lara!" she screeches, automa
Leonardo's POVThe sex is never bad. One good thing about fucking an ex you know you should stay away from? That moment-of-weakness sex is cock-swelling amazing. As Lena takes off her last piece of clothing —her bra— the head of my cock hardens unbearably.I stop myself from imagining her face as Lara. Because... fuck Lara.Lara begins to play with... Shit, wrong face. Lena's fingers circle her pointed nipples delicately as she bites her lips, loaded with suggestion. "What the fuck are waiting for? Get in here," I tell her."I'm waiting for you to beg, Leenie," she moans."Then you'll be waiting a long time, doll. The only person getting on their knees to please is you."She chuckles, then runs to me on the bed. "Then, punish me. Punish me for betraying you.""Can't wait, you dirty little slut." I give her ass a loud spank, exciting her further. She mounts me quickly and uses her hand to slip me into her. She slowly rotates her hips, deep inside me. Fuck, this is mind-bursting. She
LARA's POVWarmth and chills runs through my entire body at the same time. I feel dangerous tingles in parts of me that should not tingle. His strong arms are tightly wrapped around my bust and I don't want them to ever leave."You're vibrating, Lara," he whispers. How can a girl not vibrate? Wrapped in your arms and in the breeze of the storm."I'm drenched," I muster the strength to say, my teeth grating on one another.Way to state the obvious, girl."Let's get you in the car," he replies, guiding me gently 'til we get to his Benz. He turns on the heat in the car, and warm air begins to fill the space, easing the cold that’s sunk deep into my bones."Is that better?" he asks slowly.I unclench my jaw and let out a shaky sigh. "At least you saved me from the rain."A humble smile touches his lips. "My pleasure, love."He pulls back onto the road, driving slow enough for my thoughts to wander."Aren't we going to address the elephant in the car?" I ask, my voice still thick from the
LARA's POVOne threat. One threat is all it takes to have a room of professors rambling and sweating.Long story short, I'm not getting expelled after all. Yay... I guess. This victory is bittersweet... because it proves how needless it was to make that selfish deal with Alaric Knight.Instead of agreeing to leave Leonardo forever, I should have just asked Professor David for help from the start."How are you feeling now, Lara?" he asks. We're back in the parking lot. Standing by his car."I'm feeling like a student again. Thank you, Professor."With an hardened jaw, he replies, "Don't thank me yet... I didn't help you for free."I frown, my heart thudding in warning. "What does that mean?""It means you owe me a favour now, Lara.""What kind of favour?"His cold, minty breath hits my skin as he whispers, "You'll find out soon enough, don't worry."How can I not worry? I hate the way his words wrap around me like a net. One favour, and now I'm his personal debt slave. "I hate surpris
