Immediately we walked into the pack house, he pulled me by the arm. "Welcome to hell, Darling." I tried to pull away from him, giving him a piece of my mind now that he had no leverage over my head. "Firstly, stop with the pet name-calling. It doesn't go well with your image." He pulled me closer, we were breathing the same air now as he held my eyes in his icy orbs. "My image? And what just might that be?" I responded with a shaky breath. "You know, arrogant, mean, insufferable." He took a deep breath, his head touching mine."Is that all?" His hand wound around the small of my back. His actions sent a pool of wetness between my legs. I knew he could sense my arousal, anyone for miles could. It was turning into an ocean as he pushed me into him. "Rude, ruthless, evil?" I stated breathlessly, nearly giving in to my desire. "Rude? I've been nothing but polite since we met." His lips were inches from mine. My eyes closed subconsciously as I waited for his lips to meet mine. …….. One curse, two mates, and the end of the world

They said it was normal to get pre-wedding jitters just before the wedding. You start to doubt everything and question everyone. Was this really the dress for me? Did I look fat in it? Are those the right flowers for me? And…. Was he the right one for me? I'm one of the few who didn't go through all that. It was happening, I was getting married! Mother patted down on my arm as we walked down the aisle, trying to ease my nerves but it did her more good than it did me. She took a deep breath, controlling her breathing. She looked stunning in her ash, plunging neck-sleeve sequin dress. With a small smile her way, I stood in front of him. I had the widest grin on as I looked over at my father wiping off a stray tear with his handkerchief. I was used to it, I'd seen a lot of stray tears and worn-out kerchiefs as he had always been proud of me. "By the power vested in me by the goddess herself, I give to you this drink that your bond may form and you shall become true mates." He took a dark bowl from the ancient box, the markings were falling off and difficult to read. "The she-wolf goes first." He passed me the mate potion, the potion that made all this real. I'd be mated to Jayden, the pack's beta, and my best friend. We'd rule the pack together and together break the curse. One quick look at him and I was enchanted, he looked as good as he did yesterday. I might even say better, his usual messy blond strands and his always-covered masculine physique in wore-out tee-shirts and boxers were looking tidy for a change. Covered in a dark suit and his strands over his eyes, I was tempted to push them away so I could stare at those emerald orbs I'd grown to love. He had the same look I have on, at least I thought so. He choked on a sob, his fist to his mouth as he tried to contain himself. My eyes dropped to my shaky hands, it suddenly felt real. I drank this and there was no going back whatsoever. I could never go looking for my real mate, never know what he looked like or if he even wanted me. I could never get to know him, get that rush that all she-wolves get when they come in contact with their mate for the first time. I shook my head, trying to clear the sad thoughts and thought about the positives. I was saving the werewolf world as I knew it. I did this and everyone would be safe and happy and that would make me happy…. I hope. Bringing the bowl to my lips, I saw my reflection. My face was adorned in the lightest shades of colors to go with my pale skin, a contrast to my full lips coated in a red shade of lipstick. I was as pale in human form as my wolf, Kira. Kira was nowhere to be found. She was there, just not…. There. She was sad, wailing, and begging to stop this as she wanted her true mate. I was practically forcing the mate bond on her but I needed to do this. I needed to make Father proud, always. Father nudged me, urging me to hurry. "Go on." One last look at the crowd and I saw the scared, eager faces. Everyone was here, even the alpha king. It was of one-of-a-kind ceremony, it only made sense that he'd be here to witness it. All alphas from the eleven packs sat in the front row, all except one, alpha of the Red Moon Pack. It's understandable as he was never at events like this. A figure moved around the corner and my eyes followed instantly. Craning my neck past Jayden I saw nothing but the white curtains, it might have been nothing. Maybe it was nothing and I was just looking for something, anything to stop all that was happening. Murmurs echoed from within the crowd, the anxiety, and fear eating everyone. Yells and screams came from the middle of the room. "Drink it already!" "What are you waiting for?!" "Do you want us all dead?!" Fear built up in me suddenly. A warm hand took mine and I trailed it to his eyes, Jayden's eyes. He tried to reassure me with them, they spoke words to me. On a regular day, they'd warm up my inside but today was not the day. I was giving up my life, and my youth to save everyone. I was suddenly not so sure it was what I wanted. Thin lips met my full ones in an intimate kiss. The crowd had gone silent now as they watched our tongues intertwine in a sweet, divine battle. It wasn't my first time kissing him but it felt different. I didn't feel giddy like I usually did and I suddenly didn't like his hands on my lower back tracing the line of my corset. Why was this happening? Was it because I'd finally come of age? Because I turned eighteen today? He broke away from the kiss, my hand still in his. He brought mine to his chest and I could feel it beating really fast. I knew I affected him but not that much. "We'll be fine," he flashed me a smile, his pearly white teeth showing themselves to me. I nodded. Taking a deep breath, the cold bowl touched my lips. My eyes fell close and just as the drink was about to touch my lips, it fell from my hands. I heard gasps around me. I turned to find angry black orbs glaring at me. His jaw clenched and unclenched as he steamed like a get pot on a stove. He looked about ready to throw a punch at my father when he tried intervening. I needed to step in and I did. "What do you think you are doing, you are ruining my wedding?!" I walked close to him, almost closing the distance between us. He was only a hair breath away from me now. The response I got was a smirk that annoyed me even further. "That's not any way to treat your mate."Darien's povClaire went back to her room and I prepared myself to visit Audrey. The evening breeze blew around the pack as I approached Audrey's chambers.I stood outside Audrey's chambers, my heart heavy with emotions. The woman who had raised me since I was a child, since after the departure of my parents. The woman who taught me everything I knew and has been a mother figure in my life now harbored a deep-seated hatred for my mate, Claire.A hatred that threatened to destroy everything, I took a deep breath, preparing myself for the confrontation ahead. As I entered, Audrey's eyes flashed with anger, her gaze piercing."What are you doing here Darien," she spat, her voice venomous.I stared deep into her eyes "Mother," I replied, using the term I'd used sometimes in my childhood. For a moment, I saw that her expression softened and I saw a glimmer of the woman who had nurtured me. But then it vanished, replaced by a hardened expression."You're still defending her," she accused, h
Claire's povIf she loved him so much she wouldn't have tried to harm his mate right? This is something else entirely not to be called love."Claire please I'm so sorry, I understand how pained you are but I promise to clear the air between you and Audrey at least so she doesn't do more than this."I didn't have time to respond with anger I stormed out of Darien's chambers, my heart racing with anger and fear, the weight of our conversation settling heavily upon me. The weight of Audrey's hatred her desire to harm me, still lingered in my mind like a fresh wound. How could someone harbor such malice and hatred towards me for no reason at all? What did I actually do to her to deserve such disgust? As I hurried off to my room, my footsteps echoed off the walls. I seemed to be trapped, suffocating by the scent of lies and hatred surrounding me.Finally, I burst into my room, slamming the door behind me in anger, I leaned against the door, trying to catch my breath, but my mind refused to
Claire's povLewis stared at us, a glimpse of urgency in his eyes. "Claire, he said. "The Alpha needs you."My heart skipped a beat. 'What could be wrong? is Darien okay?' I thought. "What's wrong?" I asked Lewis.Lewis's expression turned grim. "Elijah's testimony revealed more than we expected."Raven's eyes narrowed. "What did he say?" she asked.Lewis hesitated. "Come with me," he said. "The Alpha will explain and he isn't too okay Luna, because of the hit he took for you besides I've called the pack's doctor."My heart skipped a beat. "What…. He's not okay due to the hit? I thought he was okay before I left. How's he now? Is it that bad? Has the doctor arrived? What did the doctor say? I asked all at once, my voice shaking in fear."Calm down Claire, it's not that bad besides he's the Alpha he'll be fine, He has survived much more severe attacks. But I've called the pack's doctor to check on him, he requested for you. A pack wolf told me she saw you walking into the woods that's
Claire's povI slipped away from the windmill, seeking solace in the familiar woods. The trees towered above, their leaves rustling in the gentle breeze. I followed the winding path to our secret spot where Raven had always awaited me.Raven focused on her dance and didn't notice my presence for a while. As I walked closer to her piercing eyes met mine and her long curly hair danced in the wind. Her athletic build and toned physique made her a skilled she-wolf."Claire, she said, her voice sharp as she walked over to give me a comforting hug.I smiled brightly "Raven," I replied. She spread out her arms wide open and I stepped into her warm and comforting embrace. Raven is one sweet soul I met since my arrival at the Red Moon pack. She has always been there for me, supporting me in all I do, helping me, and never turned her back on me despite the rumors and manipulations of Audrey she has always stood by me.I didn't know what I would have done without her, how lonely and bored I woul
Darien’s PovI gazed into Claire’s eyes, my heart pounding with anticipation. Her safety was my top priority. “ Audrey will pay if she does anything stupid. This everyday threats are becoming too much. I don’t know what has come over her that she doesn’t want to see you around, but she’ll pay if she attempts in hurting you,” she vowed, my voice low and menacing.Claire's soft and bright smile reassured me, but I knew Audrey wouldn't stop, I’ve never seen her this desperate, she wants Claire gone because she doesn’t like her and I know she won’t stop not until she claimed what she thought was hers.My leadership, My heart, my Luna, My everything. I clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palms.Lewis approached, his expression grim. “Alpha, we’ve located Audrey,” he said.My eyes fiercely fixed on Lewis, “where?” I demanded.“The old windmill on the outskirts,” Lewis replied.I nodded. “Let's go immediately,” I urged.Claire's hand wrapped around mine. “I’m coming with you,” she sa
Claire’s PovSuddenly, I heard a faint knock on the door just a few minutes after me and Darien parted. ‘Who could that be? Could it be Raven? Or an enemy? or is it Darien?’ I thought. "Darien?" I called out, my voice barely above a whisper."Yeah," his muffled voice replied. "Just checking in."I smiled, feeling a surge of warmth. "Come in," I said, as I went to unlock the door. The door creaked open and Darien stood in the doorway, his eyes scanning my face."Can't sleep?" he basked, his voice low and gentle. I shook my head, feeling a lump form in my throat. Darien walked over and sat beside me, his presence calming my racing thoughts. His hand wrapped around mine, his touch sending shivers down my spine. "Claire try to rest," he whispered, his breath tickling my ears. “I'll be here watching over you,”And with that, he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close. In his arms I felt safe, enveloped in his warmth. For a moment, Audrey's threats seemed distant, fading into the shado
