Ivy’s POV
Anger brewed in me as I watched the scarf I'd knitted burning on the ground. I hadn’t slept all night while making it for my date, but now it was ruined.
“Why did you do that?” I demanded, glaring at Demi. “I made that for my date.”
“Date?” she scoffed. “Who would be foolish enough to be your partner? Is he brave enough to go against me?”
“Not everyone is afraid of you,” I told her. “I wouldn't want to go with any of those cowards who tuck their tails between their legs in front of you.”
“Is that so? Who is your brave knight? Huh? Who is it who agreed to be the dance partner to a country bumpkin like you?”
“I’m curious too,” Casey said. “You must have lied about your identity. Anyone who knows you knows better.”
“She must have hired some dude from outside school,” Stacy said.
“You are right,” Annie agreed.
“If that's so, I hate to break it to you, but outsiders are not allowed to our prom,” Demi said.
“You are lying,” I called her out. “I've seen many students enter the ballroom with outsiders.”
“They are members of the pack, so they have special privilege. You are not a member of Twilight Pack, are you?”
I grind my teeth in frustration. There was no such rule. But Demi was the daughter of Twilight Pack’s Beta. If she wanted to deny me entrance into the ballroom, even the teachers would side with her.
Demi stepped closer to me, narrowing her eyes. “Are you empty headed? I've told you we don't want you here, and yet you keep showing your ugly face. I've been nice until now, but not anymore.”
“You are not even the Alpha’s daughter, but you act like you own the place,” I retorted. “I'm not going anywhere, deal with it.”
She sneered. “Let's see about that.”
She raised her hands and clapped twice. A few moments later, two security guards appeared. Demi pointed at me. “Drag her out, she is not invited to the prom.”
“I'm a student here, and I have the right to be here!”
The two security guards stepped in front of me. “Come with us.”
“No. I didn't do anything wrong.”
Without another word, they stepped forward, each grabbing my arm. I fought against them, but my strength was nothing compared to theirs.
Effortlessly, they dragged me away from the venue.
“Lock her up in the security room,” Demi instructed. “She was trying to sabotage the party and should be investigated.”
What?
“That's not true!” I yelled, panic setting in. Throwing me out was one thing, locking me up was another. What if Sean showed up and I wasn't around? I couldn't stand him up when he was doing me such a huge favour.
As the guards pulled me away, a loud rumble filled the air. Everybody's attention shifted from us to the sound. When I looked, I saw a red Ferrari pulling up to the venue.
The door opened and a tall man dressed in a tuxedo stepped out.
I blinked as my eyes took in his face.
It was Sean. The Sean that Zoe had shown me.
Holy cow, how was it possible that he looked even hotter in real life?
He was at least 6’3”. His blond hair was slicked back, exposing his thick brows. His skin glowed under the night lights, giving him an ethereal appearance.
His tuxedo fit him like a glove, accentuating his well-built body, wide shoulders, and long legs.
I noticed then that Demi and her entourage, and everyone else, looked stunned.
Sean walked from the car and came towards me and the two guards. It was then I noticed that the guards had also frozen in place.
“Let her go,” Sean said, his voice the exact same as I had heard over the phone. My stomach felt hot all of a sudden. Was Zoe's Sean my Sean?
The guards did not hesitate. They quickly let go of me and stepped back.
Sean gave me an apologetic smile. “Ivy, right?”
I swallowed hard and nodded, struck speechless.
He was ridiculously handsome.
“I'm so sorry for arriving late,” he apologised. “Has the party started?”
I blinked. Then I shook my head. Then I muttered, “No.” Gathering my wits, I repeated, “No, it hasn't.”
“Great!” Then, he put his arm around my waist. “Shall we?”
Shall we what?
He smiled at me gently and steered me towards the ballroom. He must have thought I was airheaded.
I could as well be. My brain was having a hard time registering the fact that the popular guy Zoe talked about was in fact my date.
We made it inside the ballroom when Demi's shriek stopped us.
“Sean! What are you doing?” she demanded, rushing to block our path. She nailed me with a venomous glare. “Do you have any idea who she is?”
“Yes,” Sean told her. “She is my date.”
“That's impossible!” she shouted. “Why would you go to prom with someone like her? She is a wolfless nobody from god knows where. No boy at school wanted to go to the prom with her. How can a werewolf of your stature be her date?”
My hand curled into itself, nails digging into flesh. Demi had ruined all my chances of getting a date tonight. I'd just not thought she'd also ruin this for me.
So far, everybody had been influenced by her, treating me like an outcast.
Looking at Sean, he could go to prom with any girl he wanted. He must have been simply curious when he agreed to be my date.
Now that Demi had told him the truth about me, would he turn against me like all the others?
Narrator’s POVYears after gradually assuming most leadership responsibilities from his father, the day had finally come for Sean to be officially confirmed as Alpha. While he had been managing the pack's daily affairs, his father remained the official Alpha with ultimate authority in the council. After the ceremony, Sean and Ivy would assume their roles as Alpha and Luna with full governing power.Kit was five-years old when the Alpha Inheritance Ceremony took place. The ceremony was being broadcast live, with werewolves from allied packs and human dignitaries in attendance. The Blu Pack's influence extended far beyond supernatural circles—the Harris family's business empire and political connections meant even human leaders and CEOs filled the audience. In the preparation suite, Ivy sat perfectly still while the makeup artist applied the finishing touches. The door swung open, and in the mirror's reflection, Ivy saw a familiar face that made her gasp."Zoe!" she exclaimed, instantly
Sean’s POVThe soft morning light filtered through the curtains as I watched Ivy sleep, her chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm. Even exhausted from our wild rounds of sex last night, she looked peaceful, with her dark hair fanned across the pillow, her lips slightly parted. Damn, I'd missed this. Missed her.Dax stirred in my chest, equally reluctant to leave her warmth. These business trips were hell on both of us. No matter how many times I told myself it was temporary, that it was just until I dealt with the pending issues, every mile between us felt like a physical ache.So whenever I finally got home, we spent hours making up for lost time. And yet, the hunger I had for her never abated. It was never ending, gnawing at me even when I was close to her because I knew I couldn’t be around as long as I wanted.I pressed my lips to her forehead, catching the faint scent of vanilla and sex in her hair. She murmured something unintelligible but didn't wake. Good, I wanted her t
Ivy’s POVFour Years LaterWhen I opened my eyes groggy with sleep, I found myself staring right into Sean's. I blinked, confused and disoriented. He wasn't supposed to be here. Was I dreaming?"Happy birthday, babe," he told me in a low voice.I blinked again. No, it was not a dream. He was really here with me. Before I could fully process what was happening, he leaned down and kissed me. When he pulled back, I finally strung my thoughts together."What...how...last night you said you couldn't make it.""It's your birthday,” he said. “How could I miss it?"I smiled. Ever since he became Alpha about a year ago, he'd become increasingly busy. He was in charge of both the family business and pack affairs, all of which demanded endless time and attention.Yesterday, he'd been on a business trip and told me he wouldn't make it back in time to celebrate my birthday together. It had dampened my spirits, but what could I do?When he took the Alpha position, I knew he'd be busy, I just hadn't
Ivy’s POVOne Year Later"Hey, are you okay?" Molly, one of my partners in our group assignment, asked.I shook my head. "I feel a bit off.""If you don't feel well, you can go home and rest,” she told me. “I'll send you the notes from today's meeting.""Really? Thanks. Tell the others I'll make up for my part next time.""No worries," she said.I grabbed my bag and walked out of the room. I'd been feeling nauseous since that morning, but I'd thought it would pass. Leaving the building, I got into my car. I still had a few classes that day, but I didn't feel like attending. Maybe I'd just get some pills at a nearby store and go sleep it off.It was during the drive to the store that the thought occurred to me: My period was late by a few days. I hadn't thought much about it before, but now... A wave of anxiety washed over me. Could I really be pregnant?I glanced at my phone, wondering whether to tell Sean. I shook my head. I could be wrong. I'd been swamped with schoolwork lately and
Sean's POVMy eyes didn't pull away from Ivy until she disappeared from my sight. A smile formed on my lips. It was finally happening. The day I'd been planning had arrived, and it was all worth it.I'd wanted to make this day as special for her as I could, and seeing the look in her eyes earlier, I think I'd done a good job.‘You have,’ Dax told me in a rare show of agreement.“Do you think she'll like the dress?” I asked him.‘She'll love it,’ he said with total conviction."You've really outdone yourself," Tan said, walking to my side."Yeah, you've definitely raised the bar for proposals,” Laphel commented. “How will the rest of us keep up?""She's worth it,” I said proudly."Did you hear that?” Laphel asked Tan, nudging him. “He's totally love-struck.”He wasn't wrong. For months, I'd been thinking about how to give Ivy the best proposal ever. I wanted to show how special she was to me, how much she meant to me. I wanted to make her as happy as she made me."Here she is," Tan whi
Ivy’s POVI flipped the card over and found more written on the other side. The story continued:The prince lived a carefree and reckless life, without a care in the world. He was like a lone kite, trying to chart his own way while the strong wind tried to control him. One day, the prince met a beautiful princess. She was so lovely he could not look away. Her sweet smile and soft voice charmed him and warmed his heart, which had been unfeeling for many years. He wanted to stay close to the princess, and he followed her everywhere. But she was not like him. He hurt her with his wild spirit, betraying her trust time and again. She wanted to leave him behind, but he could not imagine a life without her. Ever since she showed up, his life had changed. Where it had been plain, it was filled with color. Where it had been bland, it was filled with excitement. Where it had been frozen, it was filled with warmth. He did everything to keep her by his side. Eventually, he could make her smile th
