Claire's POV
A week passed by and I barely left my room. I avoided wolf interaction as much as possible, mostly Darien's. Finally, I summoned courage and walked right into his room without knocking. I was met with a wide, masculine back. My eyes trailed down the spine to meet dark, tight briefs hugging his waist and tight butt. My wolf was yelping and itching to bed her mate. He didn't seem to notice my presence in the room. Maybe he did with the way his spine straightened as he walked over to his drawers. A blue set of trousers blocked the magnificent view of his delicious-looking butt. "Are you going to say something or keep staring at my ass?" He still looked away from me, his gaze on something probably more interesting than his mate. My cheeks turned crimson. "I wasn't staring. I merely took a glance." He turned to me, nodding in agreement ever so lightly but I knew he didn't fall for my lies, even I didn't. "You should tell that to the drool on your lips." He pointed out My fingers rushed to my face, checking in a not-so-subtle manner. I turned even redder when he burst into laughter. I just kept embarrassing myself in front of him. No wonder he didn't want anything to do with me. I rolled my eyes, trying to play it off as nothing. "It's not that funny." He raised a brow in disagreement. "From where I'm standing, it is." I waved a hand in the air, changing the subject. "That's not why I'm here. I want to discuss something with you." "Go ahead, take a seat." He beckoned to his king-sized bed covered in red duvet. I took a quick survey and noticed he didn't own a chair. Who doesn't own a chair in their room? I let it slide as I walked over to him, sitting my ass at the end of the bed, keeping a large distance between us. He gave a charming smile that would have woman dropping their panties. I gulped loudly. Maybe this was a bad idea. "You know what? I'll check back when you are in your office. This is inappropriate." I tried getting up, aiming for the door when a large hand pulled me back. I fell into a hard body. Fuck! "How so? You are my mate and you are bound to see this room sooner or later. It was my mistake not showing it to you in the first place." He held me tightly in place, not letting me off him. "Still, I don't want to be in here longer than I have to. This doesn't bring good memories." "You've been avoiding me all week. You barely come out of your room, you eat three square meals in there. You don't even interact with the pack members." His words had me feeling guilty which they shouldn't have. I didn't belong here. My job was to bare pups and I wanted nothing more than to do that. "Interacting and being friendly wasn't part of the job description." I let him in on my exact thoughts. "I thought you wanted it this way. The less attached the better." "I don't want you isolating yourself from the pack, it won't be good for my image. Their Luna needs to interact with them, at least that's what they think." He finally let go of my arm. I scooched inches away from him which he frowned at, instantly closing the space between us. I tried creating more space and ended up with my butt on the floor. This just kept getting better and better. I thought I couldn't embarrass myself more, guess I was wrong. "Aren't you going to get up or are you going to stay on the floor?" He frowned. I got of the floor shyly, pushing my straight, brunette hair in my face to cover my flaming hot cheeks. It was awkward for a moment and I remembered why I was in his room in the first place. "The reason I came is to let you know that I need to begin training soon. Is there anything I need to know before I start? Anything you'd like to tell me?" He paused for a second. "One question. Why do you need to train? You are more than safe in my pack. My members are more than capable of protecting you." "Of course they are. I need to return to my pack. It's not like you plan on hanging around forever. I do my job and I'm out of here, back to protecting myself and my family." He looked like he wasn't going to budge but I needed to change his mind. "I've trained almost every day of my life and I'd like to believe that I'm good at it. It might be the only thing that I'm good at and I don't want that taken from me because I found a mate." He gave in. "Fine, you get to train with the other enforcers and she-wolves. Maybe then you can interact more with the pack. I guess we both get something out of this." He held out a hand for me to take. I looked at it for a second, weighing my non-existent options before taking it. Ignoring the sparks that shot up my arm, I murmured to myself but I knew he caught it. " I hope I don't regret this."Darien's povI let out a deep sigh as I slowly began to feel the weight of the battle I had fought earlier. I glanced at Claire, who was still gazing out of the window, she was still staring at the moon, admiring its beauty. “Claire, I’m exhausted, how about we get some rest?” I said, my voice low and rough. It has been a stressful day for me and now that I am back I started realizing what a day it has been. She turned to me with a soft smile on her face. “Yes Darien you really should rest, you need it and besides I’m pretty tired too,” she said placing her hand on my shoulders. I nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. I wrapped my arms around Claire's shoulders as I led back to bed As we climbed under the covers, I felt my eyelids growing heavy. I pulled Claire close to me as I felt the warmth of her body. “Thanks for being here with me Claire,” I whispered into her ears, my voice barely audible as I was extremely tired. Claire placed her hand on my chest and gave me
Darien's povThe pack members that welcomed me as I returned had gone back to their respective duties and so did Claire I couldn't find her. I assumed she must have gone back to my room to wait for me.I made my way to my room, the conversation I just had with Audrey still lingered in my mind like the scent of a rival pack. The moon was full, casting a silver glow over the room, and I could feel the primal energy of the night coursing through my veins. My mate, Claire, was waiting for me, her piercing eyes sparkling with concern as she stood up from the bed."How were your conversations with Audrey?" she asked, her voice husky and seductive, like the call of a wolf in the night.I walked over to her, and as I sat down beside her, I could feel the warmth of her body, and the scent of her skin, and I felt at peace."It was…. Bad I said, trying to process the revelations that Audrey had shared with me. "She told me that Dosy has a special gift, the kind of gift that makes her a target fo
Darien's pov “Ava, stay here and keep watch let me go and check out that cabin,” I said my voice taking on a more serious tone.Ava nodded, her eyes filled with concern. "Be careful, Alpha," she said.I nodded and as I approached the cabin cautiously, my heart pounding in my chest. As I stepped inside, I was hit with a wave of unfamiliar scents and sensations. The cabin was small with a fire pit in the center of the room. There was a small table and chairs in one corner, and a bed in the other corner. But what caught my attention was the strange symbol that was on the wall, a symbol that seemed to have a dark and evil energy.I felt a surge of unease as I looked at the symbol. What was this? And what did it have to do with the outsiders and the strange occurrences in our territory?I took a step closer to the symbol because of my curiosity. As I examined it more closely, I could feel a strange energy stemming from it, like a dark and evil presence was watching me.Suddenly, I heard a
Darien's povAs I followed Lewis? We made our way to the edge of the pack's territory. By this time the sun was beginning to set. For some reason, I felt off as we approached the area where the outsiders were said to have been spotted. Lewis stopped under a tree as he looked around the area. “Alpha, I've got the team in position, we’re ready to move out and investigate,” he said.I nodded, my eyes scanning the area as well. I could sense that something was off but I couldn't quite figure out what it was exactly. “Let's move out,” I said, my voice filled with authority and command. "Stay focused and stay alert. We don't know what we're up against."The team nodded, their faces set with determination. We moved out, our senses on high alert as we made our way deeper into the forest. As we walked, I could feel a sense of anxiety building within me. Something was out there, and I could sense it. I just didn't know what it was yet.Suddenly, Lewis stopped, "Alpha, I've got something," he
Darien’s PovAs we walked back through the woods, the trees grew closer together and the sound of voices grew louder as we were approaching the pack’s territory I could feel my wolf's excitement at the sight of home. Finally, we were out of the trees and I saw the pack members spread out before us. The sun shone down on the surface at its peak, casting a warm glow over everything. Claire squeezed my hand, and I looked at her. She was smiling with excitement and I didn't need her explanation to know that she enjoyed every bit of the time she spent with me. “Sweet home,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.I nodded, smiling back at her. “Yes darling, nothing feels like home," I said. "I'm always happy to be back with the pack."As we walked towards our chambers the pack members began to emerge from their doors greeting us with smiles and waves. My wolf felt a sense of pride and authority as the Alpha of the packWe made our way to the pack's dining hall, where lunch was alrea
Darien’s PovAs we both explored the woods I felt relaxed from all the pack stress, of leadership. We walked for a few minutes and soon the sound of running water grew louder with each step and I knew we were getting close to the stream. Claire squeezed my hand gently and I smiled at her, I knew she was excited to get there since it was her idea we take a walk in the woods. Finally, we were out of the trees, and in front of us was the stream sparkling under the sunlight. The wind blew gently alongside the rumbling of the water. Claire smiled in delight, and I couldn't help but chuckle at her happiness. We moved closer to the edge of the water and Claire let go of my hand. She knelt, putting her hands together to fetch the water for a drink. I sat down beside her, watching her as she splashed the water on her face excitedly and laughed. I felt a surge of emotions I can't quite explain but I knew I was happy to see Claire in that state. Happy and enjoying the beauty of nature. “Yo
