Adams' POV
"You have been invited to be a witness at the wedding ceremony between the Silvercrest pack and the Greenforest park . Both are marrying their children off to each other to seal the alliance between their packs," Ronan, my royal beta, reported as he walked into my office with a pile of documents that needed my attention.
"Oh! The two are forming an alliance?" I asked with a raised brow, and my beta shrugged. "I was just as surprised as you are, considering the bad blood that was between them previously. But then again, the rogue activities in their territory have increased in recent years and even in the past three months, and I'm guessing they have finally realized they have a mutual enemy that needs to be fought together," Ronan explained.
"When is the wedding? Am I attending as a guest or as the alpha king to witness their union?" I asked as I went back to reading the mountain of files on my table. I could never get a break from work, no matter how much I tried. Before I could finish one, there was another waiting to be attended to.
"It's next week. And you are invited, as the alpha king, to sign the cooperation between the two packs," Ronan replied as he handed me the invitation that was sent with my name on it.
"That quick? How long has the preparation been going on? Are those two getting married? Why would I need to sign a cooperation agreement? It's not a merger," I asked curiously, and Ronan shook his head with a complicated expression.
"They aren't mates." He replied.
"I'm not entirely sure what is going on here either. Beta James and his wife were executed just a few days ago under the charges of treason and collision with an enemy pack, and according to the information I got, James' only daughter was Raider's mate, and he had just broken off their bond the day of her parents' execution. What a heartless fellow; he could not even allow the girl to mourn her parents properly," Ronan cursed, and as I sat back into the chair, my curiosity piqued.
I could already see the politics at play from the little information he had given. It was obvious there was a large trap being made around the Greenforest park , with River being at the center. As the alpha king of the werewolf race, I have seen and experienced all sorts of schemes amongst other Alphas and even amongst the ones I call family, enough for me to recognize a scheme at its early stage.
'However, what was the goal? To have more land?' I mused. 'Silvercrest has more territory than the Green Forest, so that should not be their motivation, but is there something we are missing? Maybe something bigger?'
"River is being played," I stated, and Ronan nodded with a mixed expression.
"I also share the same thought. There is no way all that happened can be a coincidence; it smells too fishy. First, James was plotted against. They were obviously removing the threat, and now they are marrying their daughter into the pack—planting a spy," he recounted calmly.
"I can guarantee there has been no alpha as blind as River in all history. He could not even see through such a minor scheme," he sneered, his eyes filled with contempt and ridicule.
"And I also found out Alpha Fred of the Silvercrest pack had been meeting up with your second brother recently. So I'm guessing they are planning something together, and to get it, they needed Green Forest or River out of the way; that's just my opinion though," he added.
Being reminded of my second brother, my face grew cold, and a low growl escaped my lips. "I was getting suspicious that Ben had been a little quiet recently. I guess he has been busy trying to build forces against me, but does he think having both Silvercrest and Green Forest together will be able to deal with me?" I gritted out in annoyance, already losing my cool, that the idiot of my brother was going to be causing more trouble for me to clean up later.
“We don't know his exact plan yet, so we can't tell whether he needs both of them together. There is another possibility that he wants to use them to get rid of the rogue in that part of the kingdom and then use them to raise his influence amongst the people. Either way, we just have to be prepared for a counterattack.” Ramon advised, and I let out a sigh.
"I will be attending the wedding in a week; prepare everything needed," I instructed.
"Alright, I will try to find out more about the happenings between those two in the meantime," Ronan replied, and he began to make his way out of the office.
As he reached for the door handle, he turned back with a mischievous grin. "Your mother will be back next week, and she's saying something about finding the perfect wife for you. I don't know what that is, but good luck, bro," he winked and left, and I let out a deep, frustrated sigh.

"Let's welcome the Alpha King, King Gregory Adams!" The host announced this as I stepped into the large banquet hall of the Greenforest park. Cheers of applause and whispers of praise accompanied every step I took as I made my way to the front of the podium, where my seat had been prepared.
"Thank you for honoring our invitation, your "Majesty." Alpha River smiled as he led me to my seat, where the rest of his people were already waiting. They all bowed, showing their necks in submission, as I took my seat at the head of the table.
"I'm glad I could celebrate such a happy moment with you all," I replied monotonously, acknowledging each one of them with a slight nod of my head. Pretending not to know, I looked around and frowned.
"Why is your beta not here to welcome me? Am I not important enough for a guest?" I growled lowly, and they all went tense. River stepped forward with his head bowed. "I'm sorry, but the pack no longer has a beta." My mind trailed off, and I shut out every voice around me as my wolf began pacing back and forth in my head.
He growled while trying to fight for control as a peaceful yet intoxicating scent of bloodstained rose drifted into my nose. The people around me tensed up as they noticed the change in my demeanor.
I stood up and hurriedly followed the trace of the scent to the back of the banquet hall, where the scene that assaulted me left my blood boiling over.
"How dare you fucking lay your hands on her??”
Adams' POVThe forest appeared ahead covered with an uneasy feeling. As I guided my men into the Green Forest Pack’s territory, I felt the heavy crown on my head.It was a steady reminder of my responsibilities as Alpha, and King of all the Packs. My warriors were nearby, their faces tensed with anticipation, ready to battle, but the deep silence unsettled even the most seasoned of them.“What's happening?” Ronan, my Beta, whispered, looking at the trees as if they might suddenly attack us.“Be careful!” I said, looking closely at the darkening sky. “We might be walking into a trap.”Next to me, Lilith rode, her calmness a source of comfort. She looked at me, and said, “No matter what comes, we will handle it.”I nodded, feeling thankful for her bravery. We had made it too far and given up too much to stop now. Together we moved forward deeper into the Pack.By the time I stepped on the boundary, I expected trouble, but the woods were strangely quiet. I noticed my men sharing anxious
Adams' POVA thick silence covered the battlefield as the last sounds of fighting disappeared. I stood among the leftovers of the fight finally feeling my breath steady again. The harsh truth hit me. It was finished. The rogue army led by the traitor Augustus had been defeated. Their threats will no longer hang over my packs and I will not have to be afraid of backstabbers anymore.“We did it, Adams,” Lilith said quietly, her voice a mix of relief and surprise. She moved closer, her bright green eyes looking into mine. “It is finally done.”A huge weight lifted off my chest at her words. “Yes... it is settled.” Our eyes met and at that moment every other thing felt unimportant. I pulled her close, ignoring our friends and the signs of the battle, kissing her passionately. The salty flavor from sweat and dirt dripped down my throat, but in her presence even the bad feelings turned good. We hugged each other tightly, connecting our hearts as one, enjoying the joy of our victory, and fin
Lilith's POVAn intense fear took hold of me, making me feel cold all over, and it seemed unyielding and harsh. With determination, I shouted out, “You will never be able to have me!” deep inside, I understood that my words were unlikely to have any effect on him.I turned my eyes toward Adams, hoping to see some sign of reassurance from him, but sadly, he was caught up in a fierce struggle with Ben.“Get behind me!” Adeline shouted fiercely, showing her teeth in a threatening way as she got ready to protect me.However, Augustus’s laughter filled the air, such a disturbing sound that sent shivers through my body.“It's pointless,” he said, lifting his hand and carelessly flinging Adeline away as if she were just a small bother to him. She fell onto the grassy ground, but as soon as she got back up, her anger burned even brighter.“All of you are so weak and pathetic. Did you honestly believe that you could possibly oppose someone like me?”“Augustus, you really don't recognize our tr
Lilith's POVThe rogue army charged through the broken and ruined gates, moving with a sense of urgency. My heart was seriously thumping loudly in my chest, like a drum that wouldn't stop, pushing me to do something, to respond to the situation.“Adams!” I mind-linked, trying to get his attention. Lexi caught a quick sight of our mate as he began to change, his body transforming further, his Lycan features gradually taking over. His muscles moved and shifted beneath the bright, fiery fur that covered him. He was a strong and fierce wolf, fully prepared to take charge.“Do not move from that spot, Lilith!” he growled with his voice deep and rough. As he jumped into the chaos of the fight, his strong arms and legs pushed him ahead with great force.I felt a mix of emotions inside me as I had control of my body; I was proud of him for being so brave, but at the same time, I couldn’t shake off the feeling of anxiety and concern. However, I found myself unable to move from my spot. I could
Lilith's POVAs I walked slowly beside Adams, my heart beat hard and fast in my chest. Below the ramparts a terrific battle was going on, and it was intense to witness. Two wolves fighting each other—a fierce and savage dance involving their sharp claws and powerful teeth. The air was filled with the wild and piercing sounds of battle cries which vibrated through the ground under our feet. I became more alert and focused with each second that passed. “Look over there!” I said excitedly, pointing my finger towards something I recognized among the group of troublemakers.“It is the Green Forest, my home pack! I can’t believe they would turn against us like this. How could they do something so hurtful?”Adams' spoke to me, “Ben has influenced their thoughts in a very negative way. He had convinced them that they would take control and gain power. He will not give up until he has succeeded in tearing us apart completely.”“Then we will demonstrate to them exactly what loyalty really mean
Lilith's POVI was standing at the edge of the tall stone walls and I suddenly felt my breath catch in my throat. I looked down at the huge army of wolves that had gathered below me.Their fur was shining and sparkling, catching what little light was left in the sky as the sun started to set. The wolves were making deep low growling sounds that combined into a sound like a heavy dark hum that I could feel deep inside of me.I realized that Augustus had finally come, and I could sense that a big battle was about to take place. It appeared as if a dark cloud was hovering over us ready to unleash terror at any point.“Just take a look at them,” I said quietly in a whisper, as my heart beat loudly in my chest. I turned to Adams, who was standing right next to me.He appeared completely unfazed by what was happening. I noticed that his striking blue eyes were fixed intensely on the dark wave of people stretching out across the field and I couldn’t help but admire how calm and collected he
