로그인Willow’s POV“Some people are just naturally nice” I gave Lucas a pointed look. “Not everyone has an agenda”He shrugged my words off“I didn’t ask you here so we could argue about Julian”“Why did you ask me here?” I swallowed hard and met his eyes.Part of me wondered if this was the moment. Was he going to take back his rejection? In this library, surrounded by beautiful books and the quiet, historical atmosphere, it would be the perfect setting.“The monster that attacked us. There’s a book on it here” Lucas said.Oh. I facepalmed myself. Why did I think we would be here for anything else? “Maybe there’s a book that explains your powers too” he added “I don’t have powers” I argued. “It was just a spur of the moment”“You had a vision before and now this. Willow, isn’t it clear that there is something different about you?”I let out a heavy sigh. Maybe being different was appealing to some people, but not to me. I had lived most of my life without a wolf, and being an outsider
Willow’s POV “So….” I leaned towards Julian with an interested smile. It was sad that he and Mia couldn’t work but that didn’t mean I couldn’t interested in his love life “Who is the lucky lady?” Julian shrugged. The weariness from earlier had totally worn out and now he looked better. I hoped Mia would feel the same too “You’ll know when the time is right” “But do I know her?” He shook his head “I’m not sure you two have met” “Is she from your college?” “No. I met her somewhere else” he said after a minute of silence I leaned closer to him “Are you seriously not going to tell me who she is?” His lips broke into a laugh and he pushed me away gently “Haven’t you heard of personal space?” I pushed his hand away as a soft laugh left my lips “Just show me a picture” “No. Didn’t you say you had to be in the library. Do you even know where that is?” he dusted off his cargo shorts as he stood up “No. I don’t but I know you’re going to show me” “Fine. Let’s go” I foll
Willow’s POVI hurried into my bathroom and rummaged through the bottom cabinet until I found the small white first aid kit that I had seen there before. When I came back out, Lucas was still standing near the window, his hand pressed tightly against his bleeding side.“Please sit” I told him, keeping my voice as calm as possible. He nodded and walked over slowly. He lowered himself onto the edge of my mattress, and the bed dipped heavily under his weight. I pulled up a small chair and sat right in front of him. I opened the kit and pulled out a bottle of antiseptic and a stack of clean cotton pads.“This is going to sting a little” I warned him. He didn’t say anything, he just nodded. His eyes watched my hands. I poured the clear liquid onto the cotton and carefully pressed it against the deep, dark gash on his abdomen. He flinched immediately and grabbed my wrist, pulling it from his body. I stopped and met his eyes.I did my best to ignore the way his hand on mine made Skylar f
Willow’s POVMy hands were still shaking as I looked down at my palms. I could still feel the strange heat buzzing under my skin. I looked back at Lucas, my heart hammered against my ribs. Whatever that was, it was beautiful and scary. “I don’t know” I whispered,“It just came out of me”He stared at me, his chest heaved as he tried to catch his breath. The shock was clear in his dark eyes, but he didn't look afraid of me.“Well, whatever it was” he coughed slightly, leaning against the dirt. “You just saved my life”I froze for a second. The way he said it. The way he looked at me. It felt natural. Like we were made to protect each other. Was this what the Luna meant when she said I had a role to play? “What was that thing?” I asked as I looked back at its disintegrated form. “I’ll explain later” he said in a hoarse voice as he tried to push himself up. “Right now, we have to get Winnie home before her father finds out that she is missing”My hand grazed gently over his bleed
Willow’s POVWinnie wanted me to find her. She liked throwing little tantrums like she did the last time she came over. The only place that came to mind was Lucas’s hut. That day I shifted, Winnie was there. So she knew I knew it. “Are you sure she’s here?” Lucas asked as we stepped down from his car.“It’s the only guess I could make” I looked around for any sign that a little girl was here and from the slightly open curtains I could see a little light peeking out. I rushed and pushed the door open.Winnie was spinning on the rotating chair. She smiled as she saw me and jumped from the seat like she had just won a game. “7 minutes and 30 seconds. That’s the shortest it has taken anyone who was not my dad to find me” she laughed and crossed her arms around her self“You must really care about me?” This little girl was either crazy or just starved of attention. Either way, she needed to know what she did was wrong. What if she had gotten hurt? “This is not funny, Winnie” I shook m
Mia’s POV “Can we talk now?” I asked Julian for the millionth time. He said he invited me so we could talk but so far he preferred to greet the alphas and shake hands than to actually talk to me.Was he even going to ask me to be his girlfriend? Was that all in my head? “Okay let’s go outside” his hand wrapped around mine. I smiled at his touch as he led me out of the massive hall. I spotted Willow and Lucas on the dance floor. For a guy who rejected her, he seemed to look at her with too much intent. We passed Logan and Chloe who seemed to be arguing about something. Finally, Julian stopped under a tree. “I wanted to push this for a while but it’s not fair to either of us” he started to say. His hand let go of mine and I knew something was off. Not fair to either of us? Was this a breakup? We had not even started dating. “Since that kiss on your birthday, I’ve been thinking about us”Maybe I was wrong. I smiled at him “I like the sound of us” “Mia, you’re beautiful and sm
Willow’s POVI managed to trudge back to my room, every step felt like I was dragging weights attached to my ankles. My head was pounding, a rhythmic drumming that synced with the agonizing ache in my chest. My heart beat with a hollow, frantic thud, and in the back of my mind, I could hear Skylar
Willow’s POV“I…”I could see the shift in his eyes, the way the warmth was being vacuumed out, replaced by the iron-cold discipline of a guy who knew nothing but duty.My heart started to hammer against my ribs, not with excitement this time, but with a sickening dread. I knew that look. It was the
Willow’s POVThe darkness wasn’t empty this time.I was standing in a vast, endless white space. There were no walls, no ceiling, just a blinding, peaceful light that made the empty void strangely feel safe. In the center of the void stood Skylar, my wolf, she was larger than in the mirror. Her wh
Willow’s POVI wasn't alone. Standing right behind my shoulder was a wolf. A large white wolf. I turned behind me but it wasn’t there. I scrambled backward, my back hit the cold wall, my eyes never left the mirror. The wolf was still there in the reflection. She was massive, her fur so white it l
