I hadn't seen Cassian since then. I didn't know where he was, so I didn't bother going back to the suite. I couldn't risk seeing him. I'd hidden away in the library, waiting for Mrs Alanna, but she hadn't shown up. It was nighttime, and there was nowhere to run.

I considered going back home, but I didn't trust that my mother wouldn't kick me out.
