CALEB'S POV

The waiting room was far too bright, too clean, and too silent. Every tick of the clock on the wall gnawed at Delilah’s nerves. She sat forward, elbows on her knees, eyes fixed on the floor but mind racing like a storm.

At last she spoke, her voice low and urgent.

“If what I’ve been told is right,” she said, her jaw tightening, “then they’re not after the mother at all. She’s just bait. The real target is her daughter.”

The guard across from her, a stocky man with graying hair and weariness etched into his face, shifted in his chair. He rubbed his palms together as though trying to rid them of sweat. “You mean… all this time, Alpha Kane’s men were watching the wrong one?”

Delilah lifted her eyes to meet his. There was no hesitation in her gaze, only cold certainty. “No. Kane has never been mistaken. He knows exactly what he’s doing. The mother is leverage—nothing more. If we leave her here, she’ll be the first to pay the price.”

The guard swallowed hard. “Then what do you

LORD KANE'S POV Lord Thane’s voice hit me like a storm, each word vibrating with anger. “Do you have any idea what Rafael has done?!” His roar made my hands tighten around the phone.“I… I know, Lord Thane. It wasn’t supposed to happen like this,” I said, my voice trembling, though I tried to mask it.“Not supposed to happen like this?” His incredulity was sharp, a knife cutting through the air. “Rafael was supposed to eliminate Caleb, not injure his mother! Do you understand what this means?”“I do,” I whispered, swallowing hard. “I gave Rafael the orders. He acted on them—but… something went wrong.”“Something went wrong?” Thane’s voice was now low, almost dangerous. “Do you understand the chaos this will bring? Caleb will be on high alert. Every move we make, he will watch. Rafael’s mistake has put everything at risk!”“I… I’ll fix it,” I said quickly, my mind spinning. “We can contain this. I’ll speak with Rafael and make sure it doesn’t happen again.”There was a long pause on t

MIRA'S POV That morning, I lingered in bed longer than usual. The quiet of dawn wrapped around me, but inside, my thoughts were anything but calm. My hand drifted to my stomach, resting there gently, almost protectively. The life within me was still so small, but her presence was enormous—she filled every corner of my heart.I whispered into the stillness, “Good morning, my little angel. I wonder who you’ll look like. Will you have my eyes or his smile?” A bittersweet ache pulled at my chest. “One day, you’ll ask about him. About why things didn’t work. And I’ll have to tell you… but what if I don’t have the right words? What if you don’t understand?”I blinked back tears. “I don’t want you to grow up thinking love means pain. I want you to grow up knowing you were wanted, that even before you opened your eyes, I was fighting for you. Fighting to make things right.”That was when the decision pressed itself into me like a truth I could no longer avoid. I had to see him. Not for mysel

  • Mated By Kyle, Reborn To Alpha Dane   CHAPTER 48: CARA'S MUSICAL FLUTE

CARA'S POV I slipped quietly out of the corridor, careful not to let the floor creak beneath me, and entered a forgotten room at the far end of the hall. The hinges groaned faintly as I nudged the door shut behind me. The place smelled of dust and faint mildew, as though no one had been here in years.I pressed my hand against the wall and froze. Sound carried faintly through—it wasn’t just stone; there were cracks, hollow spaces, something that tied this room to the one I had been staying in. My heart began to pound. If I played here, they would hear it.For a long while, I hesitated. My fingers brushed over the cloth wrapping at my side, and I pulled the flute free. Its weight was familiar, grounding. I lifted it slowly, almost reverently. The instrument had always been more than wood and breath; it had been a piece of my soul, a voice when words weren’t enough.I held my breath, the silence pressing in all around me, and finally let the first note slip free. It was soft and hesita

CARA'S POV Ryker stood in the corner of the chamber, the flickering torchlight throwing jagged shadows across his face. His arms were folded, his stance casual, but his eyes—cold, unyielding—followed me as I paced the length of the room. I stopped at the table, pressing my palms against the rough wood as if steadying the storm inside me.“It’s time,” I said finally, my voice breaking the stillness like a blade splitting through silence. “Layla. Kyle. And the rest of them who dared to think I was weak. I’ve held my tongue long enough.”Ryker didn’t move, didn’t speak. He only arched a brow, as though testing me with his silence. When I met his gaze, his lips curved into something between a smirk and a sneer.“You mean to start tonight?” He asked, his voice low and smooth but laced with an edge.“Yes,” I answered without hesitation. My tone sharpened as I added, “And I want Maya to hear me. Don’t think for a second I care if she listens from the shadows. In fact—I want her to. Let her

AURORA'S POVYou think your secrets are safe?” I spat, my voice sharp, trembling with anger and fear. “You think I don’t know you killed the only witness to Lady Cara… and that you tried to kill Caleb’s mother?” I took a careful step forward, refusing to back down. “Don’t… dare… come near my daughter, Layla.”Lord Kane’s eyes glimmered in the dim light, unreadable and yet heavy with the weight of everything unsaid. He advanced slowly, like a predator savoring the moment. “Careful,” he said softly, each word deliberate, a quiet menace that made the air around us tense. “Your words… they carry more danger than you realize.”“I don’t care about danger,” I shot back, my hands trembling but steady, my heart hammering in my chest. “I will not allow you to touch her. Not her. Not anyone I love!”A faint smirk played on his lips, one that didn’t reach his cold, calculating eyes. “Bold,” he murmured, “and reckless. Do you really think defiance will shield her? Or protect you?”“I’ll take my ch
