Chapter 2

Pomelia Grace was embarrassed. As she lay in one of the many rooms of the holy place, she felt the need to cover her face. Embarrassment and shame were two things that she had never really felt before. Yet just a mere ten minutes ago those two feelings and a host of other ones bombarded her body, battering her poor mind and nose until she fainted from it.

One moment she was serving the many alphas and prestigious pack warriors, then another moment an odd pulling sensation began to tug at her chest. It traveled to her fingers, her toes, it made her nose tingle and her head! Her head felt as if it was being split into two.

The unexplainable feelings of sickness rushed at her and made her spill her tray of drinks on the floor before she collapsed. She was sure she spilled the expensive drinks on someone important...

"Thank you. I will give this to her!"

At the sound of a familiar voice, she sat up slowly and clutched her head. Glancing down at her white gown, she let loose a mortified gasp. The drinks she was carrying in her hands were orange and a nice splotch of that awful color was now on her dress. She only had a few dresses since she was only a mere novice... She would have to get better immediately so that she could wash out such a stain...

"Pom, you're up!"

Glancing at the door, she saw a short, plump girl with a tray in her hands. The girl was trying extra hard to balance all that was on the tray, and Pomelia's mood instantly improved. It was Sera! Her closest friend in the temple. Her red hair peeked out from her veil as she set down the small tray of food and then smiled. A smile that made Pom's heart soar.

"Thanks Sera," she said as her friend handed her a piece of buttered toast. Pom wasn't really hungry but she knew one way or another Sera was going to make her eat food. She rather just eat it then argue with her friend.

"You're welcome. Are you okay? What happened? I was so nervous when I realized you fainted!" Her friend worried while glancing at her unsightly orange stain. Sera visibly shuddered.

Pom shrugged her shoulders, biting into the toast. "I'm not sure," she chewed. "I just...my head felt terrible and I felt just awful. My chest was hurting really bad too."

Sera gasped before pressing her hand to Pom's forehead. "You're only a quarter wolf right?" It was a sad fact that she was unable to shift. Supposedly her mother was a very...very weak omega and her father a human. Pom was considered an omega, a runt even. That specific word brought her pain, so she stuck to 'unable to shift.' She was an abandoned baby and almost wound up in the human orphanage system if it had not been for a holy Lycan sniffing over her little body and deciding that she could, in fact, live among them.

"Yes..."

Her friend frowned before letting loose a sigh. "Well...maybe you're just sick or not feeling very well." That had to be it. Maybe the festivities of the day just got to her. She was up almost all night...her mind was racing every time she tried to sleep and she couldn't figure out why. Perhaps she was just so nervous because usually she never went near the alpha males or served food before. She was always behind the scenes.

She didn't know what she expected when she was serving but she knew she wasn't expecting a room full of testosterone and pure power. The men and some women that filled the main hall of the temple were certainly worthy of their 'Alpha' titles. First Pomelia felt more than a little intimidated but once she put her mind to it, she got the hang of things.

"I hope I get better soon...you should go and serve the Alphas. Priestess Arana will become upset," Pom claimed as she shooed her friend away from her. "But thank you for the food and water. I appreciate it much," she smiled at her friend before embracing her.

Sera squeezed her tight, till the point where Pom almost lost her breath! Sera was a 100% Lycan unlike Pom, so sometimes her friend didn't know her own strength. "I suppose I should. I really don't want to though. They are all so scary," Sera complained as they walked towards the door.

Pom chewed on her bottom lip, knowing it was not a good thing to talk ill about Alphas. Most of them were handpicked by their goddess to lead the vast amount of lycans around the globe. "Well I am sure most are kind," she consoled her friend as she opened the door.

A person. A person was blocking their way out of her room. Not just any person. Someone who took up most of the doorway in height and even in width...

Pom craned her neck upward, to see just who this man was.

Icy blue clashed with honey brown. Sera let loose a shriek as she pulled Pomelia back and slammed the door shut.

"Who was that?! He smells like blood!" Sera cried out as Pom felt the odd feeling in her body return. Her hands became clammy and her heart beat increased. She felt confused, overwhelmed.

"M...maybe he was hurt and confused. What if he needs help?" Pom questioned her friend as she moved to go back towards the door. Sera dove at Pom, pulling her farther away from the door as they heard a soft knock.

Pom was scared also but her friend was shaking like a leaf as the knocking became more insistent. "No! We'll be hurt if we open the door!"

Glancing at her poor friend she realized that Sera was in fact terrified. She had never seen her friend look that way and it began to worry Pom on why she wasn't having the same reaction... "Sera if he wanted to hurt us he would open the door...and come in. Please calm down, we're safe," she reassured her friend as she rubbed her arm gently.

Pomelia apparently spoke much too soon because not even after a few seconds of her reassuring her friend, the door began to open. Sera shrieked again, as the man peeked his head in.

"Get out!" Sera shrieked at the male as he slowly entered the room. While Sera was busy throwing things at the intruder, Pom was frozen. In fear? No, not quiet.

The man roaming their room had a predatory look in his icy gaze as he entered. Then he paused, his glacier like gaze freezing her in place.

Why couldn't she move? Sera resorted to running down the hall screaming for help...leaving Pomelia Grace with the unknown male.

"Hi," she squeaked out nervously, watching his icy blue eyes finally land on her. His eyes suddenly widened before he looked away...his face slightly flushing. Pom frowned, tilting her head to the side. She had never seen a man like him...blush.

The man was large. Most likely larger than 6 foot and with broadened shoulders and a muscular build. Nothing about this man was small. He stood like a tree in her small room...

His hair was sort of a light brunette/dark brown kind of color. Nonetheless beautiful...and wild. The dark blonde hair fell from his head in waves, reaching above shoulders. He also had a short beard covering his chin and mouth area. Not to mention his electric, intense blue eyes, staring into her soul. The man reminded her of an untamed animal...a rogue spirit.

Pomelia watched with terrified caution as the man ran his hands through his hair and began to pace. Her eyes were drawn to the his biceps which bulged as he continued to rake his large fingers through his hair in an almost panic.
