Willow’s POV

“Take it off!” the Alpha commanded.

My eyes stung from the tears as I slipped out of the coat and let it fall to the floor.

All I wanted was to die.

Death, where are you? I was ready.

“Turn around” the Alpha said, his voice lower now but still firm. I did as I was told and turned so my back faced him.

I felt cold when his hand pressed against my lower back. Another tear fell. This was it.

My brain could not make sense of what was happening? Why was the alpha touching my back?

“How do you have this mark on your body?” he asked.

He meant the birthmark on my back. It was the shape of a moon with fire around it.

“I was born with it,” I said in a shaky breath. I turned and slid the strap of my lingerie so he could see the same mark on my right shoulder. His finger pressed on it and rubbed, like he wanted to make sure it was real and wasn't ink.

“Get out!” he yelled, but he was not shouting at me. He was shouting at the guards of Sir Augustus and the crowd that had gathered.

“But sir, we haven't…” the head guard began, but the Alpha cut him off. “Question me one more time and I'll have your head”

“I'm sorry, Alpha,” the guard said. He bowed and left with the others. I saw my uncle and aunt standing there, confused before they drifted away with the crowd.

“Pick up the coat and put it on” the Alpha ordered.

I did not know if I should feel happy, but the coat on my shoulders felt like a small relief. It gave me hope.

The Alpha motioned to the Luna. They both stepped back into the house and left me standing alone.

But I was not truly alone. Logan was still there. He had been watching me.

He smiled when our eyes met. Even though fear was all I could feel, something small moved inside me at the sight of his smile.

He stepped close to me, I Instinctively stepped back from the proximity. I could feel the heat from his body, it almost burned me. He reached for me and adjusted the coat, covering me up properly.

“That birthmark just saved your life” he said. Maybe it was the way he said “saved” but something in his voice pulled me in. It was a feeling I had only felt once before and that was also today.

“What’s going to happen to me?” I asked him

He shrugged, maybe he also didn't know

“You're about to find out” He gave my shoulder a light squeeze, like he wanted to be kind, and then he went into the house.

Right after he left, a maid came out. “I've been assigned to take care of you. Follow me” she said.

The words take care of you sent a chill through me, but the maid looked kind. I looked around, the only sane decision was to follow her.

She took me to a room that felt like Sir Augustus’s place. She helped me take off my clothes, prepared a warm bath, and gave me clean clothes. It should have felt safe, but I kept thinking back to how this was exactly what Sir Augustus's people did for me before sending me to pleasure him.

“The Alpha will see you now” the maid said when I was dressed. My stomach dropped. No way history would repeat itself. I would rather die.

When the maid reached for my hand, something in me snapped. I ran. I did not know where I was going, only that I would not be a possession. I headed for the back door as soon as I saw it. My heart was pounding hard against my chest.

Before I reached it, someone grabbed the back of my top. I was lifted and slung over a broad shoulder in one motion.

“Let me go!” I struggled, but the man did not let go.

He marched until he dropped me before the Alpha and Luna. “She was trying to escape” he said.

“Thank you, Julian” the Alpha replied. I looked at the man who had carried me. He was tall and muscular. He had on a guards uniform but he looked too young to be a guard, something about him was strangely familiar.

Julian bowed and left.

“No more running away, Willow” the Alpha said, his voice was serious as if my running away somehow affected him.

“How do you know my name?” I asked, standing up on shaky legs.

“I’m the Alpha. I know my subjects” he answered.

"What do you want with me?" I shot at him, using all my willpower to sound brave even though I was scared to my bones.

"Watch your tone, young girl" the Luna snapped. I fell silent immediately.

The Alpha ignored her. He stepped closer, his eyes locked onto my face, searching for something. He didn't look angry anymore. He looked... fascinated. Like a miner who had found a diamond inside a lump of coal.

"Do you know what that mark on your back means, Willow?" he asked, his voice was deceptively calm.

I shook my head slowly.

"My aunt said it was just a birthmark" confusion clouded my senses. How was my birthmark suddenly so important?

"It is not just a birthmark" the Alpha said, walking around me slowly.

"It is the Mark of the Moon-Fire. It only appears once in a generation"

He stopped in front of me.

"It brands you as a True Mate. Specifically, a mate designed by the Goddess for the Alpha bloodline"

My breath hitched.

"I... I don't understand. I'm wolfless, I can’t be… "

He cut me off immediately

"Power does not always require a wolf" he muttered, almost to himself. Then he looked at his wife, the Luna.

"She is the one”

He turned back to me. The look in his eyes made me shiver. It wasn't kindness. It was something scary

"You are alive because you are no longer a person, Willow. You are a necessity. That mark binds your soul to my sons"

"Your... sons?" I whispered, my heart hammering against my ribs.

"One of them is your mate" the Alpha declared with finality.

"And until we figure out which one, you are the property of this house. If you try to run again, you won't just be breaking a law. You will be committing treason against the Crown"

He motioned to the guards standing at the far exit.

"Take her to the Royal Wing. She is not a prisoner anymore. She is the future Luna”

In that moment I knew, my life was never going to be the same.

  • His Brother's Fated Mate   Noticing...

Willow’s POV"I do not like him " I replied quickly and involuntarily raised my hands up. I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks.Cassie’s smile widened as she moved closer to me "I saw how you looked at him just now. You practically stopped breathing when he wiped his face"I adjusted my seat on the bleachers, trying to look anywhere but at the court or at Cassie"I just looked at him. What do you mean?"Cassie hit my arm playfully. "You know exactly what I mean, Willow"I unconsciously looked back at the field where Lucas was playing. He had a determined look on his face as he ran with the ball. He managed to dribble past each player and threw the ball into the net with such ease it looked like he was even bored. He turned to where I was sitting and our eyes met again, he had a smug smile and I immediately looked away. I could feel the heat in my cheeks again. And then a realization hit me. I sucked in a breath. Cassie was right. I did like him. It was not just the mate’s

  • His Brother's Fated Mate   Toxic Negativity

Willow’s POVI sat across from Mia at our usual lunch table. The cafeteria food was not bad but my mind was elsewhere. I should’ve been thinking of the Tecans or last night but all I could think of was Julian and Mia. I could not hold it in anymore, I had to ask. "What happened with Julian?" I asked in a low voice "Last night he told me that he turned you down"Mia picked up a fry and shrugged as she munched it down. "Maybe he realized he was wrong" she said with a bright smile.I frowned. Something was definitely wrong. Last night the way Julian spoke to me. He was relieved to turn Mia down. It wasn’t a mistake. He had specifically told me he liked someone else, but I could not bring myself to say that to her face."Something just seems off, Mia” Her smile dropped instantly. She let out an annoyed huff. "Can't you just be happy for me?" she snapped. "All this negativity is really toxic"I pulled back, vividly stung by her words."Im sorry" I apologized quickly. Before I could s

  • His Brother's Fated Mate   Something Is Strange

Willow’s POV“Some people are just naturally nice” I gave Lucas a pointed look. “Not everyone has an agenda”He shrugged my words off“I didn’t ask you here so we could argue about Julian”“Why did you ask me here?” I swallowed hard and met his eyes.Part of me wondered if this was the moment. Was he going to take back his rejection? In this library, surrounded by beautiful books and the quiet, historical atmosphere, it would be the perfect setting.“The monster that attacked us. There’s a book on it here” Lucas said.Oh. I facepalmed myself. Why did I think we would be here for anything else? “Maybe there’s a book that explains your powers too” he added “I don’t have powers” I argued. “It was just a spur of the moment”“You had a vision before and now this. Willow, isn’t it clear that there is something different about you?”I let out a heavy sigh. Maybe being different was appealing to some people, but not to me. I had lived most of my life without a wolf, and being an outsider

  • His Brother's Fated Mate   Tell me

Willow’s POV “So….” I leaned towards Julian with an interested smile. It was sad that he and Mia couldn’t work but that didn’t mean I couldn’t interested in his love life “Who is the lucky lady?” Julian shrugged. The weariness from earlier had totally worn out and now he looked better. I hoped Mia would feel the same too “You’ll know when the time is right” “But do I know her?” He shook his head “I’m not sure you two have met” “Is she from your college?” “No. I met her somewhere else” he said after a minute of silence I leaned closer to him “Are you seriously not going to tell me who she is?” His lips broke into a laugh and he pushed me away gently “Haven’t you heard of personal space?” I pushed his hand away as a soft laugh left my lips “Just show me a picture” “No. Didn’t you say you had to be in the library. Do you even know where that is?” he dusted off his cargo shorts as he stood up “No. I don’t but I know you’re going to show me” “Fine. Let’s go” I foll

  • His Brother's Fated Mate   This will sting.

Willow’s POVI hurried into my bathroom and rummaged through the bottom cabinet until I found the small white first aid kit that I had seen there before. When I came back out, Lucas was still standing near the window, his hand pressed tightly against his bleeding side.“Please sit” I told him, keeping my voice as calm as possible. He nodded and walked over slowly. He lowered himself onto the edge of my mattress, and the bed dipped heavily under his weight. I pulled up a small chair and sat right in front of him. I opened the kit and pulled out a bottle of antiseptic and a stack of clean cotton pads.“This is going to sting a little” I warned him. He didn’t say anything, he just nodded. His eyes watched my hands. I poured the clear liquid onto the cotton and carefully pressed it against the deep, dark gash on his abdomen. He flinched immediately and grabbed my wrist, pulling it from his body. I stopped and met his eyes.I did my best to ignore the way his hand on mine made Skylar f

  • His Brother's Fated Mate   Help me

Willow’s POVMy hands were still shaking as I looked down at my palms. I could still feel the strange heat buzzing under my skin. I looked back at Lucas, my heart hammered against my ribs. Whatever that was, it was beautiful and scary. “I don’t know” I whispered,“It just came out of me”He stared at me, his chest heaved as he tried to catch his breath. The shock was clear in his dark eyes, but he didn't look afraid of me.“Well, whatever it was” he coughed slightly, leaning against the dirt. “You just saved my life”I froze for a second. The way he said it. The way he looked at me. It felt natural. Like we were made to protect each other. Was this what the Luna meant when she said I had a role to play? “What was that thing?” I asked as I looked back at its disintegrated form. “I’ll explain later” he said in a hoarse voice as he tried to push himself up. “Right now, we have to get Winnie home before her father finds out that she is missing”My hand grazed gently over his bleed

  • His Brother's Fated Mate   Don't Worry

Willow’s POVI knew I had to leave even before Mia said it. Her grandmother was so sick, she probably needed a whole room to herself and the four kids had so much energy that they needed space to run around. It wasn’t the best time to have a guest. Luckily, I had school. It gave me eight hours to

  • His Brother's Fated Mate   Don't Confuse Me

Willow’s POV“Do you want to come in?” The words were out of my mouth before I could stop them.I saw Lucas’s composure shatter for a split second. His mask of indifference slipped, and for a heartbeat, he looked at me with such raw intensity that it made my knees weak. His gaze ran over my face, l

  • His Brother's Fated Mate   A Knock

Willow’s POVThe moment I stepped into Mia’s apartment, I felt a bit of relief sip into my bones. I was glad the house was empty. I wouldn’t have wanted her mother to see me like this. “My brother is on the night shift and my mum traveled to see her family” Mia explained, locking the door behind u

  • His Brother's Fated Mate   Logan's POV

Logan’s POVI’ve always been an empath. Or at least, that’s the label Lucas threw at me whenever I cared too much about something he considered a "distraction." I think that’s why I fell so hard for Chloe. I didn't just see her beauty; I felt her light. It’s why I chose to be loyal to her even when
