AMELIA’S POV
“Amelia!”
I cussed under my breath at the sound of my name from the devil's mouth; my name in her mouth will forever be my worst nightmare.
“Don't let me call you again, or your punishment will be doubled." She said that each word had an undertone that sent chills down my spine. She was always impatient when it came to melting out punishment.
I paused the cleaning I was doing and rushed to her room, or, should I say, hell room. She was waiting by her makeup table with her hands crossed and her signature death glare on her face.
“Why is my table dusty?” She asked, her eyebrows raised, her eyes boring into my skull.
I avoided her eyes and kept my head slightly bowed as the hierarchy demanded a maid for Luna.
“Huh?” I asked, confused. I had just cleaned the table, so how could it be dusty?
I felt a hard slap on the side of my head, making me wince. “I don't repeat myself,” she said, her voice dripping with venom. Where she had hit me stung, but I dared not do anything.
“I just cleaned the table, Luna Chloe. I don't know how it is dusty,” I replied with a shaky voice.
“So you are insinuating that I am a liar?” She asked, her eyes narrowing into deadly slits.
“No, no, Luna.”
I was interrupted by another hard slap and my ear being pulled. I whimpered from the pain, following whatever she pulled at, or else I could risk detaching it from my head.
"Please, ma, please, Luna... I will clean them again." I begged as tears gathered in my eyes from the pain.
She finally let go and hissed, “Everywhere in the room should be spotless; clean everything again, or else I will pull your ear from your head,” she said.
“Yeah, ma,” I said quickly with a nod. It was already noon, and I had yet to eat anything. I spent the entire morning cleaning her room, and now she wanted me to spend the entire afternoon cleaning it again.
She walked past me while muttering, “Such a useless existence, beauty without brains; I will show you why I'm Luna and you are just a filthy maid.”.
As soon as she left, I slumped in relief. Her presence always had me on edge, and thinking about it was not surprising because she seemed to have a personal beef with me. She was the devil's incarnate and was known for her wickedness towards the maids, but for some reason, mine was double wickedness. I heard from other maids that it was because she felt insecure about her appearance, so she chose to torment those who were prettier than her. Some also said she didn't want any females to attract the alpha with their beauty, so she mistreated the maids, especially the most beautiful ones, of which I turned out to be one.
I never understood the logic of being punished or treated like trash for something I can't control, but then, who am I to resist?
I was an orphan with nobody, and I was also an Omega with a weak wolf; that was the bare bottom of the werewolf hierarchy. Life was pure hell for people like me; it was the ultimate torture.
People had a permanent mocking glance for me, and their words were anything but sweet.
“Mutt”
“Rabid dog”
“Weak wolf
“Sad excuse of a wolf”
The insults never end; every day I hear them from people so much that I do not even feel anything. Their words were like hard bricks, but I was numb to them at this point.
The only way I could liberate myself from such fate was by finding my mate, but that too was looking so impossible with my ill luck.
Ever since I was a child, I kept dreaming of finding my mate—that man that was made for me. That man who was supposed to wipe my tears and protect me from this cruel world. But I am twenty years old now and still have no mate in sight.
Other lucky female wolves I have heard of were able to find their mate within months after their first shift. But I was never that lucky; I was the personification of bad luck.
I heard some footsteps approaching, and my heart skipped a beat. I quickly resumed my work and increased my speed.
The footsteps suddenly stopped just outside the door, and another set of footsteps came running. I kept my ears peeled to hear their conversation.
“Luna Chloe, two female wolves have suddenly gone missing,” the person announced.
“Again? Is the shadow moon pack trying to start a war with us? They can't keep kidnapping our people; this is sheer audacityy." Chloe said, her voice lighter than it was expected to be.
I couldn't help but roll my eyes at her fake concern. My pack, the Blue Moon Pack, has been under Alpha Marcus and Luna Chloe's rule for years, and it was nothing to write home about.
Alpha Marcus was a chronic drunkard and gambler who left the pack in wretchedness, poverty, and shambles. He didn't care about the pack and its people, just about the money that came in after extortion. He squandered the money for his selfish interests, driving the pack into more poverty.
Luna Chloe, on the other hand, only cared about the power that came with being a Luna; she loved to be in control and have people worship the ground she worked on, which is why she was so scared of losing her Luna position should Marcus find a prettier woman to be his Luna.
They were both nonchalant about anything that went on in the pack as long as it did not affect them directly. They were terrible leaders.
The pack was weak and vulnerable, so that was why the shadow moon pack could wage war against us and kidnap our males as slaves and females as breeders without any repercussions.
“Inform the Alpha of the new development; we need to tackle this problem as soon as possible,” Luna Chloe said.
Oh, please, like you care about a random missing female in the pack. If it was up to you, you would get rid of all the females just to secure your position.
Shit!
I cussed as the door knob turned and Luna Chloe walked in. I went back to work, my eyes purposefully avoiding hers, staring hard at the matte surface I was cleaning like it was the most important thing in the world.
“Are you still cleaning this spot since I left, or have you been eavesdropping on my conversation?” Luna Chloe yelled as she approached me with angry eyes.
Chapter 116AUTHOR’s POVIn a burst of divine energy, Selene shattered the chains that had bound her, the shattered metal recoiling like living serpents. As she rose, her slender form seemed to expand, filling the temple with an intense light, making an unstoppable power radiate from her. “Aaahhhhhh!!” She screamed in agony, breaking the cage into pieces. She got out of it, and her eyes came in contact with Kael. Kael laughed out hysterically and sarcastically, pointing his hands at the uncontrollable Selene whose claws grew bigger in no time, causing an alarm and havoc in the temple. “You see?” Kael asked no one in particular, still pointing his hands at Selene. “The ritual was successful and she is now with the power of the Lunar God… anybody who….” He was interrupted by Amelia immediately. “What the fuck do you think you are doing?!!!! Unchain us and let us be?!” Amelia screamed, still in the carriage she was trapped in by Kael.Selene turned her gaze to Amelia who was super s
Chapter 115AUTHOR’s POVAt the Red Claw Pack, Several physicians were in the queue, waiting to be called so they could attend to Talon. The fourth one was inside now, attending to Talon. “Is he responding to treatment?” Cassio asked, awaiting the physician’s response. “He is not, My Lord but with time…” Cassio didn't allow the physician to talk before he cut in. “Out!!” Cassio ordered in rage, the physician waited no more before storming out of the room. “They should all leave! They are all incompetent!” Cassio talked again, asking the physicians to leave one after the other. Cassio gritted his teeth in anger, staring at the unconscious Talon. As Talon lay in his slumber, his mind clouded by the darkness of the curse, a faint stirring began to build within him. It was a subtle sense of unease, a growing feeling of disquiet that slowly penetrated the fog of his unconsciousness. Despite how weak he was, Talon's instincts still remained sharp, attuned to the presence of Amelia. He
AMELIA’s POVThe girl I was seeing next to me was my replica! Her eyes were identical to the same amber eyes, the same shape, and the same sparkle. It was just like staring in a mirror, but one that reflected a deeper, more profound connection. I couldn't do anything but stare at her in total amazement, just a clean version of me. Exactly how I look, no changes, and nothing more. The stench I perceived when I entered the temple was of a great personality, never knew my sister would actually look this. I turned my gaze to Charles, just as if he had seen what I was seeing, but he didn't disappoint. He was also staring at us in disbelief. I tried to touch her hand, but she snapped off, causing a stir between Charles and me because I staggered. I tried to touch her again but she adjusted herself from me this time. “I'm…” I tried to pour out the words I'd been practicing to say to her when I finally met her, but right now, I felt zoned out. The look on her face was so scary that I could
AMELIA’s POV“If Talon fully claims you, his beast may consume him forever.” Joe stunned me with the news. “What?” I asked in shock. I turned my gaze back at Stacia, who nodded slightly in agreement with what Joe just stated. “Will his beast consume him forever?” I asked, trying to process what I just heard. “It might consume him forever,” Stacia responded, her expression mild and concerned. “What…What do I do?” I asked amidst fear. “It's up to you and also Talon,” Joe replied before standing; the little girl also stood, and they bowed gently before leaving. I was left alone with Stacia. “Stacia, I'm scared.” I finally talked, feeling more comfortable around her, grabbing her arms. I'll never forget the desperation in my voice as I begged Stacia for reassurance. “Will Talon be okay? Will he wake up? Will his cursed bloodline be reversed?” I felt like I was drowning in anxiety, my mind racing with worst-case scenarios. Stacia's calm, gentle tone felt like a balm to my frazzle
AMELIA’s POVI woke up feeling anxious, my concerns about Talon lingered overnight till I awakened. The events that happened before my eyes last night had nothing to talk about. Being scared was an understatement. I was horrified. Talon has started showing signs of restlessness which was not supposed to be, and as his mate, I was more concerned. I could remember vividly how he held my hands, growling at me while his eyes were flashing dangerously. “A…Amelia, something is…. wrong” He whispered, his voice barely audible. I stared at him, my hands shaking, my mind rumbling with a series of questions; obviously, something was wrong with him. I couldn't do anything to help him, even my powers were not responding then. I just watched him till he blacked out, my eyes on the verge of tears. Waking up now and remembering everything that happened last night did nothing to me but a sign of weakness and uselessness. I needed to take my bath, get dressed, and go see Talon in his chamber, where
AUTHOR’s POVWhile Amelia was still contemplating how to break the news of her sister to Talon, a sudden smell of weird energy emerged in the room, leaving Amelia in a state of confusion. She felt shelled and struck by the smell. She felt another presence in her mind–one, not her own. It was clearly not her own. She struggled to get a hold of herself, but she was unable. She thought it was her sister's mind that had interfered with hers but she heard no voice. She took a deep, steadying breath, her eyes closed as she willed herself to calm down. Her mind was racing with thoughts of her twin-sister, and the impending assault on Kael's hidden temple. She knew she had to confront Talon, to beg him to call off the attack, so she decided to tell Talon about her sister. With a newfound sense of determination, Amelia opened her eyes and began to make her way towards Talon's chamber. Her footsteps were steady, her heart pounding in her chest as she walked. Luckily enough, she found Talon a
