ログインCHAPTER SIX : The Test
Kaira’s pov The summons came before noon. A young guard appeared at my door ,avoiding my eyes. “The elders request your presence in the inner hall. ” My stomach dropped. “Why?” I asked. He hesitated. “Evaluation. ” The word made my hands go cold. Late shifters were always evaluated. Most failed quietly and were sent away. Some didn’t survive at all. I followed him through the halls ,my footsteps echoing too loudly in the silence. Wolves gathered along the walls as we passed. No one spoke to me. No one offered support. At the entrance to the inner hall ,Alpha Laim stood with the elders. He did not look at me . That hurt more. “Bring her forward ,” Elder Kingsely said. I stepped into the center of the hall. The ceiling stood high above ,stone carved with symbols of old power. This room had decided the fate of many wolves before me. I can smell the scent of different wolves and also the scent of the ancient herbs in the east and of the hall. “Kaira” Kingsely began ,tapping his staff once. “You shifted late. Your wolf awakened under unusual circumstances. ” I said nothing. “Such awakenings often result in instability ,”another elder added. “ “The consequences are using agressive behaviors , delusion and inclusion and also false bonds. ” Elder Kingsely continued False bonds. i immediately felt panicked. The bond between the alpha and I. Could it be a false bond or a real one? “Do you deny this?” Kingsely asked. “No ,” I answered carefully. “I feel a little bit different. ”A murmur spread through the room. Stella stepped forward ,her smile sharp. “Difference is dangerous. Especially when it affects the Alpha. ”Every head turns. Alpha Laim finally looked at me. His gaze was cold. “Explain yourself ,” Kingsely said to Stella. “She smells wrong ,” Stella said boldly “Stronger. As if she belongs where she shouldn’t. ” The room went still. I felt the bond pulse hard ,like it sensed the threat. “That is enough ,” Alpha Laim said sharply. Kingsely raised a brow. “Is it?” “Yes ,” Laim replied. “You will not report about matters you don’t understand. ” “And you do?” Kingsely pressed. “I understand control ,” Laim said. “And she lacks it. ” I lowered my head. Kingsely studied him for a long moment ,then turned back to me. “We will test your control. ” My heart raced. “How?” “Restraint ,” he said simply. “You will hold your wolf back. ” They brought a stone circle to life with old markings. As I stepped inside ,pressure pressed down on me ,heavy and suffocating. My wolf stirred ,uneasy. “Begin ,” Kingsely ordered. Pain bloomed instantly. This made me remember a memory from years ago I was fourteen and I was still human. And haven’t shifted yet . I was very angry that day . I had a fight with my mother about not attending the teen wolves party . I really wanted to attend the party because I learnt that my crush Aron is going to be there . This might be an opportunity for us to click . I stood at the edge of the training grounds injured , having been knocked down by wolves half my size. Great my day couldn’t get worse “Stand your ground ,” a voice had said it was Laim. He is a very strong wolf who has never lost a battle . His father Alpha Jason was known to be the most ruthless in history. He hadn’t been Alpha yet. Watching me with those same unreadable eyes. “You don’t fight power with force ,” he told me quietly. “You survive it with restraint.” “Breathe ,” he said. “Control is not weakness. It’s the strongest thing you’ll ever learn.”I remembered how calm his voice had been. How safe I felt.I hold onto that memory. My wolf pushed ,confused and frightened. I try hard to rememberAlpha Laim’s earlier commands. Stella watched with satisfaction as I struggled. “You see?” she said. “Weak. ” “Enough ,” Alpha Laim snapped suddenly. All eyes turned to him. “She has shown restraint ,” he said. “More than expected. ” Kingsely studied my shaking form. “Perhaps. ”The pressure lifted. I nearly collapsed. Alpha Laim moved without thinking ,catching my arm before I fell. The contact sent fire through my chest. The bond screamed. The room went silent. He released me instantly. . “You’re dismissed ,” he said harshly. “Before you embarrass yourself further. ” The humiliation burned ,but I bowed my head. “Yes ,Alpha. ” As I left the hall ,I felt every eye on my back. Later ,he found me alone near the training grounds. “You should not have spoken back today ,” he said. “I didn’t ,” I replied quietly. “You existed ,” he said. “That was enough. ” I swallowed. “You stopped them. ” “Because they were pushing too far ,” he replied. “Not for you. ” “Then why touch me?” I asked before I could stop myself. Silence stretched. He stepped closer. “You don’t get to ask that I have been thinking about you all day , “ he confessed. His words sound more like a curse than a compliment. The bond increased . For a moment ,the air between us felt too thick to breathe. I can see him trying hard to stop himself. He moved close so close that we came in contact with each other. My wolf screams in excitement as she felt his scent . The rich scent of cocoa and forest mixed with heavy masculinity. My heart is beating fast as it tries to calm down . Our bodies molded together in perfection Laim pushed against the wall ,his big figure caging me completely Laim didn’t even give me time to process what’s happening as he kissed me . Like a hungry predator. He kissed me with so much intensity that I had no other option but to kiss him back. My body betrayed me for the man who was supposed to be my protector , the man who was married to my mother. And then I felt his finger in my core . I felt his wolf reacting when he discovered how wet I was . His wolf nearly broke free but Laim was able to calm him down . “Fuck ,Kaira ,” I can hear the desire in his voice . “I can’t believe you are fucking wet for me my sexy wolf . ” He didn’t tease me a bit . He lifted my shirt up and inserted his middle finger before adding the next finger stretching me wide . My full breasts came in contact harder against his chest , my nipples getting tighter and peaking through the thin fabric of my top. He felt them with his other hand and let out a deep sexy sound. He made small cycles inside me driving me insane with pleasure . I could feel how big he was ,I’m surprised at how desperately hard he is “I want my fingers to be filled with your juice , my little wolf ,” he said. Laim twisted his fingers harder ,hitting that perfect spot over and over while his thumb moved faster in my pussy without mercy. The pleasure intensified . My whole body reacted as I released , I cried out against his mouth. “ Please Laim ..”I begged . “You belong to me little wolf . Say it I want you to say you are mine “ “I’m yours “ I replied as I hit my climax my juice filled his fingers. Only then did he slowly pull out ,bringing his soaked fingers to his lips. He licked them clean and deliberately locked his eyes with mine ,tasting every bit of me like he owned it. My legs gave out completely. Laim caught me with one powerful arm around my waist. “This changes nothing ,” he said against my skin , though his fingers were still digging into my waist like he was trying to merge our bones. He surely sounded like he was trying to convince himself more than me. I know one thing we just crossed the fucking line. Laim pulled away first. “This ends now ,” he said coldly. “No more weakness. No more moments. ” I stared at him. “You don’t mean that. ” “I do ,” Laim said. “Because next time ,I won’t stop myself. ” He turned and walked away. That night ,I couldn’t help but feel guilty for what I did . Having an intimate moment with my stepfather is something I feel horrible for doing . But he is my mate and I don’t know for how long this will continue.CHAPTER FORTY-SEVEN: The Edge of DarknessKaira’s POVI closed my eyes, bracing for the tearing pain of fangs sinking into my throat. But the impact never came.A deafening, savage roar tore through the clearing, followed by the wet, heavy sound of two massive bodies colliding in mid-air. I opened my eyes to see a flash of silver-gray fur slam into the scarred rogue, throwing him off his trajectory and sending both wolves crashing into the dirt in a chaotic, snarling tangle. It was Ava.She had shifted into her lean, silver-gray beta wolf, her jaws clamped tightly around the rogue's throat as she fought with a desperate, frantic ferocity. She must have followed my scent trail when I fled the pack house. But Ava was a healer, not an elite warrior, and she was outnumbered. The other two feral rogues recovered from their shock instantly. With vicious, coordinated snaps, they descended upon her. The largest brute tore at her hind leg, while the third clamped his yellow fangs into her shou
CHAPTER FORTY-SIX: The Boundary of ShadowsKaira’s POVThe cold wind of the deep woods cut through my thin clothes like a thousand tiny scalpels, but I welcome the pain. It was a distraction from the agonizing, tearing sensation in my chest. The mate bond was screaming, a high-pitched spiritual alarm that vibrated through my soul as the physical distance between Liam and me widened. Every mile I ran felt like a physical thread of my heart being pulled taut, fraying, and snapping. How could he?The question circled my mind in a relentless, punishing loop. He had held me. He had looked into my eyes while buried deep inside me and sworn he would protect what was his. And then, at the very first sign of a storm, he had signed my exile to protect his precious throne. He was a coward. A king of dirt.My vision blurred with hot, angry tears as I sprinted blindly through the dense undergrowth, bypassing the familiar paths of the Golden Pack. I didn't care where I went. I only knew I had to cr
CHAPTER FORTY-FIVE: The Ash of PromisesKaira’s POVThe warmth of the moonstone grove had faded into a damp, clinging chill by the time we returned to the pack house. I had walked back with my head held high, my hand locked in Liam’s, believing the fierce promises he had whispered against my skin. I believed that with the Mark of the First Ancestor on my collarbone and the Alpha of the Golden Pack at my side, we were untouchable.I was a fool. The betrayal didn't come with a physical blow or a battlefield challenge. It came in the quiet, drafty confines of the Alpha’s private study, just hours before the rescheduled emergency council meeting.I had gone to find him, wanting to discuss how we would face the elders together. The heavy oak door to his study was slightly ajar, a sliver of warm light cutting across the dark hallway. I was about to push it open when I heard my mother’s voice—low, sharp, and dripping with that familiar, manipulative poison."If you don't sign the exile decre
CHAPTER FORTY-FOUR: Shield and SurrenderKaira’s POVPower thrummed through my veins like a second heartbeat, heavy and ancient, vibrating with a frequency that made the very air around me crackle. The silver Mark of the First Ancestor burned cool and sharp against my collarbone—a stark, iridescent brand that had altered the trajectory of my entire life in a single, blinding fraction of a second. The very pack that had been baying for my blood just moments ago, the wolves who had eagerly gathered to watch my public execution or humiliation, now knelt in the damp dirt. Their foreheads were pressed hard against the stone and soil, their bodies trembling in a state of terrified, instinctual reverence that they couldn't control even if they wanted to.But the silence of a subjugated pack was a fragile thing, and not everyone in the clearing was willing to surrender their lifetime of prejudice to a sudden miracle.A furious, wet snarl ripped through the stunned quiet of the amphitheater, s
CHAPTER FORTY-THREE: The Mark of the AncestorsKaira’s POVThe morning of the summit arrived not with a sunrise, but with a oppressive, heavy gray sky that seemed to trap the humidity against the forest floor. The summit bells began to toll at dawn, their deep, rhythmic iron clangs vibrating through the floorboards of my bedroom and echoing inside my skull.Clang. Clang. Clang. It was the sound of a gathering storm.I dressed with deliberate, mechanical care. No hoodies today. No hiding. I chose a simple, form-fitting black tunic and dark trousers, pulling my long hair back into a tight, warrior’s braid. When I looked in the mirror, the girl who had sobbed on the floor yesterday was completely gone. In her place stood someone hollowed out by grief but reinforced with steel. The walk to the sacred amphitheater at the center of the pack lands was a gauntlet. The fog had lifted just enough to expose the hundreds of wolves lining the path. Whispers followed me like dry leaves scraping acr
CHAPTER FORTY-TWO: A Single Ally Kaira’s POVThe suffocating weight of my mother’s words still lingered in the air, but the tears had completely dried. My heart felt like a frozen lake—solid, cold, and numb. I couldn't stay in that room a second longer. If I had to sit there staring at the four walls that had witnessed my humiliation, I would lose my mind. Every corner of my bedroom seemed to echo with her screams, labeling me a thief, a home-wrecker, and a whore. The heavy wooden door she had slammed felt less like protection and more like a prison cell waiting to lock me away for a crime I hadn't asked to commit.I threw on a heavy oversized hoodie, pulling the hood low over my face to hide the puffiness around my eyes, and slipped out of the back door before the rest of the house could wake up. The early morning air was biting, a thick fog rolling off the hills of the Golden Pack territory and wrapping around the tall pines like a shroud. The damp ground crunched beneath my sneak
CHAPTER FIVE: The Line He Drew Kaira’s Pov The next morning,I couldn’t help but feel a change in the pack house. It looked like the air itself had turned against me. Every time I walked down a corridor, conversations died instantly.Wolves turned their heads too fast or stared a little too
CHAPTER FOUR: The Secret He Forced Me to Keep Kiara’s POv I woke up a little bit exhausted. I was alone on the bed . The forest was quiet. I could hear the birds singing . My body hurts in a way I didn’t fully understand, and my wolf was restless inside me. It hadn’t been a dream. The bon
CHAPTER TWO: Rules of the Pack House Kiara’s POV The pack house was not a place I can call home. It was a place where I learned to stay quiet, keep my head down, and disappear whenever possible. I learnt to be invisible . On my first morning there, I woke up before dawn to the sound of b
CHAPTER ONE: My Mother Married the Alpha Who Hated Me Kiara’s POV I was seventeen when my mother married a man who hated me . Alpha Liam could barely stand the sight of me. The wedding was held in the pack’s largest hall . It was big enough to contain the whole pack members and a few oth
