Karla’s pov I lay in bed and looked at Kai, who sat on the edge of my bed with a plate of food. His calm eyes told me all I needed to know about him as he watched me with curiosity. “I can keep this here for you if you want,” he said. “You look like you need something to eat.” I didn’t know what to say to him but to give him an awkward smile. Karla’s pov Axel leaned forward in his chair, his elbows on his knees as he studied me. There was something different in his sharp gaze today—less arrogance, more curiosity.
