3. His Mission

NOAH

“A Wolfclaw in high school, that would definitely be amusing to watch.” Tyler, my best friend, mocked as he brought the car to a halt a couple of steps away from the school gates.

“Just don’t kill anyone and keep your head down, the whole point is to not be noticed until you have figured out what exactly is going on in that school.” He advised me and I totally ignored him.

The moment I stepped down, he drove off so I began to walk towards the school gates.

It had been three whole years since the outbreak of what we called the plague, a deadly virus that had ravaged half of the pack from its eastern borders right to the center.

Although a handful of people know about its existence, it still posed a threat to our pack’s existence.

“There is some sort of mutation inside of them. What you see is as a result of an omega being twisted from the inside in a way their wolves obviously couldn’t take so it resulted in this, a half baked mutation.” The healer’s words echoed at the back of my mind.

For some reason, whatever was causing the outbreak of such deadly breeds of monsters, pointed us to Danville High, a school for the elites and no matter how many times we tried to wrap our heads around it, it made no sense that the school would be involved in something so serious.

“They are just a bunch of kids, Alpha Kade, what could they possibly have to do with this.” Tyler had voiced out when my father brought the idea of infiltrating the school.

He was right, they were all just a bunch of kids but to be on the safe side, my father, the Alpha King and supreme ruler of the werewolf world, decided to carry out a mission to get to the root of the problem.

What better way to do that than to send someone into Danville High.

And that someone just had to be me, the only heir and prince, Noah Wolfclaw.

This wasn’t just about the mission, it was more of a punishment for going against my father’s orders and not mating with the woman he had chosen.

I dipped my hand into my pocket and pulled out the school identity card that Tyler had fabricated for me. My name was still Noah but my surname was now Lockwood.

Tyler had arranged for my admission into the school so from that moment onwards, it was all up to me to find out what was going on.

The mission sounded serious but I was far from excited because it was obvious that this would most likely be a dead end.

“Go be a whore somehow else!”

Those were the first words I heard the moment I walked past the school gates with my bag. There was some sort of ruckus going on in front of the school building and a handful of students were throwing things at a young girl on the ground.

I rolled my eyes at the scene, just a bunch of spoiled, rich kids, this was definitely going to be a bloody waste of time.

Without a second thought, I avoided walking up to the school building directly and tried to get in without anyone noticing me but as I got closer, it became difficult to not notice the girl on the ground.

She was badly bruised because I could smell her blood and…

“Mate.” Xan, my wolf suddenly growled and I immediately came to a halt.

“What?” I asked him through our mindlink which was a very intimate way of conversing with him without anyone’s knowledge.

He fell silent and I could sense the overwhelming urge to glance in the direction of the madness going on.

This had to be some sort of joke! There was no way I would be mated to a high schooler!

But I gave in and turned to look, I shouldn’t have given in and I knew that but I did because there was no fighting with Xan. He always had a way of making me do things on impulse.

My eyes quickly scanned through everyone standing there but there was nothing, I felt nothing until my eyes rested on the girl on the ground.

There was this strange pull towards her.

There was something strange about her scent, there was no strong scent of her wolf and the more I stared at her, the more I lost control.

“…keep your head down… the whole point is to not get noticed.” Tyler’s advice rang out loud in my head but it was useless fighting against something that had already taken control of me.

So, I did what I shouldn’t have done. I got involved.

Touching her would give me the confirmation I needed so when I took her hand, I felt it, the blood rush and the serene feeling that took over.

For the first time since I first shifted, Xan was calm.

Like a part of him that had been missing had just been found.

“Hey! Are you deaf? I said stay away from this.” One of the students yelled at me as she reached out to pull me away but I shot her a glare and almost immediately, Xan’s angry side flared up.

My eyes shifted to its original form and that must have scared her because I saw the look on her face when she stepped back.

I didn’t even want to know what had happened before I had arrived or what was going on. I led her inside and since Tyler had already given me a thorough briefing of the entire school including pictures to show me where every single thing was located, I knew my way around.

In the clinic, I helped her place bandages on her bruises and as expected, she pulled away from me and asked who I was.

“My name is Noah.”

That was all she needed to know for now, until I figured out if she was really my mate or Xan was just messing with me.

She seemed to be scared of me and before I could say anything else, she walked out in a hurry.

I eventually found my way to the dorms and found my room.

I had barely even had the chance to finish unpacking before a knock at the door interrupted me.

Tyler had already processed everything with the headmistress without meeting her directly so it made sense that she would want to check in on me the moment she heard I had arrived.

The news of my arrival must have spread by now especially since it was a dramatic one.

I pulled open the door and to my surprise, three boys stood in front of me and the one in front that had taken the stance of a leader in front of the others, stepped inside without my permission.

Xan growled in reaction, his temper gradually returning to its original form.

“Relax buddy, remember we are not supposed to kill anyone.” I mindlinked him as I watched the boy walk around the room like he owned it, glancing around as if he was searching for something.

“Can I help you?” I asked, a bit irritated by his presence.

“Who are you and where are you from? The school doesn’t take admissions this late into the term.” He stopped walking around and planted himself in front of me, with his hands in his pocket.

He obviously wanted to look intimidating but his body compared to mine was definitely not capable of pulling that off.

“And why is that any of your concern?”

He looked taken aback to hear me say that but he simply scoffed and took a step closer to me,

“Listen up new kid, I am Damien Randolph, I am certain my surname is one you should recognize and know you shouldn’t mess with. I own everything you see here, I rule this turf and you,” he rammed a finger into my chest, “you interfered in something you shouldn’t have.”

Randolph, I had heard that name before.

Tyler had informed me that the Alpha of this pack was Alpha Randolph so that means the punk standing in front of me was his only son and heir.

“Except you have something serious to say, leave.” I pointed at the door, fighting with everything in me not to kick him out.

I didn’t want to draw any more attention to myself.

“What’s your business with Astrid?” He suddenly blurted out, “why did you stand up for her?”

“Astrid?”

Wait… her name’s Astrid?

“I would assume you didn’t know what you were doing when you interfered but the next time you so much as…”

“Oh trust me, there won’t be a next time.” I interrupted him and he frowned heavily.

“What?”

“You heard me, there won’t be a next time because she’s off limits to you or anyone else now.”

“What the fuck did you just say to me?!” He yelled as he raised his hands but before he could do anything, I caught it mid-air and twisted it gently.

He yelped out loud.

“You think you're the toughest guy in school? Newsflash, you're not even close. And if you touch her, you'll find out why." I whispered into his ear.

“So leave before I lose my temper.” I shoved him towards the door and he stumbled right out.

His friends caught him before he crashed to the ground and I slammed the door shut in their faces.

“Bunch of fucking punks!”

  • Mated To The Undercover Alpha Prince   8. Noah vs Damien (II)

ASTRIDI pulled back from the kiss after a bit of struggle with Damien. He has gone mad! I’ve always known he needed help but this was way beyond my imagination.I wiped my mouth with the back of my palm but he sounded pleased by his action considering the look on his face.“Taste sweet,” he smirked.“You are a jerk!” “I’m stating my claims and you better start adjusting and getting used to it because I’m not leaving you anytime soon.”“You are sick,” I said through my teeth.“The more you fight it, the more attractive you become. Once again as I’ve said, you should have shown this side of you more. It would have been easy to fall in love with you sooner,” he retorted. It was usual to argue with him. He already made up his mind and there’s nothing I can do besides ignore him and pretend like I didn’t have any of this conversation with him.I turned to leave but the door was locked. “Open the door,” I said to him.I was surprised at my courage too because I wasn’t usually like this.

  • Mated To The Undercover Alpha Prince   19. I can never like you

ASTRID“You are nuts thinking that I am the same girl who would fall for your tactics anymore.”“So are you saying you fell for it seeing how angry you are? You still like me, don’t you?” He sounded so cocky.I did like him but not anymore and if I can go back in time to correct one mistake of mine then it would be ever having to like an arrogant bastard like him.“You wish for me to like you? I’d rather die a nun than like you.” He chuckled. “You say that honey but you and I know that you don’t mean it. An omega like you would always want someone from my bloodline to save you. Besides the school, even in the outside world, no one is ever going to like you.”“Why? Because that’s life. Nobody ever wants lower-ranking people like you to taint their blood but if you do well I might take you as a breeder or a mistress, what do you think?” I hissed. “I’d rather die a nun and I mean it. You are so full of yourself that you think that I’m still stuck up on you?”“Do you know what I regret

  • Mated To The Undercover Alpha Prince   18. Standing up for herself

ASTRID“Are you hungry?” Noah asked. We were both seated on a bench on the field. The other students have already left and since it’s break and I cannot walk without feeling pain, I have been letting him assist me around.“No,” I lied. Why was he still being nice to me when he didn't want to be my friend? I mentally asked then I recalled that I didn’t regard him as my friend either and that’s because he didn’t.I’ve barely known him for long and because he has been there for me when I had no one, I thought that maybe he might be a friend and not like the others.“Alright,” he said, standing up to his feet.Is he leaving me when he knows that I can’t walk on my own? I thought to myself. That’s fine by the way. I should get used to it. I always have people leave me. I knew it was only a matter of time before he revealed his true self. Why did he bother with wanting to assist me when I asked him to leave me alone? As he left, I felt my stomach grumble and I wished I had told him that I

  • Mated To The Undercover Alpha Prince   17. Friend?

NOAH“You don’t have to take me. You can put me down here, I will go to the infirmary myself.” Astrid said but I didn’t listen to her.I was carrying her on my back to the infirmary.“You don’t have to force yourself to be okay. It’s not like you are speaking to me anyway.” She lamented and she wasn’t wrong.I was avoiding her. Why? Because I’m not used to having to care about someone and somehow since I’ve been here for the past two weeks, I’ve been overly involved in someone else's life and it wasn’t because I was trying to work but because I had to.She’s my mate. She doesn’t know that and I’ve decided not to tell her that. My wolf Xan scolded me for trying to keep my distance but I couldn’t help it. I had to keep my distance not because of her but because of me. I could barely sleep without seeing her face every time I closed my eyes. Last night was great. I laughed and enjoyed the time we spent in the city and it was later that I realized that I came for a mission and I cannot

  • Mated To The Undercover Alpha Prince   16. The race

ASTRID“On your mark, get set, go!” The PE teacher blew the whistle and the race began. I and the other girls raced to reach the boys where they were waiting for us. I was someone who easily ran out of breath and I didn’t know why the PE teacher didn’t let us race normally but wanted us to race with a sack. I was behind. The other girls seem to do well. Damien was glaring at me from afar and even if he wasn’t close, I couldn’t tell he was fuming. I was trying my best. I looked in front of me and there were like five girls ahead of me. Somehow they were doing far better than I was and Adriana was one of them. Chris wasn’t going to let me be if I didn’t get to him on time. I was already tired. My heart was beating too fast and I was sweating.“Keep going. You can’t stop here. Keep going.” I said to myself as I kept racing to reach him. The more I pushed myself, the closer I was but my heart was starting to ache because of it. I was never a person with physical strength or a heart

  • Mated To The Undercover Alpha Prince   15. PE

ASTRID“What is she still doing here?”“Isn’t she supposed to be expelled by now!?”I heard whispers as I stepped into the field for physical education. My eyes locked with Adriana and I knew that she’d come for me but I wasn’t worried as I would previously. Why? Because I wasn’t pregnant and it was the best feeling ever. It would have been torture to me to find out that I was pregnant and worse the baby daddy doesn’t care for me and he only got with me because of a bet. “What are you doing here?” Adriana asked. “You should be out of the school by now Peggie!”“What are you doing here?” Anna asked.“I’m supposed to be here, I guess,” I replied, surprised by my response.Adriana scoffed. “Excuse me? What do you mean by that? You can’t be here, you have to leave. You were pregnant!”“I’m not,” I replied calmly.“What?” Anna scoffed. The other students came around once again, curious to listen and see what was happening.“And what do you all think you are doing? It’s P.E, come back to
