Samantha’s Pov
It's been four days of this man ignoring me and acting like I’m non-existent. Why does he ignore me? Doesn’t he feel pain like I do when we are apart? Why do I care? If the almighty Alpha King has decided to take matters into his own hands and ghost me even after I embarrassed myself with the mindlink, then that’s his business. He didn’t even come to the garden for our training; instead, he sent Tyler. We hadn’t talked since the night he wanted to take me as his muse, and it was weird looking at him and clearly avoiding his questioning eyes. “Again,” Tyler said curtly. I stood up from the ground and dusted my already cramped-up knees. He was doing this intentionally—working me out and making me train so hard. I had already mastered my shifting abilities. I wasn’t a wolf shifter, but Aldrina was pretty good at shifting since we were both healed now. I just needed to get stronger in fighting skills and smell. Tyler was my instructor, and my lesson for today was to defeat him without shifting into my wolf form. I was stronger than before; I could kick a box or a log of wood, and it would shatter without even trying. But Tyler was just being mean, and he didn’t care that he was hurting me in the process. “Again?! I’m tired, I need to rest.” “You aren’t resting. The King said this training can take as many hours as possible until you’re able to bring me down to my knees.” “You’re obviously stronger than me! How do you expect that to happen?!” I threw another fist at him, and he dodged it, immediately sending a blow to my stomach. I stirred back and coughed, while Tyler just stood there with a disgusting smirk on his face. “I see what this is—you’re enjoying this. You enjoy torturing me.” “I do not,” he denied. “Yes, you do! Is this because of the other night? Is this why you’re being so mean and hitting me so hard?” His soft eyes glowed darker, and he cleared his throat. “We are training, and I should prepare you for any danger ahead. This has nothing to do with that night.” “I don’t believe you,” I whispered, still clutching my side where he hit me. It hurts, I won’t lie, and it feels like my bones cracked. What is this guy made of? “Did I hurt you?” he asked and took a step toward me. I backtracked, and he stopped before taking another. “Just forget about it. Let’s go again.” I readied my hands and launched another blow at him, but my hands gave up on me, sending me down to the ground with a loud crack from my ribs. “Fuck, Sam.” He bent down to where I sat on the ground, my left hand holding the left side of my ribs. “Don’t,” I warned. I didn’t want him near me right now. He was the reason I’m in pain, and I bet I cracked a rib. “You’re hurt; we have to stop. You need to see the pack doctor.” “No.” “Yes, you do,” he insisted and attempted to carry me up. I pushed him off with my other hand and painfully stood up from the ground. “Don’t act like you care. I’m sure you’re super happy about me hurting myself. It’s so obvious you wanted to be anywhere but here, so now I can relieve you of having me as a problem to look after!” “Stop it—just stop this and let me take you to the pack doctor.” “I'm fine. I don't need to be babysat by Uncle Tyler!” His face reddened with anger at what I’d said. He clenched his fists, clearly fuming. Good, he should be mad. He took slow strides toward where I stood; his amber eyes had a sharp red haze to them. I had never seen Tyler angry, and honestly, I was loving every bit of Angry Uncle Tyler. “Do you want to know why I’ve been avoiding that question?! Where should I start, huh? Is it because you didn’t tell me you already knew the King, or how you completely went ghost on me after that night?!” “I never ignored you. You practically avoided everyone.” I didn’t know who Tyler really was, but his actions after that night were unexpected. He was the only person who made me feel welcome, and that dance with him felt amazing-friendly, but amazing. “Why did you lie to me then? Why didn’t you tell me you were the King’s muse?” Please, no. Any question but that. “That’s none of your business.” He grabbed my wrists. “Answer me! You’re not avoiding this right now.” “I didn’t know Luca was going to make that announcement that way. I just knew people had to know I was his, and that was going to be it.” “Still… you said nothing when I asked. I asked that in front of him, Sam,” he said painfully. His words were laced with regret and something else I couldn’t place. “I-I’m sorry. I didn’t think it mattered.” “You didn’t think it mattered?” The look on his face confirmed I was nothing but a fool. “Sam, the Alpha might be my King, but he is also my friend. If I knew you were his woman, I wouldn’t have asked that in front of him and completely made a fool of myself in front of everyone.” I didn’t see it that way. I was so angry with him for ignoring me after that night that I never thought about how he felt. “I’m sorry I hurt you like that. I didn’t mean to, really. I was so blinded by my feelings that I didn’t bother to think it through,” I responded. His eyes softened, and his thumb caressed my skin softly. It made me feel weird, and it felt so wrong. “It’s okay,” he grinned. Tyler was good-looking, with short faded brown hair and tattoos that seeped from underneath his arms. He wasn’t broad or big like Luca but had an athletic build and beautiful amber eyes. He could pass as a good-looking guy—quite gorgeous, in fact, but he wouldn’t compare to Luca. “I’m sorry for hurting you,” he said, looking at where my hand still was. “We need to go see our pack doctor for that.” “I’ll be fine. I’m a werewolf; I’ll heal.” “I know,” he said, bringing his fingers to my cheek and caressing it slowly. He was so close that it was disturbing. I should be focused on him. I should fall for this charming man standing in front of me, but somehow my heart goes out to the one who has been ignoring me for days. I can smell him. I now know his scent, and it turns me on so much that it’s hard to think about anything else. “Excuse me if I'm interrupting anything,” a voice angrily said behind us.Samantha’s PovI couldn't sleep. Everything Mikala said kept ringing in my head. And Luca was still ignoring me, so I couldn’t take any more of it. I got up and showered quickly early in the morning, then stood in front of the room where he was sleeping.I knocked, and after what felt like hours, he finally opened the door. I couldn’t bear to look at his face, so I waltzed into the room without waiting for an invitation. His face had that early morning look—disheveled hair I was itching to run my hands through, swollen full lips I so desperately wanted to kiss.“Good morning to you too,” he said, closing the door and turning his attention to me.“Why didn’t you tell me about the sickness?” I didn’t want to waste time and dived right in. He avoided my eyes and moved toward his bed.“Um… hello? I’m still here.”“I know.”“And? We talked about everything except the sickness? Are you kidding me? It’s clear you’re avoiding the topic,” I said. Luca just looked at me with a straight face and
Luca's PovFuck! I threw another punch at the cracked wall. My hands hurt less with every strike, but my anger grew.“Are you done?” Tyler asked from the other side of the room. He was the reason for this, and if he didn’t keep his fucking mouth shut, my fists would be reaching his jaw by now.I couldn’t get the image of both of them in the garden out of my head. I gave him one order: fucking help her train. What exactly did he not understand? He intentionally touched what was mine, and I hate when others touch what’s mine—I’m territorial.“Shut up.”He sighed and walked to the table. “We don’t have much time. I have something to discuss with you.”“What?” I snapped, turning my attention back to him.“It’s about the pack. It’s important,” he said.“What is it about?”“The younger pups have started having the sickness. You need to do something about this—you’ve been ignoring the subject for a while.”“I’m not ignoring it. I’ve been working towards fixing it,” I denied.“And how so? You
Samantha’s PovI wiped my eyes as I walked down the halls. Luca didn’t follow behind as I had hoped, so I decided to push the thought of him to the back of my mind. I headed to the kitchen and spotted Mikala. We were close now, although not close enough for me to call her my friend.“Hi,” I called, and her attention shifted from the dough she was kneading. She wiped her hands on her apron and strode over to where I stood by the door.“Sam! I thought you were having your training?”“I’m done with that for today,” I said, pushing the day’s rundown out of my head.“Are you still busy, or did they let you go on a short break?”She laughed heartily. “Well, I could go on a short break since I’ve been working all morning. Why?”“Let’s go out. Do something fun. I’m so confined in this castle that it’s choking me. I feel suffocated already, so I need to go out and explore Silver Rose Village.”Or avoid a certain king.“So, you need a tour guide?” she teased.“And a friend, yes,” I giggled in r
Samantha’s PovLuca. He was here, and his eyes were fixed on Tyler and me. I removed myself from Tyler's group and stood straight. Luca stood there immobile, his eyes sending daggers to where we stood. He looked between Tyler and me before his eyes dropped down to where my hand held my rib.“What happened?” he asked.“We were just about to go to the pack doctor for that. It could be a broken rib,” Tyler said before I could.“Hmm. I'll take her.”I wanted to resist, but my wolf was happy to see Luca. I wanted to pounce on him and envelope him in a tight hug—his scent was like a toxin that only I could inhale. I strode toward him without a glance at Tyler. He took my hand, still keeping his eyes on Tyler, before we both walked out of the garden.Luca didn't say a word. Was he mad at me? We just walked in silence to the pack doctor's office. While she checked and asked questions, Luca stood beside me without saying a word.“Okay. All you need to do is apply this on your rib, and you'll b

Luca's Pov“The people are getting worried. You were supposed to choose your Luna. Time is running out, and Silver Rose needs a strong queen,” Banabas said from where he sat at the end of the table.Council meetings… always bringing up conversations I do not want to have. I've been avoiding this meeting since that night.“You said you were going to choose a Luna, My King. Why the sudden change?” Royal asked. He was the youngest here, and I admired his insights and perspective on certain matters. Royal became a man who wore the sleeve of responsibility after his father died, and I entrusted him as one of the council members. So far, he was the one person I hated the least.“Gentlemen,” I started, “I don't see why this is a problem. I will surely get a Luna if I do not know who my fated mate is before then, but right now, we have other matters to deal with.”“Matters like choosing a Luna. You need support from someone more than your subjects, my king,” Arturo added.“Is there something
Samantha’s PovHe is so close… I can't think when he is this near to me. My body reacts differently from how I want it to react.“You're too close,” I whispered, and he just smiled. His hands crept up my dress, and I pulled myself up to sit on the table where the pots had lain.“Why are you just giving that big smirk without saying anything?”He stopped moving and focused his eyes on my face. “I fear that I may say something that would ruin the moment, and believe me or not when I say this, I don't want this moment to end.”“Why?” I asked, and he looked at me, bewildered. In my defense, this is the closest a man has gotten to me since Killain, and I do not trust Luca’s words one bit.“Don't avoid what's going on,” he whispered.“I-I don't know what you're talking about.” His hands cupped my cheeks, and with his hands on my blushing face, his skin touching mine, I felt like exploding, and Goddess, I do not mind at all.“What's happening between us? Don't act like you don't feel it too.
Samantha’s POVWe arrived at the party on time. With my hands holding Luca's, we walked into the room. Everyone's eyes were on us, but I didn’t bother to look back at their shocked faces.“Be careful… don’t say anything you shouldn’t,” Luca warned as we moved further into the room.“What party is this, by the way?”“It’s a small gathering with the allies of Silver Rose. It wasn’t hosted by me, but by them, to settle unfinished business. And what better way for people to settle unfinished business than by showing off their beautiful wives and the expensive jewelry they’re wearing?”“Oh.”“Now, if you need me, I’ll be right there,” he said, pointing to the side where some distinguished men—whom I guessed were the ally pack’s leaders—stood. “You can call me or just… think about me. I think that’ll do.”“Just leave. You’re insufferable.”He laughed before trotting off to the other end of the room. I enjoy teasing Luca as much as he enjoys teasing me. At least it keeps my mind off a lot of
Samantha’s PovI entered the garden—stepping onto its stone path. The rich hush of perfect roses, yellow daisies, and tulips wafted through the warm breeze. Luca stood gracefully in the middle of the garden, wearing nothing but dress pants and a light dress shirt that exposed his chest and was clearly see-through. The dark green material did him no justice.“You're late.”“A girl needs time to prepare,” I responded, coming to a stop in front of him.“So?” I asked, not minding the clear view I had of him. Alpha Luca might be a dauntless man, and maybe my nemesis, but he was definitely a gorgeous man. His almost white hair, streaked with grey, sculpted his face perfectly. It was short, but just enough to run my hands through.“I hate lateness. I remember I told you that.”I scoffed. “Let’s just start.”He nodded and moved closer to me. “You need to free your mind and think about this. Focus on Aldrina, and let her take the lead.”“Okay,” I whispered and closed my eyes.‘It’s okay, Sam.
