Chapter 7
AMBER’S POVAs she left, my heart felt like it was going to come out of my chest. That was a threat and there was no way I could get away from here. This was a place that I was unfamiliar with and I would still be at a disadvantage if I run from here.Neither Moon Hunters Pack or this place was good. I looked at the ceiling, not having anything to do and then I heard the car moving downstairs, so I checked my window and then I saw the trio with Dana, leaving the house.
At least, it was better as I was all alone right now. There would be no one to make me feel scared or uncomfortable. Then my eyes spotted the swimming pool, I got interested in going near it, because of the way it looked. I have never been near a pool and it wouldn’t hurt to go near one right now.
I went downstairs and was amazed at how cool the pool looked. Then I bent down and sat near it, making my legs enter the water. It was a really soothing experience and I couldn’t stop my legs from playing in it.
Then I saw someone at the gate. It looked like the person was headed here, so I walked towards the gate.
“How may I help you?” I asked, out of curiosity.“I am Dan and I am from Miss Dana. She asked me to come over here.” He replied, without an expression on his face.“Oh, I see.”“Are you Amber?”“Yes, I am.”As he mentioned my name, it made me fully convinced that he was sent by Dana and I wonder why she sent him here.
“Please come in.” I said as I opened the gate.He came in and looked around like he was studying the environment and when he got inside, I went to the fridge and offered him chilled juice.
“Thank you. Today is kind of sunny and it made me thirsty. It’s nice of you to offer me this.” “You are welcome. So, are you waiting for her or what did she send you to do?” I asked, trying to understand what he was here for.“Well, she actually sent me to inform you that she wants both of us to get food stuff for her. I guess she wants to surprise her friends.”“What? You and I? How could she say that?” I said, feeling annoyed.I wanted to say more words but I just remembered the way Brandon had threatened me and I didn’t know how much of a chatter box this man was, so it was better to curb the way I would act rashly or speak like I am really pained.
“Uhm… alright then. You will have to give me a minute to wear something better.” I said, with a slight smile on my face.“Alright then. I’ll be here.” He said as he looked around, calmly.I got to my room and screamed into my bed. This was not what I thought would happen. Soon, I would become everyone’s slave, in fact, the country’s slave. How I wished I had people who truly loved me and cared about my feelings and also treat me like a queen that I feel I should be. Afterall, women are queens.
I got dressed and then followed Dan to a grocery store where we bought different groceries. We also went to the mart to get some things that I noticed had been exhausted in the house. While we were on our way back, we carried the things we bought. They weren’t heavy, neither were they much.
“So, you work here?” He asked me, with a smile on his face.I didn’t know he could smile as he had not smiled since he came here. But he didn’t seem bad, looks like he was trying to get to know me more. Could it be that the moon goddess has answered my prayer? Maybe we were going to turn out to be best of friends and meet up whenever the trio and Dana were not around.
“Hello?” He snapped me out of my thoughts, with an inquisitive look.“Oh, I’m sorry. Yeah, I work here.”“Nice. How does it feel to work for three handsome triplets and best of all, they are wealthy and have a spacious space?”“Those things you mentioned are certainly enviable, and anyone would think that working here is actually more like a fairytale come true, but that’s just a thought that isn’t a reality over here. It’s horrible, working for them here.” I sighed and tried my best not to let a single tear drop down.Talking about how I feel bad, working for them made me emotional and it makes me remember how bad I have been treated even before I came to work for them.
“I’m so sorry to hear that. At times, it seems like that, but I am certain that change will always come.” He said, trying to me make me feel assured.I scoffed. “Even if change were to come, I am certain it’s either I get transferred to someone who wants to make me a slave again. I have never been lucky, you know.” I said, with a smile. We got to the house and arranged the foodstuff where it should be and then I served both of us, cold drinks. After that, I sat across him on the couch.
“So, tell me about you. How does it feel, working for Dana?” I asked, out of curiosity, to know how the wicked being treats others who work for her.“Well, I try my best not to get on her bad books, you know. When she gets angry, she is scary.” He said, and chuckled.“Really? Have you ever gotten into her bad book?” I asked, bulging my eyes out, excited that I got to hear interesting information.“Of course. Once bitten, twice shy. I only tried to adjust to more of what she wants, so, I have never been in her bad book since then.” “Wow. Well, what did you do in particular?” I asked as I sipped my drink. He stood up, then gulped his drink, although, he didn’t finish it up, then he dropped it on the table and walk towards me and sat beside me on the couch.
“Well, do you really want to know?” He asked, with a coy smile, then he used his index finger to stroke my arm.“Uhm… What are you trying to do?” I asked, looking at him in confusion.“What does it look like?” He asked as he came closer and licked my ear and held me with a strong grip.CHAPTER 8 I believe it's safe to say that I've learned a thing or two in this my short miserable life. We weren't all created equal, there's a really remarkable standard that keeps hovering around, somewhere above the clouds. These standards do well to keep each and everyone of us in check, preventing certain uncertainties from falling out of place.Out here, it's a two way street. No intersection, No junctions, just a straight road with no crooked ends. The rules are quite simple, be the predator or be preyed on. It's an obvious notion, in this story I'm inevitably the queen prey.Do preys try to resist? Do they run? Are we to hide? What are the odds of surviving in this cruel realm where every odd seems as though it's against the weaker species? All these I thought in that moment with Dan standing right in front of me, taking remarkable strides towards me, with every tick and tock. It didn't come as a surprise when he had pinned me to a wall. His breath fanning down the reigns of m
CHAPTER 9The pain that emanates from the inevitability of not knowing what happens next is so sharp and succinct. It mars you only to mar you again. A thing about the past is that it never leaves you, no matter how promising the future fit's into the canvas' frame, the wound remains fresh. Creating a constant reminder that you'd never really heal from it. I hadn't healed from the accident that happened a few years back, it never really looked like I was going to heal.I relived every day, every moment, creating conspiracy theories that'd have prevented the accident from happening. These thoughts marred me, only to mar me again.I was there again, all blood and broken shards. Staring down below the battered figure that had become of my brother. I could no longer see the smile he usually wore when we went out on night's as these. I could no longer see those bright sparks that lingered within the hearth of his eyes and the thought of never seeing them again made me shed out an ocean. I
I narrowed my gaze as Brandon put his arms over neck and slowly pressed his lips on my cheeks.I gulped down, my hands shaking vigorously and my legs which were beneath the table paralyzed at his single action."Oh my gosh! What?! It's true." Their mum screamed in excitement."Really? Brandon really?" He rolled his eyes feeling a bit pissed."Hey, don't be such a bad eye." Aramis teased.Everyone knew what was going on except their mum. I couldn't help but think, why would he introduce me as his girlfriend? Won't it make things weird when their mum sees me cleaning the kitchen or scrubbing the triplet's room? These three guys are turning my life into a nightmare. I admit there was a time when I saw them as angels but honestly, even the devil would show more pity than they showed me."Amber, I'm so sorry I didn't recognize who you are to my son much earlier." She smiled softly."Uhmmm… it's fine ma. Can I call you mother?" I asked, trying to spice up the drama a little."Awwwwn, that w
Chapter 9AMBER’S POVAs I saw Dan, who tried to molest me the other day, I could feel my anger rising.~Flashback~I could not believe the fact that this man had the gut to try to molest me. He was just too strong for me, but I was lucky enough to release myself from his grip after biting him hard and I ran as fast as I could, towards my room and locked the door, behind me, so he wouldn’t run inside and have his way with me.My heart was pounding hard in fear and I was having regrets of allowing him inside and trusting him easily and listening to his stories, which were beginning to seem like a lie. I couldn’t hear his footsteps around anymore, instead, it was going farther away from my room.Had he given up already? If that was the case, I would love that as I wouldn’t want to be messed up by a filthy stranger, who claimed to work for Dana.~Back to reality~I pointed my finger at him as I moved, steps, backwards.“Why are you pointing your finger at him?” Aramis said, with his righ
AMBER’S POVAs I slowly regained consciousness, the world around me came back into focus. The throbbing pain in my head and the stinging ache in my neck reminded me of the horrifying events that had just unfolded. Brandon had choked me, his grip tightening around my throat until everything went dark. The next thing I remember was being thrown violently onto the floor, the impact leaving me gasping for breath and struggling to comprehend what had happened. As I blinked my eyes open, I found myself lying on the bed in my room. Confusion swept through me like an icy gust of wind, leaving me disoriented and frightened. As I remembered my last memory before I passed out, I felt relief, wash through my veins. Then I noticed someone standing by my side. It was Aramis, who was staring at me with no emotion seen on his face.“I passed out.” I said, with both my eyes, moving left and right, simultaneously.“Yeah. Well, at least, Joey’s camera, saved you from death. Now that you are awake, I’ll
AMBER’S POVIt felt as if my whole world, burned as my favorite book was burning and I could only watch in tears and a broken heart. “Now, it’s all done.” He said as he moved closer to me.“But you know, you are indebted to me. My camera helped you escape the brink of death. You should appreciate me, and you will do that, obviously, by doing whatever I want, or I’ll kill you myself.” Joey threatened, close to my ears.I shivered, wondering what exactly the things I was going to do for him, were. I hoped that they were not the things that would bring me closer to trouble.~The next day, I was woken up by Joey’s knock, which wasn’t that loud, but sharp enough for me to hear. I could have ignored, but he was sharp enough to have noticed that I had woken up after his knock, due to the change in my breath, and all. I was going to be dead meat if I pretended to still be asleep.I stood up to open the door and when I did, he dashed in and closed the door, quietly.“We are going somewhere.
AMBER’S POVFear gripped me and I didn’t know what to do. Now that Aramis and Brandon whom Joey didn’t want them to know about this, were now in the sitting room, what were we going to tell them?I looked at Joey’s hand. The camera was right in his hand, and his brothers had clearly seen it. There was no way out of this, anymore.“So, you went ahead to take pictures with your camera, again, right? Despite telling you to quit this useless hobby of yours!” Brandon shouted.Although, they were triplets, but Brandon seemed more like the older one, and he was respected for the way he handled things. It was certain that Brandon was going to destroy the camera, with his kind of expression, right now, and all those pictures that were taken, would go to waste.Just as I felt so bad when Joey burned my favorite book, I knew it was going to hurt him, if his camera was broken. I wasn’t as wicked as him, so I wasn’t happy about that. Just before Joey could speak, I interrupted.“It’s me.” I said,
AMBER'S POVWhen I opened my eyes, I was in my room and I sat up immediately and checked around to be sure I was really in my room. I stood up and checked myself to see if the scratches from the woods the previous night were still there. But there was nothing there, even if there was something, it would have healed. How did I get to my room? I knew for sure that it couldn't be a dream just because I fainted and the next minute, I woke in my room. Then my door opened and I almost backed into the wall in shock. It was Joey and he came to me.I bowed to him and he sat on my bed and patted the spot next to me, meaning I should sit.I sat gently as faraway as I could and he looked at my arm."The scratches healed pretty well, they were rather deep." He said and I looked at my arms." Did... Did you save..." I started to ask and he looked at me."Thank you." He said and I looked shocked because I couldn't believe he was thanking me. What was he thanking me for?"For what? You saved me." I s
